In the hands of the right talent, the UMC404HD can be used to produced muti-platinum, top charted commercial vocals and music and nobody would ever have to know! 😉😉

Very interesting. Let’s face it, no pickup will ever beat a miked sound. Your Taylor ( and my 12 string)has a conventionally braced top versus the new V and C class bracing they now use. I think they sacrificed some bass and depth for intonation and sustain, but they still record well. As Bob Taylor says all the time: if you want a Martin sound , buy a Martin. Having been to their CA factory, I can say their quality control is superb and precise. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks for the video. I agree with what you said about the UMC404HD. I have been using this interface for only a short period and to me it has performed reliably. I had to send the TASCAM US-4x4HR back as it had some problems, however I enjoyed the sound of it. My question, is it possible to send a different mix to the Headphone Out then the Playback Outputs or Main Out!

Good question! I don’t think there’s a way to create a stereo sub mix. There might be a workaround in your daw using the separate playback outs. But it would depend ok your context.

Nice one! Hopefully it’ll do the job for you… it’s definitely useful when you need the extra inputs.

I wasn't really sure what the UMC404HD is but I was watching this video because I have bad gear acquisition syndrome (bad gas) and trying to figure out if I should by one

Yeah man! The I/O and audio quality is great for the price. It should serve you well for a long time.

Please explain why we - as you said at the end - shouldn't "expect an outstanding listening experience"?

Hello! Thanks for a great question. The behringer has good quality sound, as do most low end interfaces these days. However the analog to digital converters are generic. The converters are the bridge between the analog and digital signals and play an important role. The quality of their design has the most significant impact on the sound quality of an audio interface. That’s why you can pay thousands for an interface. Higher quality converters will produce clearer, more transparent sound with more detail and more natural, lifelike audio. At the price of the 404 you can’t expect an outstanding listening experience.
