I fast forwarded this video, meaning I kept pressing the L key to go forward 10 seconds so I can listen to some bits of every single song and I can already pick my favorite. Even though I didn't listen to any of the songs from start to finish. My favorite is: "The Battle For Weather Control". It's not that much different from the rest of the songs, but I love it because it's about Weather Control, arguably the most obscure Beta location, since there's no maps and no anything about it, except plot elements. Great job!
This is absolutely incredible, a lot of these sound really in line with the Half Life compositions from Bailey and Morasky with a beautiful synth sounds combined with some amazingly punchy drums. My favourite tracks being Manhack arcade, The Antlion King, Hyperborea 2000, Escape from Kraken Base (sounds amazingly Similar like Anti Citizen one and CP Violation), Fall from Vertigo, The Citadel and the Credits. I think a small improvement would be more ambient tracks, with how dark and gloomy the HL Beta was set to be there's a lot of potential to play around with massive reverbs and dark drones to make some really uncomfortable and foreboding sounds for this world; Hyperborea 2000, the first half of The Citadel and Credits have some amazing tones that sound incredible from an ambient perspective, Especially the Citadel it almost sounds like a mechanized breathing, playing into that strange rumour of the Citadel being alive. I'd love to know what your DAW soundscape looked like for all these tracks. Overall this is absolutely spectacular, Kelly Bailey and Mike Morasky would be absolutely proud of your work and it would slot perfectly into the HL world.

Eventually we decided to watch something on Netflix. Sadly however they decided to watch the most brain rotting, unfunny “comedy” series to ever be created… Namely Paradise PD 🤮. So i sat there for a bit, watching that excuse of a “comedy” series. I then started watching TH-cam on my phone. Eventually i had enough and left the room and sat down at the dining table. Im not sure if i noticed this video being uploaded on the couch or the at the dining table. But either way i sat there listening to this banger of an album. While my friends were consuming thrash, i was consuming art.
Well dang, this is amazing, and sure fits the early 90s/2000s tone and atmosphere the old concepts went for. Much more atmospheric and ominous than retail. It's 🔥.
This music is awesome! Just one problem: I think it is a bit too electronic and not enough bass/percussion or really any instrument at all. Of course I like the hyperborea and air conditioner songs due to y'know thier respective technological and lonely feel. I feel like the early 2000 tracks originally would have been more guitar ambients to fit the dark, somber, and nighttime sky. Kinda like at the end of on a rail in hl1 when you hear electric guitar ambience. Overall very good and underrated music just misses that sort of transition between hl1 and retail HL2. Just little suggestions and nitpicks be cause most likely you don't know how to play those instruments (not saying you don't know how to play them) but that's just my suggestion to the theoretical soundtrack of a lost beta of a game from 2000. Just what I seem fit but again that's just my preference.
Need more ambience and a different rhythm, feels a bit too FL-Studio like (which is why I highly recommend you get a bunch of those old Zero-G sample kits. Kelly used those exact sample kits back in 2005) Once you do get those sample kits btw I would love a video analyzing the soundtrack and finding all the samples they used

Since City 17 is the Combine's headquarters on Earth I'd imagine there could be other cities with vastly worse living conditions. The closer to New Mexico the more worse probably, and Eastern Europe is pretty dang far from New Mexico.

1 bit of critisism is the songs are kind of repetetive whereas in the actual HL2 soundtrack it varies in some parts but still amazing job, I was never around in the early 2000s nor early 90s so I wouldn't know how close this is to that but from other songs released in that era it sounds like these would fit right in
I think it sounds like something that would come up in the 90s based on my experience, 90s video game music varied in terms of what composer or equipment/budget you had. And yeah, agreed, I don't think any Half Life fan made music usually tops the original, but this is definitely going in the category for some of the best. It's wild how much great HL inspired music and remixed we got in recent years.

My only comment of critique is that it's lacking a bit of the rock guitar textures I come to expect from half life, but perhaps that's by design, considering how dark, technological and lacking in humanity the original half life 2 was going to be. either way, great job!
Let's talk to the Raising the Bar redux dev team and ask them to implemente some of the radhaz tracks on their mod , most of the rtbr OST is hollow this can bring that missing flavor
no offense but this sounds more like some portal 2 most ost than half life 2 beta ost. its not really a bad thing but half life is more about ambient and industrial music. maybe people have different outlooks on hl2 beta ost, but i personally feel like it would be more appropriate to have the industrialness of half life 1 ost + some of the new things introducted in half life 2 ost. for example the credits song sounds too dark imo and it would fit less with how arcade-y and energetic half life 1 credits music felt. he would use a lot of samples in his music from libraries like zero g and this is what kind of gave his music character in my opinion as well as his ability to perfectly capture the ambience of some places with granulizing said samples.
