Outside of being an amazing artist, walking through the process in such detail gives me a deeper appreciation for what tiki mug artists do from concept to production. Honestly if you were to release a mug that look like a ball of clay with a hole on the top, I'd probably buy it. Lol. (love the finished haircut at the end of the video as well!)

Thank you! The booth I use is a Laguna Clay spray booth (it is great), I have a big California Air Tools compressor, and I use a HVLP spray gun from C.A. Technologies. Not gonna lie, the gun I use is fancy and expensive. I use it a ton, and love it to death, but I know it is $$. I have ceramic friends who get great results from guns they get at Harbor Freight. I used a Harbor freight gun for years, but was happy to upgrade to my current setup.

What temperatures you use for the castings and glazes on your kiln. I like your ORIGIN, can you give more informations about the machine, is it a laser cut?

It’s a pressure feed gun made specifically for glaze. Can’t recall the manufacturer off the top of my head. It was quite expensive, but worth every penny!
Good question! I selected the interior glaze as it seems to absorb any overspray with no problems - saved me the step of masking off/blocking the mouth
Good question! The pieces I make are a continuation of the tradition of sculpted elaborate slipcast vessels for tropical cocktails. These vessels traditionally have been labeled “tiki mugs”, even though they may not resemble a standard pottery mug shape 😄.
Because you drink from them! 😄 - they are made for tropical cocktails (but you can put any beverage in them). Google “tiki mugs” to see the inspiration

I’m afraid the standard edition bastard mugs are all sold. Later this year I’ll be doing 25 super limited versions, so there is still hope! 😄

Good question!! We usually do 4 or 5 mugs a year - that’s about all the two of us (and our small studio) can handle 😄
