  • In this video, we look at some of the latest skiing outerwear from ISPO Munich. There was a heavy emphasis on sustainability with a few companies trying to reduce their environmental impact. The new GORE-TEX Pro was seen being used in a range of new jackets and well as some interesting new materials from other brands, such as Picture Organic Clothing's XPORE membrane. We also look at Spyder and Adidas's new ranges, both seeking to branch out into the freeskiing market, and the world first jacket in which every single component is recycled.

    to me, as someone living in australia, its incredible how environmentally conscious many european brands are. Everyone is so environmentally focused and its so positive to see. Unfortunately in this aspect, im not proud to be australian even though i myself do as much as i can to minimise my footprint, my government doesnt.

    7:55 - “four way stretch”. How does an essentially two dimensional fabric stretch in four dimensions? Length & width yes, depth maybe, time???

    • @DominicH77
      @DominicH77 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Im afraid time is most likely not the 4th dimension :D but you are right - 4 way sounds wrong :)

    • @AldiLover89
      @AldiLover89 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think with four way she didn't mean dimensions, but rather four ways meaning up down left and right...
      If she would have meant dimension, she would have said dimension;)

    • @Benzknees
      @Benzknees 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      deus exutopia - But if it stretches to the left/up, then you’d have a job not getting it to stretch to right/down! It’s a stretch to call two way four way. If not marketing BS.

    • @Benzknees
      @Benzknees 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      AG Coarseman - Good point. I wonder if it has a lunchtime capability too?

    • @woofdog87
      @woofdog87 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Four-way stretch is the standard term for materials that stretch in both dimensions. Fabrics that only stretch in one dimension are two-way stretch. You’re right that there isn’t a one-way stretch!

    Hello Jens, I was at Ispo, I got sick from looking at all these same Gore jacket from all the big brand. Zero differentiation, any rainbow color you wish. It clearly felt that Picture due to their huge success has lost it soul. What a no limit, gigantic show they did. I could find a bit of soul in the core snowboarding community and a few outsider brand (like Plank). I may have saw a shaggy haired skater in the distance...

      Chris Cowan i love my spyder jacket. I’ll like that it’s colorful and notable. I have teach skiing to my girlfriend and my friends so the ski instructor suits me. My girlfriend looks like an ice princess with her with furry jacket. But hey I guess that’s not full pro freestyle.

    It is so hard to find what i already have. But after years it is worn out now, so i need something similair. I need i light jacket with "some" weather protection and some insulation with enough pockets and zippers and a hood.
    The market is full of layer systems, that i do not like. Wether they are to cold or the insulation is UNDER the outside layer jacket and begins to smell after one day. On the other side there are only huge n' heavy -20 degrees coats where i sweat my as of under standard conditions.

    I’m looking for something baggy. Do you know some brands, where the jackets are longer than 85cm and the pants as wide as possible?

    These jackets are nice but they have no insulation at all. Basically you pay a fortune for just a shell and end up having to get warm mid layers.

    • @vadymnevesenko2207
      @vadymnevesenko2207 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. And that is awesome, 'cuz u can get comfy in any weather conditions with the same jacket by just adding/removing a polartec or a down sweater, which weighs about 200 gramms and when packed takes no more space than a big apple in your backpack.
      And the reason these jackets cost a fortune is the membrane that makes it waterproof and breathable, dwr coatings and the top layer fabrics, that r getting lighter, stretchy and robust each year. And years of research and design. Insulation costs next to nothing compared to these.

    People need to stop sh*tting on Spyder's designs. The Spyder brand has the utmost responsibility of fulfilling the needs of people with extreme poor taste, as well as, hiring delinquent designers and art directors. If they seize to exist, who is going to make these ugly clothes and make the other brands look good?
