Are all the games available in English or through fan translations?
No, but Aeon Genesis is translating multiple entries, and have already translated at least 3 more.

And pretty much any other game in the series has extensive gameplay and story walkthroughs on gamefaqs/the akurasu wiki that you can use to play alongside a game you want. These games are VERY import friendly. Many play them without knowing a lick of Japanese.

I'm so happy to be a part of this community now! The games that I've currently got under my belt are: Endless Frontier, OG the moon dwellers and Srwv. Lastly I own Srww, SrwX, Srw OG2 and I plan to get Srw OF before I tear into these.

Your history with SRW is very similar to mine. I used to play a lot of Fire Emblem games, then someday I was looking for some new GBA games to play, that's when I found out about the Super Robot Wars OG and I immediately fell in love with the game.
My list is:

Here is my gameplay
I pick the baldios es pilot because i wanna play as a girl ( this is gonna change )
and we have to fight several enemys and to be completly honestly i dont know japanese AT ALL even tho im asian (lol) and by supported by quattre and duo we finish of them and some other robots ( i only watch gundam but i know nobody except for the gundams #riptome ) and the cc and the black knights show up
And when i have to brance i was given 2 options the super robots ( i havent upgreat them AT ALL and the gundams with the black knights i upgreat deathsyther and sandrock to LEVEL 7 and the worse part I PICK THE SUPER ROBOTS i mean sure its fine and all but yeah go ahead with it and was actualy having fun thats is what SRW or SRT is for exploring robots and MS for to look for
Man when i did mission 20 (idk im dum ) when the boss was just have 5000 hp left and i have 1 left already use the main MS of the game i decided "eh 1 more turn is fine (but that where the plot twist the main enemy ( which i havent know who is takes the brasta es and turn the pilot to a Monster? Yeah that was nuts.....

OG 2 is still got a great story all of time

One of my favorite one will the Super Robot wars for the Nes....since my old man got into the mecha series because of this..
I'm gonna give my top 7 here, in this order.
Z: just the pure amount of attention to details, not just on major units but on many minor units as well. Difficulty was right on spot, the amount of optional units. Despite being 10years old, it still has some of the best animations in the series. Not to mention its also the only SRW game that made the squad system fun to play.
Alpha: I started SRW with F back in Saturn. But Alpha was the one that made me a fans. Skippable battle scene, animating mechs, more realistic gundam (no more eyeball for gundam) . And just the overall fantastic cast, would be a perfect roster if they include G Gundam and L-Gaim.
Impact: The first game on ps2 barely brought anything new to the series graphical wise but the way story progress in this game is like no others. Game is filled with secrets and splitting the game into 3 parts was a very unique experience. And imo the hardest core gameplay in the series if you're aiming for SR points. Many of them were nearly impossible for first playthrough.
A: The fact that they remade the game tells you that much. And hands down the best protagonists and main robots ever.
OG2: Great animation, great difficulty, great story. Basically all the things that made SRW Z widely regarded as the best SRW but featuring only the og casts.
Alpha 2: After the original Alpha, Alpha 2 was the second revolutionary entry in the series. Animation and replayability are up there with the best. Unfortunately its never stroke me as hard as the first Alpha for some reasons.
SRW F Final: For me, still the entry with best roster. Last time I played and finished the series was back in early 2000 and i don't think I would ever go back to play and pre-alpha SRW games simply because of the unskippable battle animation. But other than that, F Final is just a master piece for its time. Oh, they also managed to make Haman terrifying.
Very nice list! I really wanna finish impact either this year or next. I'm liking it more than I thought I would.
I am also someone who stumbled across this series because of fire emblem so i haven't played all of them. So from what i've played alpha gaiden has been the best. Rock hard though. Next would be J even though it was a bit on the easy side it had gorgeous animations and introduced me to many shows i love. BX has been the best implementation of Nadesico i had the pleasure of experiencing and i am a fan of the cockpit shots and dynamic kills it has. And it has the best combo attacks. A portable is good but i found myself lacking in deployment slots all the time. Haven't beaten D or z2 yet but what i've played of them i really like and they both feature getter robo Armageddon at its best which i can only hope T does it justice.
Z1 and Z2 are my favorites. You could tell the most recent games have taken a hit from an aesthetic stand point
I'm a sucker for the Z series. It was my first anime entry to the series and Hibiki is one of my favorite characters because of that haha. My favourites go as follows (for now)

3. OG Gaiden
4. loved the anime cast of X but overall liked the protagonists of V more so X/V I guess? Haha.
5 Z1. Now I know what you're thinking, "man you love the Z series" I haven't gotten to Alpha yet, but I'm sure I'll enjoy them too! So for right now that's my list.
I’ve been playing SRW V and I’ve pretty much been loving it so far, so I’ve been looking at other SRW games. Also thinking of using these games to help with reading Japanese since I’ve been wanting to finally learn Japanese recently and was thinking of grabbing some games with Japanese subs when I can eventually read some Japanese.
These are the perfect games to help you with your Japanese. It's what I did.
I am not really into _Super Robot_ and even less so with the games based on those series.
Though the I do enjoy some of the shows...

- 機動武闘伝Gガンダム (Mobile Fighter G Gundam)
- 超重神グラヴィオン (Gravion)
- 超重神グラヴィオンZwei (Gravion Zwei)
Other than that, I haven't really seen any _Super Robot_ series in its entirety.
I know that Mobile Fighter G Gundam is a _Gundam_ show, but the show itself has a lot of similarities to a _Super Robot_ show.

Never got around to playing much of the classic games, although I heard 4 was really good.
yeah 4 got me in over 20 years ago... great game but hard to recommend any srw that cale before alpha by now, not just the graphics but the gameplay was quite rigid...
great list. my favorites are Z, OG1&2, srw4, impact and srwJ.
all great choices. I still have yet to beat impact myself.
@@BaoZakeruga impact is sometimes hard when you want to get the skill points mostly because of bosses with shields and nasty AOE but overall its one of the best SRWs in my opinion. maybe because my favorite original is Alteisen :).
For me it boils down to Mecha animes used, If i dont like the line up of animes included i tend not to enjoy the game. For instance i loved V cause it followed Spacebattleship Yamatos story mostly and included some of my favorite animes like Evangelion, Full metal Panic and various Gundams. Where as X had very little that held interest in me other than buddy Complex. Sure it had gundams in there but they were ones that are regulars in the SRW series so nothing felt new and interesting to me. They tend to reuse the classic gundams over and over, i would have liked to see some new ones or even some of the less used ones. For me SRW 30 is looking good as it has a few things i like in it like Majestic prince.
The 4th super robot wars on super famicon is easily my favorite game in this series, then is the original alpha, then maybe the second srw g for gameboy.

Not a SRW fan but, good game. Anime series I want in SRW is Saber Marionette J to X, Transformers Car Robots, Pilot Candidate, Tetsujin 20-go FX, Samurai 7, and Lagoon Engine Einsatz.

SRW Alpha Gaiden in the First SRW i play and got me hook... and the best for me and the Valkyrie are beast of mecha

It really is a shame that the z series never got a full translation or english realise
Z1&Z2-2.2 are really two(or 3) of the best entries in the franchise. And even with a weaker console in 2, it has better animations than the first. I don't like Z3 that much since the new MC doesn't compare to the first MCs and the fact that the supposed good ending was non-canon in Z2.2

How do the z games work? As in what is the order and for what systems? English translations?

Each one has an-depth story/menu guide easily findable on google despite the fact there's no actual english patch, so there's nothing stopping you from jumping in and understanding everything. Though The Z2 games do have menu patches.

Almost every SRW game has a story translation online, along with translations for menus and anything else you'd need. There's also various games with english patches like Alpha Gaiden on the PS1 and J on the gba.
BaoZakeruga I’m very ignorant on these things. I’m guessing you download the patches to a computer and transfer to console? Plus aren’t there region issues for gba and ps1
@@joelgarcia3907 If you want to play these on the consoles they were meant for then that's a lot more complicated. Emulation is the easiest way to go. Although you can buy a physcial patched version of SRW J on the gba off etsy.

how good is Z2. Played it a bit on the PSP and had amazing animations. What makes W better than the other DS games? Story aint even translated.
almost every srw has a story guide on gamefaqs so you can play most of them and still get the story. And Z2 is really good. But yes, W has one of the best stories and group of characters the series has seen.

Haha no. THe closest I've gotten is working on a translation of one game.
Super Robot Wars Z was the best in the Z series. They ruined if with Z2 and Z3 I'm not quite sure why did they removed the Tri-System.
I agree the Z games got worse as they went on and the removal of the squad system was a big part of that.

No love for UX
Almost included UX in the honorable mentions, but the way terrible secrets system held it back for me.
I like how it handled the secrets, lore and story wise problem was the gameplay wise.
Best games are the og ones. Mashing mecha animes together is kinda cringe.
