    I don't understand all the internet warriors commenting on this video. He understood that he had the skills to take the shot so he did. He also dropped it instantly which is impressive for how quickly he spotted it. This was a great shot man.

    • @Lenny3669
      @Lenny3669 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      your skill is not the only factor.
      deer bounce when they're running. it is NOT POSSIBLE to determine when that torso is going to be 16 inches up or down. that's up to the deer and how he decides to run at that moment.
      if this were my video and my grandpa saw it he would slap me upside the head. i'm assuming this guy wasn't brought up to hunt ethically. pew pew maybe i'll get him. idiots.

    • @Lenny3669
      @Lenny3669 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plus... i've left out the main point - the fact that the buck dropped instantly means HE MISSED THE VITALS. The ONLY way a deer drops instantly like that is if you hit the spine, either top of the back or in the neck or head.
      I've shot several deer straight through the heart and they always run at least 30 yards. This guy MISSED the vitals and got lucky by hitting a nerve.

      too stupid to argue with.

    • @Lenny3669
      @Lenny3669 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Tracy you're bullshit. thats impossible. a deer hit in the heart won't drop instantly. it doesn't even make any sense - there is plenty of blood in the body for it to continue running. only if you shot through a shoulder or down from a high stand through the spine. not directly broadside like this.

    That was a cool video and a nice buck. Open sites makes it even sweeter. You will have to excuse the ignorance of people who think that the shot was unethical because it probably would be if they were the shooter given their skill level. Thank you for sharing and I can't wait to do some of this myself, first season in Iowa this year. Gets my blood pumping.

    If it quacks like a duck it must be a duck? You decide, here's the details of the video: It was December 2013 when Justin was rewarded with this video capture of a whitetail hunt and successful harvest as he still hunts a corn field in Ontario. The deer presented itself right peripherally and was moving swiftly towards him in diagonal manner from right to left across his field of vision. He immediately identified his target as moving and legal to destroy. Remaining calm he keenly estimated the distance and lead required for accurate shot placement using the selected ammo and weapon for that days hunt. His knowledge and experience confirmed his skillset and weapon of choice were within parameters to allow a high probability of success. Justin deliberately drew the 12 guage to his shoulder as if it were mechanically driven and eased the safety switch from SAFE to FIRE. Now looking down the open sights of his Remington Model 870 he adjusts until satisfied he has allowed proper leeway and sight alignment before gently squeezing the trig.ger.. . BOOM❗ . . . Sends a single 2.75" Sabot round down the 20" smooth barrel of the model 870 confirming a 40 yard knockdown of a whitetail buck in full stride.

    OMG! That's animal murder! :) Just kidding. Awesome shot. To hit the deer standing still would have been a damn good shot but in full run. Remind me not to attempt to burglarize this man's home.

      @@DD-su2qq It's been a while since I did any serious competition, but when I stepped away I carried a Highmaster classification in NRA High-power shooting across the course with a service rifle. Last match I shot in was a local bowling pin match, which I won comfortably with my edc 45 Shield. I'm currently working up some hand loads for a new Savage 12 in .223. Best group on Saturday was approx 3/8" center to center at 400 yds. I can send you a picture if you like. As far as deer go, I generally take between 3 and 5 annually. Archery shots are generally under 40 yds. Gun season, I have no problems going beyond 300 depending on the circumstances. 150 and under are generally gimme shots so long as it's reasonably stationary.

      He went back to his post spot and waited for the drive to be over. First approach is to make sure it's not going to get back up and go another few hundred yards. Deer are tough. I hit an 8 point and knocked it down. I kicked it in the ass twice and it t didn't move. I leaned my 870 against a tree and went back over to it. It got up and had enough left that I almost needed stitches. Antler went through my glove and missed my hand. I wrestled it back to the ground and yelled for my brother while I tried to open my knife. Now I carry a Kershaw speedsafe that can be operated with one hand.

    Nice shot. I wouldn't have taken it but to each his own. He'll eat well.

      Why wouldn't you have taken it? It was 46 yards away in a open field, you don't get much better shooting then that.

      Justin Walsh Nothing against the shot or the shooter. I just don't feel comfortable taking a moving shot like that. I'd worry that I'd injure it and never find it. If it were standing still I would have taken it in a second. It's just about my level of skill with moving shots.

      Kenny Cannon Understandable, thanks for the clarification I waterfowl hunt alot have gotten really good at judging a animals or birds speed and how much to lead the shot by.

      +Kenny Cannon you won't get better at moving shots until you try them. If you are worried about losing the deer, bow hunters are able to track blood trails with very good success rates all the time. Blood trails are generally larger from a slug (rather than an arrow) also.
