Great video once again Thomas. Couple of questions... 1.What's with the different colours of Safe4? 2. Do Safe4 and Leucillin kill all the same things that F10 says it kills down to the longer contact times on the bottle?
@@DanSmith-bd9dn thank you! 1- the different colours are their different scents. They also have a clear, non scented, version. Personally I like the smells but some people might not! I think the mint (blue) is my favourite, but ask me another day and I may say green (apple)! 2- safe4 will kill all the same stuff if used accordingly. And Leucillin should in theory kill pretty much everything too - maybe even some extra stuff. There’s a few studies on “Hypochlorous Acid” and the different strengths of it which show it to be a VERY potent chemical.
Great video, I had a roundworm outbreak in my animals so this was especially interesting to me! Hygiene is underrated for sure when caring for animals. Do you know if Safe4 also destroys eggs of nematodes effectively? From what I’ve read in papers they’re quite hard to kill with any chemical and applying heat is usually the way to go.
Thank you for watching!! My understanding is that parasites can be a bit more difficult to kill. However, a cleaner like Safe4 will make the mechanical process of removing eggs easier - as it is a cationic surfactant. I have no doubt that a high concentration and a long dwell time will do some damage to many parasite eggs, but I don't think it's a 'prescribed use'. Worms are often best treated with a veterinary medicine, such as Fenbendazole or Ivermectin - as prescribed by a vet. Fenbendazole is used a lot in exotics as it's shown to be relatively safe for many taxa. This is often the 'best' way to get rid of a worm infection.
@ I always use Panacur (fenben) for deworming and it works like a charm and I’ve never had any of my animals get bad side effects! I’m not sure it even kills the eggs, but it does kill most hatched / adult nematodes. It’s normal to repeat after 2 weeks to get all the newly hatched ones too. Because pinworms and roundworms partly stay in the body through ingestion of the eggs I also had to maintain a very clean environment. Thanks for the answer!
I also throw hypochlorous on anything and everything not fast enough to escape me (only a slight exaggeration). I’m a fan of a bit of chlorhexidine too, but you have to be more careful with that.
I'm actually not certain it's available in the US. It's worth reaching out to them to see if they have a retailer in the states, or any plans to get one :)
Not all zoos, but it's certainly something that I push for. They come from subsaharan Africa generally, with lots of sunshine and opportunity to get all the benefits from full-spectrum sunlight! It's good welfare!
@@yuanheli307there is no “equivalent”, but we do use them for reference. Often reptiles and mammals use similar microclimates. We also use common sense. For example a zebra that comes from the open plains of Africa and sits out in full sun for much of the time may be considered equivalent to FZ4. But we play it safe and use lower end of that.
Great video - im glad to hear someone praising us - regards Safe4 Warehouse Manager Stefan
@@stefanward6839 thanks for watching, Stefan! You guys deserve all the praise you get!
I'm going to be buying these now. Super excited about these products that I was unaware of.
@@FangedFelid have fun choosing a scent for Safe4. I can never decide which my favourite is 😂
Good stuff as usual. Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it :)
