I appreciate that you have done this video, I did the replacement today, used Part #: WPK 41122 (from Napa Auto Parts, Canada). Paid about 100 CAD for the pump itself and about 50 CAD for the 36mm Fan Clutch Wrench kit (used Powerbuilt 647074 Ford Fan Clutch Wrench Set, yes it's primarily for Ford xD). Took me about 1:30h to 2:00h (mostly trying to find the other tools), the other screws showed in the video here were 1/2" and 10mm (which sounds weird to have both metric and imperial).
The only thing I did that wasn't shown in the video was to unplug the negative cable of my battery, for extra safety.
Summary:
Car: GMC Canyon 2005
Cost: 150 CAD (100 for the pump and 50 for fan clutch wrench)
Part: WPK 41122 (from Napa Auto Parts, Canada)
Time spent: 1:30h to 2:00h
Tools: Fan Clutch Wrench set (36mm), 1/2" combination wrench, 10mm combination wrench, 3/8" drive ratchet (to remove/place serpentine belt),Thread locker, Wet Sandpaper (1200 grit, to remove some of the gunk and help clean where the old gasket was) and a big flat screwdriver (to remove the clips)

My 05' LT colorado just sprunk a leak at 164,000. I've been hearing the bearing making some funny noises for a few months now but just prayed to the gods and turned up the radio 😂. Your video has made the process so much more simple and far easier than I could have ever expected! Just about to fill her back up again and the whole ordeal was less than 30 minutes. Already had my water pump replaced but now my fan clutch needs to be replaced. This looks like something I can do myself!
Thanks for the how to, the shop wants $450.00 for doing this job, parts and tools on Amazon for $120.00 with the Canadian made OEM acdelco pump.
Nice video, but next time disconnect the lower radiator hose first, not the top one. it will make much less of a mess.

At 243,000 miles, My 2005 gmc canyon i5, just sprung a leak in the waterpump and radiator. How did this video just pop up after the fact? Its obvious these smartphones are listening to us.

I wouldn't want to buy another colorado. I've had to replace the rear axle, fuel pump, fuel lines, gas tank, window regulator, pinion seal 4 times. On the 4th time I bought the seal from chevy instead of aftermarket and its held up for a while now. I've got 148000 miles on mine and it's a 2006.
@@outoftime788 if i had to pick another small truck that wouldn't be expensive I'd pick my Colorado again. 200k miles 3.7L and all I've done is spark plugs, oil, diff fluid, timing belt or basically just normal maintenance. Only big thing was my wheel bearings but that was cuz i got dirt in my ABS sensors. Other than that it hasn't failed me. They're great trucks but there is some common problems. One is the leaking seal on the fuel pump that will throw a CEL.
@@outoftime788 I've had my 2009 Canyon for almost 11 years. It's been a neat little reliable and dependable 5-speed for me. I just hit 155K miles the other weekend. That being said, it does have some electrical quirks. For instance, the security system doesn't always get along with my aftermarket stereo. One of the tire pressure sensors went out. I got a new ignition switch installed. I had my dealer replace the HVAC resistor about 2 years ago and I replaced the HVAC blower motor earlier this spring. I had to replace the turn signal switch one summer because I had a trailer light adapter causing excessive feedback, which made my cruise control shut off randomly. The brake switch started acting up on me, and it turns out there was a recall on the switch. Finally, the biggest/strangest repair I had to do was replace the BCM when it got fried in an electrical storm. All that being said, these were minor inconveniences that occurred over a long period of time. I've done the normal maintenance thing, oil changes, new tires, wipers, etc. had the starter replaced 5 years ago, timing belt replaced 2 years ago, it still has the original water pump, fuel pump, tranny, clutch and alternator *knock on wood* and it's on its 4th battery. I plan to keep it as long as she turns over and lets me go into gear lol. If I were to get a different Canyon, I'd go for an Extended- or Crew-Cab. I have a big dog now and he takes up a lot of room in a Regular Cab lol.

Thanks for the video. I didn't use the tool, used a big crescent wrench but it wasn't that tight could have used some channel locks I think. Also you can remove the entire fan shroud easily in one piece and avoid flying clips - will need to disconnect the fan and remove the fan and shroud together. Mechanics choice :)

Have a look at the air powered fan clutch remover/installer... ours is made by Lisle , has an assortment of spanners of different sizes, which go onto a rod that fits into an air hammer... it's like having an impact wrench to bust fan clutches loose, and also snug em down good when putting them back on...

- depende si es solo el empaque que está mal o tirando líquido. Si la bomba está mal tienes que cambiarlo también.
If your gasket is the only thing leaking yes, otherwise a bad pump will need to be replaced.

One question. What is the water pump bolts head size. I tried 3/8 and 10mm on my 2011 model but neither fit. I'm assuming a 10.5mm will work but didn't have time to order one.

Are you sure it's the 36" wrench?? I got that and it seems a lil lose and keeps slipping! Could it be the 32" the right size wrench?? I know they got a 32" wrench!

Did you use any thread lock or sealant on the water pump's mounting bolts?
Why did the pump look so different then the original?

ismaelizon it’s more likely low on coolant or a blend air door in the dash. The doors inside the dashboard have a little servo motors that commonly go out. You may hear clicking noises in the dash.

It is a common problem with any vehicle that has 243,000 miles.
Colorado started 2004... Not 2003 that was the s10

My Colly has 214,000 miles on it and the water pump has started spitting out metallic particles/ bearing material. Time for a repair
