Hard not to root for Tate. Dude has transitioned to the beach so smoothly, especially for his height. Only other male player under 6’0 in the main draw this year was Diego Perez (last year he was the ONLY one). To beat Jeff, a qually veteran, to make it into the gradaddy is a massive milestone. Bunny’s for days!!
Played alot with Jeff Samuels in the Michigan scene. Gotta admire the dude's dedication. Loves volleyball so much refused to have a job and let mom and dad fund him thru his mid 20's. He didn't own a car, and relied on people like me and other friends to drive him to play. Stopped being his friend when he started showing trophy photos on his phone of night-time exploits with girls he picks up from volleyball scenes. It's like he is a hunter and women are his prey, the photos are like a deer's head on the wall. I despise men like that. We played the Qorona Wide Open in Chicago. While I was getting my photo taken with Karch Kiraly, Jeff was prowling looking for women and phone numbers. I guess the moral of the story is: "you can achieve greatness. you can be a mediocre "pro" with zero wins in a sport that is not mainstream." all you have to do is not work a real job so you have the time and energy to go all-in on something. then when you "make it" just forget about all the people who helped you get where you are. all that matters is that your ego is fulfilled that you can claim you are a "sponsored pro athlete"

Tate is a great player, and so is Diego. But I gotta fact check you, I was also in the main draw last year and am in fact under 6’0 😅
Same. I took a 3rd in VA and a 7th in Hermosa last year...
@@johnhamilton1537y’all under 5’10 though?
Amazing Tate! That dig on 7:52…was expecting they gonna hustle for the ball. 🔥💪🏽#MBOMD

whattt
Something tells me you don’t think Jeff is a good dude
These guys make hand setting look so easy - I’ve been playing for like 10 years and my hands are still garbage 🤦♂️
Holy shit if that guy got pulled over...
@@jerrychen2302 who?😂
What a terrible call by the ref on the set at 3:17 --- just because it was spinning doesn't mean it's a double!!
Ref was terrible
