Their first album came out in 2001, so they are not all that new. Just now gaining the notoriety they deserve though. Great band. This newest album is a little different than their others, so be sure to check out some older stuff as well. Every song you hear will be your new favorite song by them. They are all great.
Ya I embarrassingly caught that mistake right after I recorded this D: I guess it just goes to show that these guys should have gained their notoriety much earlier. Can't wait to check out more of their music...honestly so excited.
Hi Ross, thanks for chosing Gojira, the travel agency to extreme territories. We hope you enjoyed this little snack, and now, please buckle your seat belt, the journey is about to begin. It will take you through the lands of Killer Riffs, above the peaks of Crazy Polyrythms, and down the Depths of Raw Energy. May the roaring voice of Joe Duplantier, the thundering drums of his brother Mario, the intricate guitar work of Joe and Christian Andreu, and the commanding bass of Jean-Michel Labadie guide you along the trip. And one last thing: there is no exit and no safety manual. Be well and brace yourself.
I'm a bit jealous. Kind of wish I could hear all of their stuff for the first time again. Even their demo/EP stuff before the name change (90's they were called Godzilla) is great.
Fucking love this band, and it’s one of very few bands I never skip on my playlist. The subtle things they do I think is what puts them on another level than most metal bands these day. A couple examples in this song is that opening riff and the drum fill near the end of the song after the clean verse to give a unique sound
Welcome to the club Rossta! For the story Joe and Mario's mother died of cancer while they were working on their latest Album "Magma". And I guess this song and this video are haunted by this sadness. I grew up like 2km from the Duplantier's family home and they all have very strong bonds. Their dad is a well-known photograph here - in fact I met him before having even heard of Gojira YEARS ago!-, their uncle works on their videos and their sister is behind their album covers and art as long as I know. Anyway thank you man, always a blast!
Feeling so envious right now, would love to discover that band for the first time again ;) You got a lot to catch up, will definitely be worth your while !
Goose bumps! You want goose bumps? Try Low lands: th-cam.com/video/7j03lu6SBR8/w-d-xo.html More? Take a shot of The Gift of Guilt (live at Brixton Academy): th-cam.com/video/vrfr9t6FuTU/w-d-xo.html
React to gojira more! Wont be disappointed. Recommend the cell, flying whales (Live brixton) , gift of guilt (Live brixton) , space time (The link live), art of dying (Live at brixton) . The new album is preety weaks but still great album. Every band dream to be good as gojira in consistency produce quality album
Hows about Gojira Stranded coupled with cinematic trailers for Doom 4 & Killing Floor 2, eh? Nothing like hearing Joe begin to wail to a bloody bug-eyed Revenant strutting through the giblets. It just seems ideally suited to unscheduled surprise evisceration. Just pop the magic number into the search box and smack it -----------> PLN9wU6IXtc
Thank you so much JLT! Means a lot to me. I will be doing Into Battle in my next wave of uploads! :) Is that a song recorded when Jari was still part of the band?
