    This is the last video that I recorded with the "stash" so you guys don't have to cringe in future videos.
    Also, I want to say a special thank you to Eileen and Lionel for sending these treats and for making this video possible.
    Make sure to comment below which you like better, British or French sweets?

      The selection box with the different biscuits in it are available in various supermarkets in the UK not just Waitrose so course the packaging will be a bit different depending where you buy them from, so it will have asda on the box if they're from asda or tesco if they're from tesco etc.

    Haha "Let me try the Grape" did I hear you say on the Jelly Tots. Ok so this is super common one that I hear a lot and have had to explain to many American friends of mine, but Purple in the UK is normally Blackcurrant. I believe that blackcurrants are or were illegal to farm in the states for the past century so you have likely never tasted this as a flavour or berry.
    I think the only grape flavour I know besides eating an actual grape, would be Fanta which has a grape flavoured soda. Also green sweets are normally Lime but can also be Apple and I know most green candy is associated with Apple stateside.

    • @richardcastro-parker3704
      @richardcastro-parker3704 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly they probably are not used to blackcurrant flavour.

    • @InevitableVitare
      @InevitableVitare 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's also worth noting that Blackcurrant is so beloved in the UK that several products sell "Blacks and Reds", with just Blackcurrant and Strawberry in them. The citrus flavours don't get anywhere near the attention. But Americans tend not to like it, for some reason.

    A good family video. Your son is adorable and so accepting of the foods he has tried in this and the other video. The purple in the Jelly Tots is blackcurrant, we don't tend to have grape flavoured things in the UK and the green is probably lime. The Mikado chocolate sticks are good to put on top of a dessert.

    Mikado is the European name for Pocky, the Japanese sweet that have been made by Gilco since the 1960s. Chocolate is the most common but there are dozens of flavours.

    I used to work in Rowntree's factory in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and at the time Jelly Tots were made there. The factory is going to close this year though the first thing I was told was that I wouldn't work there for long as "they're closing the factory soon", this was in 1969 and I worked there for 7 years.

    I don’t think it is anymore, but up until very recently it was illegal to grow blackcurrent in the US so you don’t really get it as a flavour there. The plants apparently encourage a fungus that is very harmful to some Native American trees. We don’t really get grape flavour in the UK but the few things I have tried have just tasted of sugar rather than any fruit flavour.

    When they have a box bigger than the product it's usually called shrinkage. When they want to put up the cost but people aren't likely to pay more they reduce the number in the box. E.g. box of 6 crisps or snacks becomes a 5 pack. With packs of 4 chocolate bars they make them gradually a little smaller for each bar.

During the six years I lived & worked in Northern VA, my two oldest children attended two schools in DC (one all girls, the other only boys). sneaky little French guy.
    cote d'or is Belgium Chocolate. (yes the name is French but half of Belgium also speaks French.
    I know we're neighbours and it's also a compliment.
    but you already stole french fries (Belgian), and now chocolate?
    we'll be expecting some quality champagne from you guys as compensation for this.

    Purple in the UK is not grape, it's probably blackcurrant...

      Dark purple is likely blackcurrant, but a lighter purple, maybe closer to mallow or mauve, is probably grape.

      @@scmtuk3662 We don't have grape in the UK, I cant think of anything other than grapes themselves that taste of grape... Its usually liquorice or blackcurrant...

      @@daveofyorkshire301 Grape-flavoured sweets are more common in the US, but some US brands are imported in the UK, and you can get "The Original GrapeHead Grape Candy" in the UK if you know where to look.

    Bizarrely, I am a Brit that lives in France ( they have 200 sorts of cheese and a bottle of wins for less than 2 Euros, so why wouldn't you,?) and as you know British chocolate is different to American chocolate but French chocolate is different again from British chocolate.

    Jelly Tots are a common thing, but the rest was just off brand budget stuff from the supermarket rather than an actual known product. Waitrose is the name of a supermarket, not a chocolate company.

      Places like Waitrose and M&S are big enough to have manufacturers go so far as dedicate new production lines to their products. Hardly off-brand or budget
