It's not just that it was a bad album, it's also the subject matter he was rapping about on that album. I liken this to when Robin Thicke made that terrible "Paula" album for his ex-wife, and his career went away immediately after that. Lesson: Don't make an entire album specifically about one woman, it's super cringe to the fans and nobody wants to hear that stuff. I also get the feeling that Chance started falling off musically when he started ramping down his drug usage. Acid Rap is still by far his best album to date, and people have been waiting for that version of Chance to return when he's actually gone forever. The Big Day let all of us know that guy no longer exists, and that's fine because he seems to be in a good place mentally and health-wise. He'll have a hard time gaining his old fans back though. We are happy that he is clean and satisfied with his life, but we became fans because of how unique his sound was when he was on drugs. It sucks but it is what it is.
Do you guys think Chance can bounce back from The Big Day? 🤔
