Preventing wax moth damage is simple and free. You do not need any equipment or chemicals. Harness the power of the sun; or some other form of light. / brownsbeefandbees
I have a bug zapper that's on 24/7 in the garage and have stopped the wax moths (to date anyway). I used to tape all the hives but that was too much work. I think the light from the bug zapper is more attractive than the boxes themselves.
Hi, are yours stored in a closed barn or is a 3 sided structure that has sunlight in the afternoons sufficient. I have lost so much comb to wax moths and the failure of the crystals so I am very motivated to fix this!
Are you talking about natural light and/or artificial light? I thought about using a shop light, but I know when I turn my light on in the garage, it actually attracts wax moths.
This just gave me an idea I think I should get clear flex glass for hive covers

I cross my boxes like you do, but I’ve still had a little bit of moth damage, so looking forward to your next video!
yes wax moth loves dark area, also drawn comb loves clean area
I wonder if LED rope lights can be used to increase the amount of light in the boxes?
Thanks for the tip! WIll do!

Thanks much I'll keep this in mind.
I love your intro, what editing software do you use?
What about the brood boxes? Won't they generate more moths?!
Do you have to have natural light or can you hang a light over the frames
Do you keep the comb in there for extended period of times? Does it not rot?
Tom Cat Box or…a Tom Cat?
Nice?
Wax moths come out at night your equipment would get annihilated in Missouri
Wax moths come out at night everywhere. Thanks for watching.
