The 'duel' between Luffy and Sanji really highlights that Luffy has actually grown and learned from his past mistakes. With Usopp, he ended up making things worse by arguing with him, ultimately pushing Usopp away by accidentally making him feel like he wasn't needed, and could be replaced like the Going Merry. Instead of letting Usopp get his feelings out, he fought him. With Sanji, Luffy now knows that isn't the solution. So, he simply takes Sanji's attacks. And moreover, he screams out how much he NEEDS Sanji, that he is completely irreplaceable and that he needs him on the crew to become Pirate King. Absolute reassurance of his faith in Sanji.
nope.. yes luffy has grown but the fight with usopp and sanji are 2 totally different situations.. luffy is quite perceptive.. even though sanji didn't say anything luffy can feel something is wrong here and sanji is doing something he doesn't want to do.. like he himself said 'i know you are saying words you didn't mean' but usopp's reasons were different... he did what he wanted to do.. he fought for his pride and merry.. there wasn't anything deeper than that..
@@amichakraborty2770I agree that the two fights were different but it doesn't change the fact that Luffy has grown and knows better now. But it's true, Sanji's wanted to protect his nakama and he decided to sacrifice himself (a bit like Robin) while Usopp was being defiant. Sure, he did it because of his own insecurities but that doesn't change the fact that he was disrespectful to his captain.
Please pay more attention. Usopp and Luffy is completely different than Sanji and Luffy. While Usopp being hurt, he projected his insecurities on his crewmates and insulted them, pretended like they're thinking things about him which none of them ever did. Usopp while being in a depressed hole meant everything he said, albeit he regretted it in the end and saw his fault. He put his own desires over that of the crew. Sanjis however didn't mean ANYTHING he said and done, he was forced to do so to keep Luffy and the crew safe, it is entirely self sacrificial.
@amichakraborty2770 @@jayjoe3716 You both missed the point of what I'm saying. No matter how you look at it, Luffy handled the situation with Usopp poorly. He made the decision to retire Marry without getting his opinion first. He tried to act like it was no problem, putting on a brave face even though it hurt him too, which without knowing how he reacted initially, made him look like he didn't care about Marry when he told Usopp. Usopp was angry and confused, not being able process it all. The moment he lashed out, Luffy lashed back, leading him to nearly saying Usopp should leave, prompted Sanji to stop him. Luffy didn't really stop to consider Usopp's feelings in the moment because it got so heated, making things worse. I of course recognize that the situations between Usopp and Sanji are different. Maybe I should've made that clear in my initial comment. But the point of my comment is to highlight how Luffy is treating things differently. He does absolutely nothing that would make the situation worse with Sanji. He may not know why he's doing this, but he is now actively choosing to do everything in his power at that moment to let Sanji know that he is wanted, NEEDED in the crew. He is going out of his way to make sure Sanji has none of the doubts Usopp did, even if Sanji isn't doing all this for the reasons Usopp did. So yes, I am paying attention, thank you.
I do get this argument, but Usopp's fight was pretty much inevitable. Luffy tried telling him they NEEDED to replace the ship, and Usopp just wouldn't accept it. More so, before Luffy got mad he took Usopp pushing him around and insulting him by saying "now you're acting like a Captain?". So one of 2 things would of happened anyway, either the fight, or Luffy would of given Usopp the ship and still went. Yes Usopp was emotional, but at the end of the day he wouldn't listen to reason. The legendary shipwrights, Luffy and the crew said they needed a new ship, and Usopp still wasn't getting it. I don't see how they could have gotten through to him.
So true! And the Island closest to a dreamland (in my opinion) is Water 7. Which is odd considering how out of all non Government Islands, Water 7 actually looks like a Government Island.
Throughout the series Nami called Sanji kun but the very first time she felt betrayed by him call him just Sanji before slapping him and saying goodbye. That also hits too along with Luffy and Sanji moments
Sanji leaving is more similar to Robin leaving than Usopp leaving because both Robin and Sanji willingly left the crew in order to save them as they felt like there was no other way but Luffy reassured both of them everything will be ok as long as they’re together whereas Usopp left because of his insecurities made him feel worthless and him believing that he is a replaceable member of the crew just like the Merry. Usopp and Sanji are very similar in that they believe the crew is better off without them. Zoro and Sanji are both willing to sacrifice themselves except Sanji believes his only worth for the crew is to give up his life since he grew up believing he is a failure and that he isn’t someone deserving of love so he believes the best thing someone like him could do is die for everyone else.
I don’t think Zoro would get mad bc he knows what type of person Sanji is. Even chopper said “Sanji is the type of guy who would separate himself from us to avoid burdening us” He would understand that he has circumstances that’s making him act like this. Zoro and others crew member probably pick up some clue and comes up with some atlernative approach dealing with scenario. Like when in Marineford, if the others straw hats were with Luffy, they might comes up with some other plan to tackle the issues.
Number 1 Zoro slanderer here, i think Zoro would act Just like he did during the Usopp situation, he respects his captain orders above all else, even if they are dumb, so he'd (begrudgingly) stay on the side, plus behind all that bickering those 2 understand eachother
true, zoro would just wait and watch how the situation escalate and how he will save sanji and escape. Zoro knows and respects Luffy to the full and he also understands Sanji. Soo Captain is screaming and doing his job why would Zoro interfere that? Zoro knows his place. If this situation was Zoro with Nami he would have taken the lead.
I think the Krieg flashback is to point at the disparity between how Sanji sees himself and how Luffy sees him. Sanji has been there for most of the crew's low points. He KNOWS Luffy would fight for him but he took the decision to surrender himself in order to give them an out of Big Mom. While Luffy has faith in his crew, Sanji has always acted kind of... self destructive. Putting himself in danger in the place of the other straw hats. When he tried to offer his head instead of Zoro's it's clear that it's not all out of kindness. While they bicker and shit, they clearly have respect for each other. Enough for him to know that 'kindness' could be interpreted as an insult to Zoro. No, Sanji just doesn't value himself. This 'fight' is him trying to force Luffy to see that he's not worth fighting for. As someone who dealt with self steem issues, that's what made his "I can't become the pirate king without you" such a heavy blow.
Oh it gets worse. But also beautiful, in a lot of ways. This is a great arc, to be honest. A few specific episodes are gonna kick your ass, queen, believe that. Luffy saying he can't become the Pirate King though.. that was powerful shit. And telling Sanji no matter how many times Sanji kicks him, it's Sanji who gets hurt. Goddamn 😭😭😭
Looking back at Water 7 and other arcs, you can now see why Sanji was low-key protective of Usopp. Since he understands what it's like being the weakest.
I also wonder how Zoro would have handled seeing that beating. After his words regarding Usopp it would take more than just “I’m sorry” for Zoro to accept the situation
Obviously he won’t say it to anyone else because they’d rather dle than act the way sanji was 😂stupld comment trying to act like sanji holds anymore importance on the crew then any other straw hat
Yea I genuinely think Sanji respects luffy in every way as a man as a pirate even as a cook/chef even tho lets be honest unless its huge meat cooking over a open fire I think thats about as complex as a dish luffy learned to cook living with wild animals on garps island.
The moment where Luffy said he cannot become King of the Pirates without him is such a key declaration. Luffy knows very well that his most important thing is his Nakamas, he totally understands that his crew is highly important to him and without them he wouldn't have managed to get where he is now. Such a heartbreaking and powerful scene.
yes I agree. He would have just watch luffy and waited how thing goes. Zoro knows Luffy and respects luffy's actions. He would just watch aside and think how situation would escalate and hoew to save sanji
Honestly i think Zoro knows Sanji enough to understand something would be off if he was here. Luffy also stopped Nami from intervening in their duel He learned with Usopp that escalating the situation won't help And I'm sure Zoro would agree even if it'd be hard to watch

I even cried again due to Luffy's speach to Sanji 😢
The tears will continue to flow until morale improves.
We all remember this
9:40 always kills a piece of my soul 💔
Nah the little children were here last batch that was 8 years ago at 60
Oh it gets worse.
She wasn't ready and neither was I when I first saw this
"without you, I cannot become king of the pirates"
Oh yeah, Onion cutting ninjas are back 🥲
Luffy 15:59 did eat ALL those biscuits! so he full of energy....4 now
I also wonder how Zoro would have handled seeing that beating. After his words regarding Usopp it would take more than just “I’m sorry” for Zoro to accept the situation
Fun fact this made luffy's va cry
without you i can't become the king of pirates
Oh goddd here we go 😢
to sum up this arc is holding out for a hero by Bookie Tyler, Sanji is calling pudding his salvation but luffy fighting a whole army outside 😭😭PAIN
ahhh this gonna be a tuff one...
racoon time incoming
lemme get them tissues rdy 😭😭😭
i told you
Finallyy we here
God i love sanji
Ik this day would come 😢😢
The question now is: which fight was heavier, Luffy vs Usopp or Luffy vs Sanji?
Luffy vs Sanji. Sanji did this to save his friends and the father that raised him. Usopp did have a choice and he was only hurting the crew
I dont wanna see not one stupid "iF zOro wEre tHerE" comment
oh boi... these episodes 🤧
“Without you, I can’t become King of the Pirates!” 😭😭 Luffy has NEVER said that to ANYONE.
Except. Sanji.
im pretty sure he said the same thing in arlong park about all his crewmates
Obviously he won’t say it to anyone else because they’d rather dle than act the way sanji was 😂stupld comment trying to act like sanji holds anymore importance on the crew then any other straw hat
@@kantbesober toxic fan like you can't understand this scene.
@@kantbesober You dumb bro. At this point of the story, BM could wipe the SHP's existence easily. Thank God they're the main characters..
@@kantbesoberPlease stop watching One Piece, you will be doing the community a huge favor 🙏🙏🙏
Zoro would do it the same way he did with Usopp. Respect the duel im sure hed have words after
I told ya.
Yea I genuinely think Sanji respects luffy in every way as a man as a pirate even as a cook/chef even tho lets be honest unless its huge meat cooking over a open fire I think thats about as complex as a dish luffy learned to cook living with wild animals on garps island.
8:23 We just gonna go save Luffy, no, S-S-Sanji
The moment where Luffy said he cannot become King of the Pirates without him is such a key declaration. Luffy knows very well that his most important thing is his Nakamas, he totally understands that his crew is highly important to him and without them he wouldn't have managed to get where he is now. Such a heartbreaking and powerful scene.
Luffy's logic is tragically simple during his duel with Sanji. He did not spend 2 years learning Haki so he could use it to fight his friends
I fully believe that Zoro would have just watched, But if ORDERED I think Zoro would cut down anyone even a member of the crew
yes I agree. He would have just watch luffy and waited how thing goes. Zoro knows Luffy and respects luffy's actions.
He would just watch aside and think how situation would escalate and hoew to save sanji
Honestly i think Zoro knows Sanji enough to understand something would be off if he was here.
Luffy also stopped Nami from intervening in their duel
He learned with Usopp that escalating the situation won't help
And I'm sure Zoro would agree even if it'd be hard to watch

Zoro didnt fight Bellamy when he beat Luffy and Zoro up. I feel like under Luffy's instruction, if Zoro was there he could stand by just like that.
