Yes that part broke my heart, I hoped those comments didn't reach him. He has achieved more than so many world champions. Gold medals (twice for country and individual for board 1), one of the highest ratings of all time 2817, second longest unbeaten streak at 100 games, #2 in classical for a long time, #1 in rapid and blitz, big top tournament wins. There was a time he was outplaying Magnus quite consistently. Also won 5 classical games in 2 world championships, which is so hard when players are so well prepared and most matches are basically all draws. For comparison, Caruana won 0, Karakin won 1, Nepo 0 in his first match etc. Ding has accomplished way too much and he is a worthy world champion.

That he said "no games tomorrow" showed his mindset. He plays some amazing chess and blessed us with the most beautiful mate in World Championship history!

I think Ding has to physically get back to form to realize his peak. He seems to be complaining about energy and how that impacted his calculation, intuition, and confidence. Some part of that has to be due to his actual physical shape declining.
Man this truly hits, it's not that he lost but the way he lost is extremely heartbreaking a blunder in a completely tied game costed him the world champion title and it was the last game not anyone can comeback from that and this is a prime example of how brutal chess is
Thank you ding for the great moments. You fought hard and converted loosing positions to draws. We, as chess amateurs had enjoyed your presence. You’re a legend. You showed us that you can defend against any GM. That’s what a true champion is.
Ding will be forever my champion, I loved him since before he gained the title, and I'm happy for him because the crown was too heavy to carry in deed, people are too hungry for blood and cocky personalities, it doesn't suit him, he is the guy that walks by the river listening to Bob Dylan and reads philosophy, poetry and history books for fun. Let him be, he is great in his own way, he is humble, kind, respectful, responsible, a very cool and role model human being. I am looking forward to see him happy doing whatever he wants to do. The chess world will miss somebody this humble and respectful in the spotlight, but the ones of us that knew him will always remember what chess looked like when he dared to play on his own, with few preparation, with openings that GM's usually calls amateur ones. Thank you Ding ❤
Love you Ding! Looking forward to seeing you in tournaments away. Hope the loss also took away the unnecessary pressure. You are an amazing fighter. Keep playing chess ❤🎉 will be following your games in the future too
Just love this good human Ding..... So cool... He might of lost the WC title but He is truly a world champion in the minds of people.... Best wishes for all his future endeavors..
Looking at the prize money, it is evident that the crown takes away a piece of you. Magnus internalized it and didn't defend the title. Ding didn't blundered, he traded; traded the rook for the peace of life. 😇
Ding struggled so much, yet still delivered a performance that nearly won him the whole thing. There's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of-in fact, its quite the opposite, in my opinion. He should be proud. I also think losing the title might actually be a good thing for Ding. Life isn’t just about achievements or performances; it’s also about you, your well-being, and your happiness. And with all that pressure weighing on your shoulders, finding happiness isn’t always easy. I mean, we all saw what Ding was going through this last year.
What an amazing guy. I loved watching him play so much this World Cup and will be following him closely from more on. The kindest, chillest world champion for sure, we should all aspire to be a little more like him.
With the burden of the world champion gone , hope to see Ding return to his 2019 form , the Ding who won the sinquefeld cup by beating Magnus Carlsen , who in a rapid game against Carlsen made 7 consecutive king moves to win creating the "immortal Ding walk" and the Ding who once refuted Fabiano's home preparation over the board . Even now Ding's head to head against Carlsen in classical is -2.
There are 18 people in human history who can call themselves undisputed world chess champion. He's one of them. Anyone else who has been mocking him recently not only hasn't come close to achieving what he has achieved, but also very clearly has no idea how it feels when you are constantly waging a war against your own consciousness and everything else feels like a side quest to that. I have nothing but admiration for this man, a true fighter, the 17th world champion.❤
"It’s heartbreaking to say, but Ding was never truly appreciated as a world champion. He was constantly compared to Magnus, and people kept questioning his worth, even though he earned the title through the same eligibility criteria that’s been followed for years. He was the nicest world champion with no haters
Yes. Very nice guy.
7:09 looks good to see him smile like that😊
Two years ago, he said that being the world champion was not that great, he wanted to be the Best player in the world. He is insanely humble. 😮
People respect Magnus as a world champion and chess player. People love Ding for being a human being, regardless of his chess and personal challenges.
I was rooting for Gukesh obviously, but Ding won heart of many many Indians like me..
That was the problem. Expectations. Lets hope he is happy and enjoys. The past can not happen the same way it was.
Ding seems like such a humble and likable dude, much love and good luck
"It’s heartbreaking to say, but Ding was never truly appreciated as a world champion. He was constantly compared to Magnus, and people kept questioning his worth, even though he earned the title through the same eligibility criteria that’s been followed for years. As an Indian, I feel proud and overjoyed that the trophy is back home, but watching Ding walk away from the table and pass the world champion title to Gukesh with such grace and a smile broke me. It shows the incredible character he has. Honestly, this had me in tears."
We all love you Ding! You're a very inspiring world chess champion and even a better person!
I´m a Ding Liren fan for some years, it is heartbreaking to see him blunder this tournament ... Gukesh is a great player and i congratulate him for his victory! I like both players, but i would be better for me, if some of this guys wins his final match, not loose his final match! Hope you understand what i mean!
Ding is a pure soul. He is like a baby panda but also a true World Champion. It's impossible to not love him. It's quite possible that he has more fans in India now than elsewhere, including yours truly from Mumbai.
Ding is a warrior both on and off the chessboard
just in love with his innocent character.
It is really disappointing to see people comment on Ding's chess. He is a great World Champion. And it is only fair to say anything about his title when you have actually won one. Real champion supports real champion.
Love u ding....from India.
Ding WC ❤ 🎉 from 🇮🇳
I don't care what the haters say for me, HE IS ONE OF THE TRUE WORLD CHAMPION ! I'm an Indian so inherently I wanted Gukesh to win but never could I dislike DING at all and rooted for him, had it been anyone else like cocky Hikaru I would have been trash talking, but god dam Ding is one of the most if the most genuine honest loveable and cute guy
How nice to see Ding happy and smiling after what happened🖤
Ding is a gem.
Good Ding looks relieved here. First time I have seen him like this in a long time.
DING YOUR A LEGEND
He is so sweet and humble ❤
Love this guy. He is just a gem of a human being!
How chill this guy is.❤
