      After having travelled to several different parts of China, what's your opinion(s) regarding the food, the people, the transportation, the infrastructure there? What about the cashless payment there? Will you be travelling to China again as it's a vast country?

      Do you think China has become too commercialized, with many similar commercial streets in major cities? What is your view on these commercial streets? Would you visit China again? If so, where would you choose to go?

      Unlike the British who took Hong Kong as a spoil of the Opium War, Macau was leased from China in 1557 for payment of an annual rent. The Portuguese tried to change the leasehold status to one of Portuguese territory without success until 1887 when the Chinese agreed to recognise it as Portuguese. It was handed over to China in 1999.

    Hi Ken, it is Zhu from China, and subscribed you now. I knew you from Bilibili, and saw in your vedio that you are sad of your vedios being moved to Bilibili. I am sorry for that, and maybe you can have your Bilibili account the. you can upload your own vedios(better with Chinese translations)!
    I want explain to you they move your vedios because they like your vedio and they added translation. As you know, China need VPN and most people don’t speak English, so most people can’t reach your vedios on TH-cam. But Bilibili show Chinese how good how calm you are, you are liked by many Bilibili users.

    Just came across this set of videos for first time, after spending a few years watching other vloggers. Very impressed with the excellent presentation and you're so positive and friendly with local people etc and trying new things. We were in Macao last December and were amazed by the place and visited that hotel, just for a coffee, which was good. I didn't realise the price for a room was quite as reasonable, as we'd visited an hotel in Sanya (just for coffee) which was over 2000 yuan per night. Guess this was how Marco Polo reacted when he went to China, in 13th Century.

    There's nothing "fake" about the Parisian Hotel in the same way there isn't anything fake about the Brandenburg Gate in your native Germany, even though it's a copy the Propylaea of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. The hotel is owned by Las Vegas Sands (which has a similar property in Vegas); replicating famous monuments is not unique to China, yet the term "fake," driven by racist stereotypes, is only associated with China in the westerner's mindset.

    My paternal grandmother was born in Macau and married my grandfather in Guangzhou. I have relatives in Macau, HK, Guangzhou, Shanghai and different cities of USA. I’ve been to Macau in 2001 right after the handover from Portugal. My paternal uncle (my father’s cousin) was a senator in the 1999 handover ceremony in Macau. If you watch the handover ceremony in 1999 and the inauguration ceremony, you can see a tall and slim male with gray hair. That is my paternal uncle. When we were in Macau visiting my paternal relatives, there weren’t as many casinos. Now they added more casinos. The food is still Cantonese cuisine but with some Portuguese twist, such as the Portuguese egg tart (a little sweeter than the Cantonese egg tart version).

      Today "fake"Japanese and Korean food are mixed with traditional Chinese food and other countries.

    As a Chinese person that has lived both in China and abroad, I would definitely recommend visiting Shenzhen, next to Hong Kong (the only first tier city you haven't visited, alongside Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou). It is also worth while visiting some smaller cities if you want to get the whole picture of China, but be warned it could be challenging because potentially less people speak English there. Typically bigger cities and coastal cities in the south and east of China are more developed and wealthier, cities inland especially in the north and west are typically industrial cities and less developed, but the infrastructure would be similar. Inland cities like Zhengzhou, Shenyang, Chengdu and Changsha are also good choices (first two more typical inland cities, last two are inland cities with better developed tourism).

      Chinese people prefer harder beds to soft ones because the former are kind of ergonomic, preventing your back from sagging all night. :)

    • @ymhktravel
      @ymhktravel 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you sleep on a soft mattress, your body may sink too deeply into the surface, causing your spine to curve unnaturally. This can lead to back pain, muscle stiffness, and joint discomfort. But if you are already suffering from back pain, then a soft mattress do provide more relief for these people. People who sleep on their stomach and back tends to prefer firm bed and those who sleep on their sides, soft bed.

    26:05 Tsingtao (Qingdao) was German colony. Tsingtao Brewery was founded by German. However Germany lost the wars. It lost everything in the far east. Maybe you would like to visit Tsingtao (Qingdao) as the local people still thank the Germans for building the advanced sewage system they still using today. Ironically people remember Macau was Portuguese and Hong Kong was British. No one remembers Tsingtao (Qingdao) was Germans nor Canton (Guangzhou) was French.
