I LOVE THIS! I'm 70, just started playing 6 months ago and love rhythm. This video is definitely going to be part of my weekly practice rotation. Thank you!
And to think that he does it all on an old guitar when he gets up under the lights to play his thing. Helluva musician that Guitar George. The Sultans of Swing are lucky to have him.
I’ve had a looper for quite a while now and never have used it…now I really have to! The free content from GMM is what got me to buy the product, and it just keeps getting better.
Great lesson and an important one. YEARS AGO I was in a band with a guitar player friend of mine. It was a metal band. He was pretty good at leads but couldn't play rhythm too well and it hurt the songs. Even his solos kinda lacked rhythm. His rhythm was choppy and forced. I was always a natural. I love rhythm.
Thanks for the Kick drum mute guitar strum technique mimicking the drum beats rhythm. By adding the dynamics it sure spice up the way we play the top and bottom 3 strings. The use of word syllable time count metronome demo is interesting too for me.
I've been " playing" now for 4 years and am still so bad at this . I wish I could afford your course Eddie . I've tried in person lessons and online lessons with people who said that they never had anyone quit because they couldn't do it, then they met me. Maybe I'm unteachable
lol, not true. I was in the same mind, 72 now and only recently realized that it’s all in the mind. Change your mind, you can do it. It’s as sime as that. Then you will find your groove.
Great lesson Eddie! Rhythm is also easier to play and sing. Ever notice Eric C, David G, Joe B, when they are singing? They play the rhythm part while doing the vocals.
I get that some people want to be in front playing lead and performing soaring solos, but it's called rhythm and blues. Without musicians who can keep the rhythm of the music you'll never go far as a band.
I’ll be honest I’m mostly playing lead guitar because playing rhythm guitar well is imo more complicated.I can play rock and blues rhythms but without a pic it’s not gonna work for me lol.
I seem to remember some little known rhythm guitarist that actually did pretty well for himself. Let's see, IIRC his name is Pete Townshend, LOL. Oh, and some 'other guy' named Eddie Van Halen who stated quite emphatically that MOST of guitar playing is rhythm guitar. Seems playing rhythm guitar well IS important...
Awesome lesson, but probably more useful to teach people to count numbers than useing these words. Yes the words are usefull, but counting to 4 is more useful in the long term. If someone is playing with better players and they are struggling with a rythym there is a good chance that the better musicians are going to count using numbers. Nobody is going to count a band in and go Plane, Plane a plane plane plane plane. ;-) 1 2 3 4 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & 1e+a 2e+a 3e+a 4e+a 1+a 2+a 3+a 4+a Its more consistent and more crossover from one subdivision to the next.
0:04 - Said by lead guitarists who suck at rhythm😏. Imagine Aerosmith or Metallica without Brad or James😂. Also, the 90's... showed that bands could be ridiculously successful without even a smidgen of lead and that lead _isn't_ necessary. It's best to be able to do both, but if you only do rhythm and only play the chords that are expected, ("this chord should go after this one", etc), then it will obviously sound as exciting as any lead guitarist who is technically great but whose playing lack's soul and originality - of which (whom🤔?) there are plenty.
Just pick your own favorite four words that have one, two, three, and four syllables and apply them. You don't have to use his. And yes, it is probably made up. But what he is doing is making it easier to understand how to apply different rhythms for those that have difficulty doing it.

Well , you only have to look at Guitar George, he knows all the chords , but he’s strictly rhythm, he doesn’t want to make it cry or sing ,, 👍👍🤠🎸
And to think that he does it all on an old guitar when he gets up under the lights to play his thing.
Helluva musician that Guitar George. The Sultans of Swing are lucky to have him.
@ it’s all he can afford 👍👍🤠🎸
@@c.h.fieldsports9876 👍🤣😆🤣✌
Guitar George is George Young brother of Malcolm and Angus
Wow great video, great explanation 👏. Thank you very much 🙏
I love just playing the rhythm sitting beneath the lead, grooving with the bass and drums.

I'm a Rhythm guitar player too and I'm not ashamed to admit it..... LOL
Rhythm serves the song, the solo serves the guitar player.
Great video as always Eddie. Were you just playing all downstrokes?
Dam Eddie cool stuff!!
Great lesson, I wish I had learned this 55 years ago, as I would have avoided alot of heart breaks
Great lesson, rhythm is the ultimate! Who makes that guitar?
Thank you for the video i have to get a metronome thank you. That's going to Help me 🎸🎸
Happy New Year Eddie! 🤟🏻🧢

Great lesson! Sounds like you’ve been hanging out with Lexi!
Nice!
When I see a crowd dance to a guitar solo, then I'll say rhythm guitar isn't more important.
Interesting !!!
Anyone familiar with Nancy Wilson (Heart), who prefers to play rhythm guitar, would never view this as a less important aspect of playing.

What is that guitar?
Malcom Young. Mike drop.
Amen

No one would call Maclom Young ordinary rhythm guitar is the back bone of good song or band.
Hover craft reminds me of James Hetfield.

The ladies love the rhythm. Haha
You’re making it up because I never hear this ever!

And soloing is for people that don’t have any rhythm
Ironically the majority of solo guitarists are boring as hell themselves with their constant arpeggio shredding with no phrasing whatsoever
Are you kidding me, if there is no rhythm your leads would suck 😅😅😅😅
