  • Targeted 400 HP. Got 399.8HP. Dyno guy put one of his spacers onto the engine setup, was able to get it past 400HP, but not by much. Interesting process. Will be able to run pump gas without issue. Fun power for a street car vs the original 260 cu in v8 the car had originally.
Edelbrock performer rpm package from cam to heads.(RPM heads, RPM cam/lifters, RPM manifold, 750cmf carrb - 1407 )
    From Edelbrock website:
Edelbrock part #7112 Performer RPM Camshaft is designed for small-block Oldsmobile 350-403 V-8 applications. This Edelbrock cam kit produced 397 HP & 400 ft-lbs. of torque when used with #7111 intake and stock iron cylinder heads on a 350 engine. The camshaft works well with high-performance's street applications, Performer RPM cams provide power from 1500 to 6500 rpm. This hydraulic lifter camshaft is dyno-matched to Performer RPM manifolds for high-rpm horsepower while still maintaining acceptable low-end torque. With 10 to 12 inches of manifold vacuum at idle, Performer RPM cams have more lift and duration than most street camshafts. Hydraulic flat tappet lifters are included with each Performer RPM camshaft. Camshaft Specifications: - Duration @ .050 Intake: 224 degrees - Duration @ .050 Exhaust: 234 degrees - Lift @ Valve Intake: .496" - Lift @ Valve Exhaust: .520" - Lobe Separation: 112 Degrees - Intake Centerline: 107 Degrees - Idle Vacuum @ 1000 RPM's: 12"
Bottom end was mostly a basic rebuild by a local engine shop, of which was told the HP goals, all new internals, 9.5:1 compression. Biggest power gain, my opinion, came from the Edelbrock parts.

Nice to see a manufacturer having a honest HP claim.

I’m building a 350! I would love to know what’s on the build sheet for this motor?!!!

Engine shop rebuilt the bottom end, so not sure of the specs, but does have around 9.5 -9.7 to 1 compression. I told them the HP goals so they would not under build the motor. I basically found and purchased the Edelbrock RPM power package, cam, heads, carb to go with the RPM heads(I port matched to intake manifold), on the internet, based of their dyno result sheet, specifying around 397 hp with headers.

That cam is the absolute worst. Originally designed for a small block chevy in the 70s. Completely wrong for an Olds. It also has very slow ramps. If you put a modern cam in there that is designed for an Olds, I bet you would pick up 30 hp and 30 lbs ft or more.
Also pretty sure the RPM intake is set up for a spread bore carb. A Q-Jet would do better than the square bore Carter/Edelbrock carb.

I'm seeing 350 Olds hitting 400 hp but only just and I'm a little disappointed with those numbers.
I know the BBO's have a lot of potential, I expected a little better from the SBOs.
