Actually you didn't eat crêpes, but galettes de sarrasin (or blé noir), which are made out of buckwheat, salt and water, and are usually stuffed with savory things? Crêpes, made out of milk, sugar, eggs, regular flour and rhum, are more for sweet fillings (confiture, sugar, crème de marrons, anything you like). Don't tell Breton people galettes and crêpes are the same thing, they'll lose their minds. Oh, and choosing Pierre Hermé over Ladurée, that's an expert move. Congratulations. :D They're waaay better.
That's exactly what came to my mind seeing them struggle with them... Seemed as delicious as a galette de sarrasin can get... Just love it. Discovered them many many years ago in Britanny (with a bowl of cider of course)! Greetings from Belgium!
It was painful to see you guys struggling with the steak tartare. You really have to mix it all up and ad seasoning. Otherwise it really won't be any good. Why are Americans so hung up on the idea of eating raw beef anyway?
Except restaurants must do ground meat with very severe rules (cold grounding machine , done at the last moment right before serving and good quality meat .People prefer horse meat which sounds really weird for Americans and Canadians) American pasteurise every cheese which totally wrong in France. Bacterias in the cheese make it change its taste and structure. Nobody dies from eating like that. Americans die from eating industrial processed food with tons of sugars and salt
In America, we're raised to fear everything. In Europe, for instance, eggs aren't washed, and so can stay on the counter. Here, our eggs are washed, and will go bad fast if we don't keep them in the fridge. Our beef is rarely fresh enough to be safely eaten. We are raised to fear unpasteurized dairy. Basically we're trained to think our food will kill is, but then to go off and eat far too much fast food. I have eaten at places here in the US that serve raw beef. It's fine. I also love unpasteurized milk and eggs.

Exactly, I like when it all comes separate, but the point is to mix it all together and spread it on crostinis. Just eating raw ground steak 😂 that's a mistake.
We could tell that the tartare you got was not the best because it was made with a meat grinder. With this kind of machine it could be any part of a beef that you have eaten. The best tartare are made with filet of beef which is cut with a knife. That what we call in France a "tartare au couteau"

the tar tare was strange/ under seasoned for them because they decided to have everything on the side and not mixed up how its suppose to be served. Its probably really good once the capers and onions are mixed in.
to eat steak tartare, you have to mix all the seasonings and the egg into the meat. It is done before it is served on your plate. you dont just eat the raw meat and dip it in the egg yolk. ugh. ignoramus.
For the steack tartare, you need to prepar it yourself. mix all the ingredient and add the condiments, the sauce... on the table... Don't be shy and ask the waiter how to eat the steack tartar. Personnally I prefere when it's already prepared in the kitchen ,because is marinated tartare.
Chef Andros : Steak tartare should be mixed with all ingredients including salt, black pepper and mustard. You don't use a fork, you spread it on toast or grouton. The meat must be very fresh, BUT you always have the risk of E-coli. Personally I advised my customers not to have it just to show off !!!!
+Evi1M4chine Look up Pierre Hermé, where they bought these macarons. He is known the world over. In fact, Hermé is the one chef who reinvented pastry and brought it to this current era of pastry. And probably his most famous pastry is called Ispahan, it's a very famous giant rose macaron with strawberries and litchees. Rose macarons are truely delicious, as are violet pastries.
I've had crepes elsewhere and tried a dessert crepe in Paris. It came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a shot of liquor to pour over it. It was epic beyond words- I didn't get that fuzzy epic feeling from this place you waited for an hour.
The best food in Paris is found in the backallys. There are lots of tiny cafes and restaurants with excellent food, service and prices. You usually get real homemade food and not the mass produced expensive stuff you find in more crowded areas.
Supercat Don’t apologize for your English, you did well and you speak two languages!!! That’s awesome. I’m going to Paris August 2018 would like someone to show us around
Tartare isn't all about raw meat. You got to mix ingredients alltogether. You can add Worcestershire sauce to add a vinegary touch. The vinegar helps "cooking" the meat (sort of) and removes the slight iron taste of raw meat.
Steak tartare is a classic dish! How come you don't know how to eat it? It can only be eaten raw - mixed in with ALL the ingredients - if it's first class beef. Otherwise you would get food poisening! And also, Pierre Hermé is an award winning patissier. There is nó food colouring in his macarons, believe me! He started at Laduree, well known for their outstanding patisseries! Seems to me, if you do a vlog on French food, you gather some info beforehand? Just sayin'....😊
Cool you tried the tartare. You are suppose to mix everything otherwise it is quiet tasteless. Raw minced beef has basically no flavour, it is mostly for the texture (as is the egg yolk). The oignon, capers and herbs create the flavour. It is quiet a good portion you had there, it is difficult to digest. It is not a super common meal for french people because you need to have superfresh meat and then have to trust you butcher. But it is not rare (no pun intended ...). Hope you enjoyed, I find it pretty delicious.
The crepes you had are called 'Gallettes' and they make them out of buckwheat flour rather than normal wheat flour. Jus so ya know ; ) I practically live off of them when I got to France. They're simple, but tasty and super filling. €9.50 though? Damn. That's pretty pricey, I think they're usually about half that.
If the thought of totally raw meat doesn’t appeal, try ordering Tartare Aller-Retour (basically translates as tartare out and back) which is steak tartare that is quickly seared on both sides. It is more like a rare hamburger in appearance and has some of seared flavor of a rare steak.
Hello! May I suggest some new items and dishes for you to try the next time you’ re in Paris? 1. Canelés - a delicious pastry infused with rum and vanilla, crispy on the outside and custard-like on the inside. 2. Coq au vin - chicken/rooster cooked in a red wine sauce. Delish! 3. Croque-Monsieur - Grilled ham and cheese sandwich with Mornay cheese sauce and Dijon mustard. Yummm. 4. Boeuf Bourgingnon - slow cooked beef in a wine sauce. A must try. 5. Foie gras. You can’t go to Paris (or indeed anywhere in France) without trying this delicacy. 6. Absinthe. This was the go-to beverage for Parisiens during the Belle Epoque, until it was banned in 1914. Now it has made a tremendous comeback, with absinthe bars dotting the bar scene of Paris. A 70% alchohol liquor, tempered with water and sugar during an intricate process using a dispensing water samowar, an ornate filigree spoon and sugarcubes. A beautiful Parisian ritual in its own right, not to be missed! Hope you’ll find these tips useful 😀
The way how you eat the steak tartare is a bit like a murder, you have to mix all the ingredients guys ! Anyway I hope your enjoyed your stay in France
If you ever get to germanies southern parts there is something called "Bratwurst Hack" Which basicly is the same what the Bratwurst is made of, without the formgiving surrounding. It is serverd usually with finely sliced onions and some bread. Some people order also a raw egg yolk with it, like with the beef tatar. Mix it up, put it on the bread, salt and pepper and good to go. In comparison to beef tatar it is made of pigs meat and already mixed with a composition of herbs.
I'm from Milwaukee and we eat raw ground round on rye with raw onion and a touch of salt. I love it, my kids like it, my grandkids are so-so on it. Notice it's ground round, not sirloin or ribeye, too much marbling, trim off all the fat and grind it up. Enjoy!
It did make me smile when Alison described Eric's crepe as veggie and then described the ingredients as including prosciutto. Eric's face at the prospect of steak tartare was hilarious. I mistakenly ordered it once and despite my fears when it arrived I actually enjoyed it.
I like how unpretentious and authentic you all are. You're pretty open-minded without loving everything. It's quite refreshing. By the way, French cuisine does not include food colouring. This is more of an American practice.
I agree. Check this procedure www.star-clicks.com/secure/redirect.asp?d25=1&sa=l&ai=BI4-SdyRiRavUPJPa2QLR8qX6A_PSryDv8NbxAZav5QSQ_ZcBEAEYBCgIQIoWSK45ULv0qv0BYLu-roPQCpgB53OgAcWxgf8DyAEBgAIBlQIcelYKqQKhmwf05ay_PsgCj89e&num=6&adid=6117&keyid=zero&pid=20795238450948301
Hello, steak tartare is delicious. But.... You MUST mix all the ingredients together and the best is to add some mayo and even a little mustard. Do not mix too much or it becomes mushy. Add some delicious fries and you get a traditional "steak tartare frites".
italian food isn't as diverse as french food. when it comes to tastes, it's different for each person but french food is known as the best for several reasons... It's tasty and have a loooot of different typical dishes. I also like italian food, i have been to italia twice and (as much as i love it) italian food can't reach the level of french food
LOL, French food is not known at all, never heard about anybody says French has the "best" food. That's just your opinion, "italian food can't reach the level of french food" as the matter of fact one of best restaurant in the Michelin guide is "Osteria Francescana" Italian restaurant and Italian chef. You can also find many website that put first the Italian cuisine. This is just one: www.ranker.com/list/countries-with-the-best-food/ranker-travel
"French food is not known at all, never heard about anybody says French has the "best" food"... Ah!ah!ah! sorry man but what you said is so ridiculous that I'm laughing !
You just need taste-buds buddies. In France, mummies give a wide choice of tasty food to their babies - it does affect your adulthood to develop an educated palate at an early age. I love to watch the worried faces you make when you try a small bite of something as ordinary as a biscuit. And then the heavy ceremonial when you attempt to "taste" the raw meet and voicing your worries as if it's going to be a difficult thing to eat a steak tartare. It just shows the poverty of taste opportunities you have in your country. Quel dommage !
Paris is not notorious for its food, it is famous. Notoriety is not the same thing as fame or renown. Please learn the difference. Try this restaurant Le Souper Chartier; I'd rather go there again as opposed to La Tour d'Argent - but the view is grander. Just a friendly suggestion. Bon appetit!
Tartare pro-tip : Chopped is better than ground !(Tartare !) And mix it with all the ingredients, it will totally change the taste and the texture, otherwise you will just be eating raw beef with an egg yolk on top ! :p
For the tartare, and good on you for trying, you need to mix it all up and then eat it on toast points. To die for! and we eat it at least once a day when in France! Going in a few days and plan to have it every lunch!
Somebody probably already said this, but you should have mixed the steak tartare ingredients together before eating it. That's why they offered you the "already mixed" option. In some places, they will do it tableside. Not sure I agree with your 5 choices either. Would not have chosen macarons. Maybe tarte aux citron, aux pommes, or even an éclair. You actually ordered galettes and not crêpes. Another option would have been a Croque Monsieur. Still, your videos are great and glad you're spreading the word that you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a memorable experience in the world.
Bravo , you ate beef tartare, way back while working in garde manger (cold kitchen, I am indian chef by the way), one of Danish chef gave us demo on beef tartare, so you got to mix all those accompaniment to eat it, well it takes time to develop taste for these kinda food.
Next time in Germany try their pork version of tartar. Mette, minced raw pork seasoned and with onions. On a half breakfast cob, extra raw onions on top and salt and pepper. I love the stuff, last visit to the inlaws I had it every morning for breakfast, fresh made in local butchers I ate 1kg in 2 weeks(must be bought fresh daily). Steak tartar needs loads of white pepper and salt otherwise its bland.
We hope you enjoyed this delicious day! If you'd like to see more food adventures around the world, make sure you subscribe ~~> bit.ly/1Nnl2kq We post new travel videos every Monday, Wednesday and Friday!

Personally I advised my customers not to have it just to show off !!!!
the best advice ever given, that the straight croissants are made with butter and the curved with margarine. thank you
Shame! Rose water is a very old cooking ingredient. How can you be surprised? It's gorgeous.
pabmusic1 - They probably would not be a fan of Turkish Delight/Lokum then! So lovely 😍
+ Evi1M4chine And all because you say so...
rose macarons are my fave! people are so weird with things they've never had smh
Rose macarons are truely delicious, as are violet pastries.
rose jelly was my favorite thing in France so yummy
Great content ! pls make more of this content RIGHT NOW
Loved this video!! Makes me want to go back to Paris and try so much more food! Definitely noting these down for next time!!
Awesome! Hope you get back to Paris soon 🇫🇷
I love the way they share the macaroons so pre covid ☺
I'm french, i love your vidéos but tartare mix up all ingrédients (sorry for my english)
Supercat Don’t apologize for your English, you did well and you speak two languages!!! That’s awesome. I’m going to Paris August 2018 would like someone to show us around
Definitely. You have to mix the ingredients together and add some seasoning (worcestershire and tabasco sauces). Otherwise, it's just... raw beef.
Tartare isn't all about raw meat. You got to mix ingredients alltogether. You can add Worcestershire sauce to add a vinegary touch. The vinegar helps "cooking" the meat (sort of) and removes the slight iron taste of raw meat.
We'll have to give it a go next time we visit! Blending all the flavors together definitely sounds a bit more appetizing :)
Hope you enjoyed, I find it pretty delicious.
you have to mix well all the ingredients
the bagpipes whooped that crazy piano thing 😂😂😂😂 great video once again
Hah!! Thanks so much!
ceejay 1872 not bagpipes but a piano Accordion
korea has similar food raw beef, and it tastes really really good like sushi. and french one looks also good too!
That makes me happy to know that people actually likes franch food because I'm franch so I'm a little bit proud...
The crepes you had are called 'Gallettes' and they make them out of buckwheat flour rather than normal wheat flour. Jus so ya know ; )
I practically live off of them when I got to France. They're simple, but tasty and super filling. €9.50 though? Damn. That's pretty pricey, I think they're usually about half that.
Welcome to Paris mate, price go up every day
Non les crêpes sont les crêpes, les galettes sont des biscuits, sauf pour les rennais les faux bretons.
If the thought of totally raw meat doesn’t appeal, try ordering Tartare Aller-Retour (basically translates as tartare out and back) which is steak tartare that is quickly seared on both sides. It is more like a rare hamburger in appearance and has some of seared flavor of a rare steak.
Loved the music in this one!
Thanks!
yea I'm trying to find the name
@@Theendlessadventure Can you post link for original sound track.
Steak tartare is amazing guys. You needed to mix up that meat with all the trimmings. Then put it on the toast and enjoy!
What did your friend order it looked really good but you guys totally left him out.
croissant + nutella = heaven
You have to have the onion and herbs in it then spread it on toast or rye bread. Yummmmmmmmm tartare
It's pretty cool 👌 fantastic guys 😎 introduced french foods 😁 and culture..thanks a lot
Great video...made me hungry. :)
wow, unexpectedly :)
Rose flavour is common in Indian deserts and Turkish delight. I LOVE it.
Oh je suis de ornederhonkkkkkk. Did videyo was ah how you say magnefique
TheTravelingClatt oh Tal ! 😆🙈
oh, how you say, thank you
The Endless Adventure
Merci is thank you ;)
TheTravelingClatt Je suis de Amérique
Those crepes are gallettes made with ble noir sarrazin. Crepes are normally sweet whilst gallettes are normally savoury and gluten free
There was absolutely no line before Instagram
Matt licking his lips while you ate the macarons is me watching these videos ;)
+drkellyncsu 😂
You should set up a counter for every time the bloke says "Delight"
I might do that next time 😂
@5:12 the side man is like : " what Am I here for? just to look at it and drool? " 😂😂
You guys deserve way more subscribers. Good job, folks !
Thanks so much, Karthik! 🙌
Rename this channel “the endless frikin food adventure”
I'm from Milwaukee and we eat raw ground round on rye with raw onion and a touch of salt. I love it, my kids like it, my grandkids are so-so on it. Notice it's ground round, not sirloin or ribeye, too much marbling, trim off all the fat and grind it up. Enjoy!
The thing is French food as I know is not meant to adapted to street food. French food is unique, special, its magic
You should go to Korea and try their version of steak tartare, Yukhoe.
No thanks they serve dog meat there
You need to mix the fixing with the steak tartar to fully capture its essence
The crepes looked amazing, how much were they?
€ 9.50
They usually put the prices in the description :)
Karoline Mathy thank u
It did make me smile when Alison described Eric's crepe as veggie and then described the ingredients as including prosciutto. Eric's face at the prospect of steak tartare was hilarious. I mistakenly ordered it once and despite my fears when it arrived I actually enjoyed it.
I like how unpretentious and authentic you all are. You're pretty open-minded without loving everything. It's quite refreshing. By the way, French cuisine does not include food colouring. This is more of an American practice.
And falling out of popularity.
macaroons don't have food coloring?
You're supposed to mix the raw beef, egg, onions and capers to get tartare
I agree. Check this procedure www.star-clicks.com/secure/redirect.asp?d25=1&sa=l&ai=BI4-SdyRiRavUPJPa2QLR8qX6A_PSryDv8NbxAZav5QSQ_ZcBEAEYBCgIQIoWSK45ULv0qv0BYLu-roPQCpgB53OgAcWxgf8DyAEBgAIBlQIcelYKqQKhmwf05ay_PsgCj89e&num=6&adid=6117&keyid=zero&pid=20795238450948301
HAVE YOU JUST CRITICIZED PIERRE HERME MACARONS???
:c
Hello, steak tartare is delicious. But.... You MUST mix all the ingredients together and the best is to add some mayo and even a little mustard. Do not mix too much or it becomes mushy. Add some delicious fries and you get a traditional "steak tartare frites".
It's a good video. I'm a parisian for 4 decades and I didn't know about these crepes in this market. They indeed look good and unusually stuffed.
En réalité ce sont des galettes et non des crêpes.
Psychocouac enfin un vrai breton
You never think of street food in France you think of fancy restaurants but it looked really good
La nourriture française est la meilleur au monde!!
c'est vrai!
Not even close to be the best, in fact Italian is way better :p
italian food isn't as diverse as french food. when it comes to tastes, it's different for each person but french food is known as the best for several reasons...
Murray Aronson you're a pompous douchebag!
Awesome video. Going back to Paris soon. Thx for all of the foodie tips. 😊
Why not go during the time of day when it's slow.
Tartare pro-tip : Chopped is better than ground !(Tartare !) And mix it with all the ingredients, it will totally change the taste and the texture, otherwise you will just be eating raw beef with an egg yolk on top ! :p
We'll definitely mix it all up next time!
The veggie is with prosciutto ? That is impossible ! (prosciutto is ham, Italian) ...anyway, good Video !
At 5:18 the guy on the bench I was convinced he was for sure looking to pick pocket LOL
For the tartare, and good on you for trying, you need to mix it all up and then eat it on toast points. To die for! and we eat it at least once a day when in France! Going in a few days and plan to have it every lunch!
As a Mexican that loves raw cow meat with some lemon and chile mixed and on a tostada I'm so excited to taste that steak tartare when I go to France!!
You're just inexperienced "Bless you heart". Steak Tartar is one of the great culinary treasures of history. Hope your taste will mature.
I prefer French candy over Mexican candy. Anyday. Who agrees with me?
Eugene Derry I
TH-cam suggested this 5-year-old video, and I'm glad it did! Strange seeing people sitting so close to each other now. 😷
Steak frites is my fave French dish
Bravo , you ate beef tartare, way back while working in garde manger (cold kitchen, I am indian chef by the way), one of Danish chef gave us demo on beef tartare, so you got to mix all those accompaniment to eat it, well it takes time to develop taste for these kinda food.
One drawback: Paris is mighty expensive. It is pronounced 'crepps' not grapes, pls. Thk u guys. Nice trip, great video.
oh i've given up on the english ^^ you should hear how they say "van Gogh" (vaan Goff)
I am in Paris right now, I found the crepe stall in the market. Amazing. I plan on going back to the market for dinner later on. Great video guys.
I like the video, thanks for making it.
Just one thing: could you perhaps eat with your mouth closed?
Next time in Germany try their pork version of tartar.
Mette, minced raw pork seasoned and with onions. On a half breakfast cob, extra raw onions on top and salt and pepper.
I love the stuff, last visit to the inlaws I had it every morning for breakfast, fresh made in local butchers I ate 1kg in 2 weeks(must be bought fresh daily). Steak tartar needs loads of white pepper and salt otherwise its bland.
Mettwurst
If you saw a sliver of pork under a microscope, you would never eat it again, especially raw.
