I fondly remember watching this show every Friday night on CBS. I was either in my teens or late teens not 100% certain. I almost never missed an episode. I give amazing respect for both actors and how they brought the Hulk to life on the small screen.

They ended up doing a sort of "enemy doing good things" with Jack McGee, and with the A-Team. The "hunter" would end up cleaning up the "bad guy mess" left by the "hunted". It was nice to have adversaries who were still honorable in their way.
I think it's time for another good "Fugitive" type show like this or The Pretender (and, obviously, The Fugitive). Someone roaming from town to town getting involved in peoples lives with the person trying to getting away from their pursuers.
I love when David's getting taken down and subdued, his first concern isnt for him it's for the cops going on easy on Cassie since she is pregnant and try's letting them know that, even though they don't seem to care.. He was my childhood idol for these reasons..
Also the graphics at the top were top notch and loved the first transformation when they showed Fire all around David as he transformed in this episode.
One thing you forget is that the producers and writers were willing to develop the character of their "Javert." McGee is actually a pretty good reporter, and its clear that the writers liked the character. He's on the scene, quick to put 2 and 2 together, and can set aside his growing obsession with the Hulk (at least this early in the series) to focus on important issues. They even made him the focus of a couple of episodes, and, of course, Jack Colvin directed a few. Also, McGee was able to figure out the Hulk's nature - he knows everything about the Hulk except who he is and how he got that way. I read somewhere that Kenneth Johnson had intended a final episode where McGee finally sees Banner face to face, knows whom he has been chasing all those years, and realizes the most humane thing he could do was let Banner go. And there would be a look on McGee's face - a great burden finally lifted from his soul. He could finally release his long-time obsession. A shame it never came to pass.
I watched every episode of _The Incredible Hulk_ when I was young, so I am going by memory about McGee. I think the producers and writers never helped McGee advance his career as a journalist. Remember that he works for The National Register which is a tabloid and hardly a credible newspaper. He had opportunities, for most of the series' episodes, to write articles about the people whom David helped and what their problem was along with the resolution, and NOT about the Hulk. McGee would have won a Pulitzer for traveling all around country and getting these stories! He could have been hired by a legit newspaper during the series' run. This was the part where I felt producer Kenneth Johnson squandered.
They did a tv movie called The Death of The Incredible Hulk in continuity with Returns and The Trial Of. It didn’t air despite being completed. I have watched it way way later on DVD. In the finale as The Hulk actually did finally die and changed back to David McGee was there to see the change back as they played The Lonely Man and Bixby gave the final line “I’m free”.
@@justinbisonette1947 No, Jack Colvin (Jack McGee) wasn't in the last movie. He wasn't even referred to. There was going to be a fourth movie in which the Hulk would be revived, but it never got made, and Bill Bixby died before any plans could be made.
I doubt that would ever happen, maybe a few of the bad cops. He has served in several sheriff departments as volunteer, reserve, and special deputy, so it would appear that he is on the side of the law. Street thugs, looters, rioters, child molesters, drug dealers, mass shooters, ANTIFA, Nazis, KKK, etc. would probably be a different story.
