After learning this game, I freaking love it. You have to readjust the club based on lie, elevation, wind, the game doesn’t just tell you what shot to hit exactly and I have grown to really like that. The graphics are also great for the courses. Once my 10 hour trial is up I’m going to purchase it.
@@blooter6360 I like being able to just lay back on the couch and play it so I just got in on the Xbox. Definitely could push more frames on my PC but I’m okay with it for now. @@sploit777 yeah console more relaxing if I’m being honest for sure ! It’s tough challenge but I’m progressing I tried thst quick round but I’d rather control my golfers destiny and do all 18 holes full 4 rounds Great game
Overall, I’m very pleased. The course physics are spot on and you feel like you’re playing THAT course. I love playing the US Open where if you hit it in the rough there’s no way you’re getting to the green. The visuals are amazing along with the major presentations. I’d like for them to add in Jim Nance with Faldo for The Masters going forward and a more mainstream announcer as well, but nothing bad with what they’ve given us. The commentary is actually quite good. At first, I was very disappointed with the amount of options for equipment and clothing, but now that I’ve played for a while it seems that you earn more equipment along the way. This is a fantastic starter point and if they can fix the little things and add more courses and players I think we’re in for a real treat. My hope is that we can eventually get to over 50 real life courses with 10+ fantasy, but realistic courses. Also, add in a John Daly and some for the past favorites. Will make it more fun. Online doesn’t matter to me at all since I’ve never played online. I grew up in the offline era lol. However, I am intrigued by the online tournaments for coins… Need to give that a try. Overall, I’m loving the initial product and look forward to what they add in going forward. Ryder cup incoming! Competition breeds great products!!
Ironically the old Tiger Woods games that had the Masters had Jim Nantz. Compared to today, it's limited and basic. But back then it blew my mind to have the voice of golf there. Otherwise, I agree with you. They are adding this year's major courses as the year goes on, but hopefully it does well and it gets supported long-term.
I love the commentary in this game. I seriously suck at golf games but it’s nice to hear the feedback when you do something good. 2k23 has a waaay worse announcer. It kinda takes me out of the immersion a bit. This one makes me feel like I’m watching an actual golf game but obviously more fun. I think they need to start you off with as many amateur tours as humanly possibly especially if you suck. Like I don’t understand why they would push me hard into the Koran ferry tour if I failed the amateur tour so bad. It’s laughable to see me playing in the same event as the pros but hey whatever I’ll just keep playing and getting better.
There's not enough of a penalty for finding rough. You can be in heavy rough and still have 100% shot contact/power. Also needs to be more of a penalty for fast/slow swings.
This. The beautiful different thickness of rough in the game is basically for visuals only. Has almost zero effect on the golf shot. Give me a freaking break with 87-100 percent every single time. Super lame.
I've had plenty of 30%'a with the longer clubs which has forced me to lay up, even on a par 4. Agree that the easier courses still need some penalty, even if much smaller
Yeah there's only certain courses where rough will be punishing. I understand the trying to make it more punishing on courses where the rough is heavier but it shouldn't be 100% in a lot of the lies.
Piece of shit ea severs lost connection 16 holes into my challenge with Shaffele. Challenges need to speed the fuck up, we don’t need to see animations for 2 putt pars and shots that miss the green
Nice review.Been playing golf game for 40 years & im loving this game.People judging the game after a few hours of play is a joke, give it time & it’s a grower.A few decent updates & we could have the best golf game we’ve had in quite a few years.
I have been looking forward to getting this game since it was announced but am always skeptical on releases. Watching all your content earlier this week was super helpful. Love what you are doing and I am just pumped EA is back in the game. Competition helps all of us players out!
It's really insane to me that they didn't have a 3click swing at launch. Considering they put a lot into swing mechanics you'd think that you'd appeal to the older audience and at least implement something.
If you're on PC I'd hold out till three click is added. I'm playing on PS5 and the analog stick swing is pretty easy. No buttons to push you just pull straight down on the stick then push it straight up to swing forward. I guess on PC you can play with a controller also. I've been a longtime three clicker since the 80s on the nes when I was in my 20s. I tried The Golf Club in 2016 and hated that trying to use a mouse to swing.
I think they maybe need another tougher swing difficulty. I think around the green and the approach shots are tough but sometimes hitting the fairway off the tee feels too easy
@@SilverKen15 In this world. FIR leaders on the pga tour is in the 70 something percent range at best... Average fairways in regulation normally 60 something percent. You can't miss fairways in this game...
Honestly watching the masters this week and really looking at the swing I can see why they did the swing mechanics the way they did. I do think it needs to be tweaked to be a little more realistic but overall I really like it
I do wish the grid lines would disappear after you hit a putt It would just be nice to see the ball rolling towards the cup without the lines on it, and then reappear if you miss it
I've only watched your career mode and LIV v PGA videos on this game, but from a viewing standpoint, I'm liking how it looks/plays. Not sure when I'll pick it up myself but I'm enjoying all the content and your review on the game. Keep pumping out the EA PGA content Turloch!
Biggest thing i dont understand it that there needs to be so much more customization - should be heaps of custom swings to choose from - chips for runners, flops pitches, should all have different stances and ball positions imo, bunker shots should have open clubs open stances, even if theres only a few types this is a must imo
Just wish there was a way to turn off all the screen clutter (icons bottom left etc). Also hope they patch to be able to turn off the green grid lines after the shot
So wait, I can’t play online with my brother? If I’m looking to play both career and also online with my brother which one should I pick? I’ve been so undecided. lol.
As soon as EA adds local couch co-op multiplayer with created golfers I'm definitely buying, I really like the game but that's a deal breaker atm. C'mon EA let me buy your game lol.
Question, I only have the option to play the masters with Scheffler. I’ve played two rounds with him, but dont have a menu to access additional gamemodes. Just allows me to restart the round. Thoughts?
I love it so far. Definitely some solid graphics. One thing that is annoying is it's so hard to control long irons. I try to go with higher loft and it still runs out forever
@John Doe it's not normal to have a long iron run 50 yards though unless you're playing a stinger. I play my long irons short of the green and they still run past the green in the game
Great review. Overall I find the game very good after about 14 hours of play. The putting could use some tweaks. My biggest gripe is the input lag. I'm playing on PS5 and it feels like there is a 1/4 to 1/3 of a second delay on your swings. Also I have adjusted some sound settings and saved them properly, but they reset to default each time the game loads. Hopefully they will release some patches soon to fix some of the glitches.
A+ presentation. Graphics are amazing. Best audio commentary ever for a golf game. A- gameplay. Swing mechanics are challenging and rewarding. Immersive career mode. Countless offline modes for hundreds of hours of content. B for multiplayer. The one area 2K23 has it beat for now. No crossplay, and some server issues need patching. Best golf game since Links era, imo.
Amazing is abit of a stretch. Some of the golfers are horrendous in this game Scheffler looks like he is made of wax and been out in the sun too long and started to melt
I couldn't wait and got EA and think it has been fantastic. I love the graphics. I've mainly been playing with my young kids who love getting to play as Lexi Thompson and choosing outfits. And its been fairly easy for them to learn. For young kids who struggle with disappointment, I'd love to see stableford introduced. You make great videos fella, keep up the great work.
I’m loving the game…the more you play it, the more enjoyable it gets. I’m currently doing some of the sponsor challenges…adidas…18 holes at St Andrews without getting a single bogey, is proving extremely difficult!! Has anyone else done it yet? I’m 3 hours in and still can’t do it!! haha 🙈🙈🙈
Hey peeps! I'm a very casual gamer nowadays (I'm lucky to get an hour around midnight most nights), i have been holding off on upgrading to ps5 or series x because I just don't play as much anymore. I guess the question I'm trying to ask is.. Is EA worth the full console overhaul just now? I was thinking if this game was a must have.. Like head and shoulders above 2k23 I'd start looking to upgrade. From what I've seen though, I've been a little put off. I tend to play ranked 2v2 with my pal when i can.. Which just simply won't be an option (until we hear otherwise). I do remember really liking the tournaments in the old EA games and finding those addictive.. Think I'm just on the fence due to the lack of social aspect on the new game. Thanks for the review Apex and all the great content. ✌️
Great review and pretty much agree all round! I might have missed it, but how do you turn off the white swing line around the golfer… I don’t mean the meter with the marker that shows you how far to take the club back (I’ve already turned that off), but even with that off, when I go to swing the swing arc still shows?
Thanks for the engaging review. I’m looking forward to getting this. The last golf game I invested hours in was Tiger Woods 2004. I dabbled in the 2K21 game when it was part of PS Plus but wasn’t truly inspired. Great to see 2 golf games on the market, which is great for us.
Also, they need a fix for 1 rnd tournaments. 4 is too long. 2 is fine. I played two rnds at Augusta and missed the cut, but was completely exhausted after playing it. Mentally on the mind it’s a puzzle.
Im really struggling to stick the green with my apprroach shots. whenever i hit the green it rolls off, i dont know how to back spin i guess. but it made me turn off after a few hours
I'm havin trouble seeing greens while in chip mode near green. I can't get an overhead camera no matter what camera setting I use and it blocks out the flag and hole... Any suggestions?
How do two people play in the same room, same machine against each other when one uses left stick to swing and the other person uses the right stick to swing. Help please!!!
Am I mad in thinking this is poor? Yes the gameplay might be decent but what are the reactions after the shots all about? I’ve never seen a pro get that excited over hitting a fairway or hitting a green. They get on like they’ve scored a 90th minute winner in the champions league…
One thing extremely annoying to me that i dont hear much about is not being able to change number of rounds per event in my career. Only options are to play 4 full rounds (2 hours to do) or play on quick where you play a couple holes per round. The quick option is terrible because no one wants simulations. You arent controlling your own score. Its not acceptable to me that you cant change to 1 or 2 full rounds for events. Anyone know if this will be changed? In the trailer i swear it showed you can change this.
@@TheApexHound yeah they are. Haven't given a timeline but really hope it's in the next week or 2 as it's essential for the lifespan of a career mode.
I I have a problem with the career. I was not good enough in the first playthrough of US Open Amateur Championship to become one of the first 40 places. So, now I cannot longer join "The Masters" for example. Only Corn ferry tour is still available. Is there an option to play the Masters on a later time or so? Because I'm also not able to make a new playthrough on the US Open.
I think this very accurate review , online has tons of potential, I think playing those online daily/ weekly tournaments with your friends would be great addition
What didnt get much airtime was the daily tournaments, weekly and seasonal tournaments online. The daily's refresh every 12 hours !! They are the first thing I do every day when I turn on. Then there are all the extra + sponsors challenges. The game has depth and will take a long time to complete. The Career is also good. Im early stages of the KF Tournament.
I can't continue in my career. I got thru 3 rounds and I try and start the 4th round and it crashes soon as I press start round. It won't let me continue. Idk what to do this is annoying
Hi Turloch - not sure if you can help. Am going through career mode, but during the US Open I am getting booted from the servers 4 times a round - its almost unplayable. I mean you cant really get anything going, worried about the next server drop out. I like the game but this problem in career mode is a major issue. Am playing from Australia in the evening - maybe the servers are getting overloaded?? Cheers
Hey Mate, Love the review, quick question. I struggled big time and lowered the difficulty meter, but they start hitting crazy scores then? I’ve hired it again and they’re still hitting good scores but seems to be easier now. Just wondering if you’ve any idea what way the difficulty meter works? I assumed it would be lower it and the opponents would score lower overall scores but it confused the life out of me seeing them finish -12 and more then!
I just started playing and had this same question. Why when it's easier are there scores so much better that it also forces me to make more putts? Have you found a sweet spot?
I've been swinging slow for every shot, how do i correct that? I do like the game a solid foundation to build on. Just finished my 10 hour trial and i'll probably get full game, i wish they remove it when before every hole the licensed image pops up three times.
They both have enough differences that ill probably buy both. Still playing the 10hr trial of the EA golf game and on Xbox 2K23 Tiger Woods edition is only $60 instead of the $120 so i bought 2K first. I just started watching you n i appreciate your review of both games
EA golf 23 is miles above 2K23. Much more realistic. In 2K, I was routinely scoring 12-13 under in one round even as an amateur. Plus, who can say no to Augusta finally returning? I know my favorite course, Pebble Beach, was added to 2K post-launch, but it's more fun to play in EA. This game feels much more like Tiger Woods 14. Plus, it even has challenges reminiscent of Legends Of The Majors from 14.
After almost 60 hours that I largely liked so far, I'm sorry to say that the putting grid is pretty broken. I have a couple of putts each round (playing 4 rounders) where the dots obviously are missing or indicate the opposite direction of the break. I even recorded it for examination. When I had the reputt after the first missed one, dots on the grid went the opposite direction of what you'd expect and/or hadn't even been there at all before the first putt. Pretty much ruins the otherwise really decent game, because you miss putts on a regular base though it's not your fault! I could use that dumb preview line bc it always indicates the true break, but I don't want to. In 2k23 putting definitely feels way more intuitive, comprehensible and satisfying. Hope, EA get's this sorted out, because it's a crucial element of the game! But I highly doubt it, since they would have to check about 500 greens...
Might just be bad at reading putts. I have never had a problem once you get a slightly overpowered with a slightly fast. But other than that there are pushes and pulls which can put the ball against the break, which i think is an oversight that it doesn’t start a direction and end up taking the roll of the green.
@N0BODY No, I'm actually very good at reading putts. In 2k23 I can almost instantly aim at the right spot and even make big ones regularly. And many people have confirmed or noticed for themselves the problems I mentioned. It is obvious that the putting grid sometimes displays complete nonsense. Believe me, I know if it's me or the game. I have struggled through all the PGA skill coaching challenges and got all the stars. The putting challenges, where you have to sink 6 out of 10 shots, showed how poorly designed putting is. It literally drove me nuts, implementing timing into a putting mechanic where the difference between 0.1 and 0.3 makes a putt go left or right of the hole is just stupid. You just can't putt as safely and reliably in EA's game as you can in 2k23, especially when you can't rely on the essential grid!
@N0BODY He is correct, a few putts now have showed a break and then it breaks the other way, when you get beyond the hole after missing, the lines are breaking the correct way that your ball broke towards.
I played the 10 hour trial. 4 hours in I bought the full game. Brilliant golf game, once you learn how it plays and give it time it's a fantastic golf game. I've turned off all the help all the lines etc....and I'm hooked. Played the R&A amateur tournament at St Andrews and finished +4 that course is so fast. Played the korn ferry tour at bay hill and finished -5 so learning the courses is a must. I'm looking forward to see what updates we get maybe some new courses. Not played online yet so can't judge
@TheApexHound like you said it's not perfect but not alot of games are at launch anymore. But I'm sure they will listen to our feedback and make changes accordingly 😌
Noticed lag spikes when putting. I see ball spins in to hole, but spike and ball changed trajectory... Later changed from "Unlimited" to 60fps and it fixed issue
Just wondering - do you or anyone know what the plan is for additional courses down the line? Would we have to pay for new courses (kind of like DLC) or will the courses be added for free?
Since it's EA (!) I assure you that any potential new content will cost money! I remember spending a little fortune for getting all courses in TW 07 back then.
Fellas you HAVE TO PLAY the spotlights mode that gives you as set of challenges at Augusta, with the final boss being a golfer that you play for 18 holes with high winds. It's great.. sank a good 6 hours into completing the first spotlight
Enjoyed the trial so far. It is difficult to get the yardage right especially on approach shots. Getting better though. Only thing that wasn't mentioned that annoyed me was the constant showing of the hole then the tournament flag then something else then something else between every hole when playing in a tournament. Small thing but annoying to skip those every time. Otherwise great so far.
Good review apex! 👍 Do you work out the yardage into greens the same as in 2k?? I find myself getting flyers way over greens even off the tee and I can't workout why that's happening! Cheers
I can’t find any review that compares game play and performance between Xbox and pc. I play 2k on my PC. I recently got a Xbox series x. Not sure which platform will play best.
What worked for me so far and let me hole out a couple of times is aiming at about half the distance to the hole, maybe a bit less. Then do a partial backswing of 30 - 50%, depending on if it's a shorter or longer chip. Adding some height with the right stick can also help, if you want to let the ball land and get rolling as soon as possible.
@@Shadman1603 Yes it is. I also highly recommend doing the skill coaching challenges. They'll make you better for sure and give you lots of XP. And drive you nuts sometimes! 🤪
In my opinion, compared to 2k (sorry if you can’t reply to this for sponsor reasons @apex) in pga EA, it seems like you have to THINK your way around courses a lot more than pga 2k. Pga ea almost forces you to hit shots you don’t want to hit sometimes and it can be punishing. That’s why it’s fun. I have both games and i play 2K for the multiplayer aspect(especially for designed courses) and I play EA for the career. 😊
The graphics look amazing on this game. I recently bought The Golf Club 2019 really cheap and I've been having loads of fun with that - are the new games really that much better?
I'm not an online gamer, and I got the game solely for career mode, but why is every one of my swings on drives and approach shots anywhere from 2-3% slow? That's the only thing holding me back from playing on hard swing vs normal. I love the game so far though. Visuals are really amazing. I wish they would have more player/caddie interaction cut scenes and perhaps a walk up the 18th fairway scene during career tour rounds would be a nice addition as well. I have A.I. difficulty on like 80, and they still never hit bombs off the tee, which is a bit unrealistic. Scheffler should be hitting 325 plus off the tee, but he hits like maybe 275 average. The A.I. players lining up outside the hole on a put inside 1 foot is absolutely crazy as well, but you get used to it.
So well said about the fanboyism of some people. It is so ridiculous and pointless. It's funny that they think that anyone cares about their opinion lol Great video as always Apex
The lengths at which some people will go to to create an argument out of nothing online these days is absolutely absurd. And for what? You're not winning any arguments online, period. Even if you happen to be right, you're still wrong, because you've just wasted your time and your mental health arguing with a stranger. Congrats 👏👏
I don't think that setting your swing to the fastest makes the swing animation faster. It just sets the tempo to be faster so you have to swing faster on the stick. I was struggling with hitting the ball slow so I switched it to slowest and now hitting the ball very slow isn't a problem anymore.
Bro that shirt is badass! I might have to buy it meself. I like the game, but the swing mechanics are meh. Some of the rollouts are pretty unrealistic and the green grid isn’t always honest. It has great bones. The career mode is in depth and the game provides many opportunities to unlock gear/clubs/specs. I wish the store/pro shop had better selection of gear, but overall the gear itself looks good. I would love this game to have 2K’s swing mechanics and true shot. I miss true shot. I think true shot is one of the best additions to golf gameplay mechanics since the analog swing. Love your content Apex! Been a fan since Golf Club 19
now that I’m used to the swing mechanics and I’ve leveled up my golfer, it’s very enjoyable. playing with a brander new character was rough. love the tournaments, and I’m hooked on challenge mode. also wish there were more customization, clothing options.
Yeah the store is wack in my opinion. Other than that I really like the game. if they make the normal swing the same speed as the power drive swing I think that would be perfect
The one big disappointment is the character model customization… That is as basic as basic gets lol. We could make them nearly identical to ourselves 20 years ago. I’m sure they’ll fix that going forward.
Super solid game with a great foundation to improve upon. Here are my suggestions (THIS IS LONG but I think there's some good suggestions in here). Please add your ideas and share. Player Customization More customization for the create a player (facial features and body styles - fat, skinny, jacked, long legs, short legs, height, weight, etc). Events Option to change the number of rounds in events. Practice Driving range. Maybe even a Top Golf partnership… Night range option. Golfers Add legends (Nicklaus, Palmer, Trevino, Sneed, Hogan, etc) Throwback Mode Vintage golfers, clubs and balls. Equipment Equipment (shaft, head ball) that affects ball flight (height, distance and spin, etc). Retro Equipment. Animations More of them and more accurate to the shot result. No fist pumping when 60ft from the hole. Bend over and pick up the ball after a made putt. D’on’t just stand there like a psycho. Camera Create-A-Cam (control zoom, pitch, wide angle, etc). Keep camera from pre-address view (lower and zoomed in more on golfer - looks awesome). Don’t zoom out and change angle when the golfer addresses the ball. The big close up low angle looks super realistic. More creative ball flight camera. Close up of ball spinning - sensation of speed, etc. Roll cam - sucks. Angle it up more. Less grass more course beauty. More like the hole flyover cam. Tee Box Ability to move around in the tee box and position your shot. Caddies More caddie customization, or real caddies. Caddie tips Caddie yardage book Hold the pin Move the bag out of the way Pull clubs out of bags Towel off the ball and clubs Replays Needed. Weather/Time of Day Dynamic weather and time of day (trees swaying, clouds moving, rain). Course conditions that change with time of day and weather. Carts/Walking Would be cool to be able to drive a cart and or walk to your ball. Range Finder Ability to use a range finder to pick a target for distance, elevation, etc. Looks like looking through a range finder in real life. Lie More various lie percentages. They’re too good too often. Fat Shots/Thin Shots Should be in the game. On Screen Display Ability to turn/toggle off for more realism. Frame-rate 60fps (I know it’s coming) Driving Too easy to hit the fairway. Putting Putting needs tweaking. Make it more like 2K. More stances, more grips styles, putter lengths, etc. Green grid disappears once ball is struck. Lip-outs. Swing Add 3 click swing Option for a much faster swing. Way more swing types and animations. Shot Types Different stances for shot types Sound More driver/putter sounds. “Ooooooooh” sound when a putt is tracking towards the hole. “Boooooo” when you miss the green on 16 waste management. Stances More stances for driving, putting, bunker, flops, fades, draws, etc. Fans Fans track and react to ball more/better. Thanks for reading. Looking forward to seeing what EA can do with future updates. Cheers.
Im liking the game so far...but 30odd years of playing Golf games and i vannot figure out pitching or chipping for the life of me. Have hunted the game for a tutorial but nothing....anyone help us out. From what i can see it doesnt tell you the distance clubs hit so you have no idea where you should be going for on the arc.
I hit over 90% fairways and nearly that for GIRs on hardest difficulty. It’s way too easy to hit it exactly where you want. Absurd that Apex is having such a hard time scoring LOL
The Hud is so extra. They need options to clean it up / turn it off. Really wish they’d add the 2k style sim with the left stick. The d-pad feels gross. The lack of a course creator is a huge loss, that’s one of the things that keeps me coming back to 2k golf.
What's bothering me is that when I want to play a friend online, we can only play as our created guy. We can't play eachother with different pros. Is anyone else having this problem?
A major feature that is missing from this PGA Tour game is that you are not able to play local multiplayer alongside other players' customized avatars on the same console or system; you would have to do so online. I find this frustrating considering the fact that you could do this in other golf games.
I still play 2k21 on the switch. Still playing in the societies there and been loving it for 2 years. I definitely got my moneys worth with that purchase.
I absolutely love this game. I don't see myself going back to 2k. The access to all those courses alone makes it worth it, but the breadth of shots you can take and all the ways the course can get in your way is incredible and I've had such a blast trying to figure it out.
So far, my analysis of PGA Tour '24 delivers to me the impression that Electronic Arts has been in a considerable bit of a pickle, especially if the bugs and limitations that we got at launch could've been bigger in numbers and frequency, had this entry come out around this time last year; thanks to help from others in the community, I am able to determine that the cons of this title are due to factors from recycling old resources that still linger today and truly shows how much room for improvement is present. Below are my findings, based on everything I have managed to gather: ~ Development: It is heavily presumed that PGA Tour '24 was built on top of 'I6 (Rory McIlroy), which would explain a lot of the glitches and handicaps that we see but why we also had other uplifts, especially on the front of Graphics and Physics; although Frostbite Engine III does make virtually any game look lovely, it is sadly holding back what EA's developers can do from a Feature and Modularity standpoint that I can only imagine how much longer it'll continue to be used before having to switch to something new. ~ Mode Availability: The majority of the game's modes are confined to Online Only or needing to be hooked up to the EA Servers, something I truly hope will get changed in updates and community mods; the lack of certain games such as Stableford and reduction in Time of Day and Weather Presets also threw me for a loop, cutting multiple elements such as these truly feels like a major downgrade from 'I4 and thus I hope this too gets addressed down the road. ~ Character Customization: The ability to create Four Custom Characters returns from 'I2 to 'I4, though it retains the very strict limitations that were provided in 'I6, something that is likely a handicap of running on the Frostbite Engine; this makes me concerned for the fate of Fully Modular Characters, as the liberty to make them look exactly how you want them to and also make use of EA/Photo Game Face being omitted will hold back the true potential of '24 going forward. On the bright side, at least the RPG elements and missions allow for gear to be gradually unlocked over time; it doesn't seem as thorough as what 'I4 offered, where you could unlock about 097% of the inventory without ever touching Career Mode, but it's still forgivable to a degree that I can't be fully upset with its handling here. ~ Resolution and Framerate: PGA Tour '24 was developed with PC users in mind, Ultra Widescreen can work without many issues for footage nor the Heads~up Display (2I:09 works in Gameplay Only, not Cutscenes; 32:09 and beyond will require modding) and 060 FPS is feasibly attainable even on an All~Around setup; users with performance within the ballpark of the 1080 Ti, Radeon VII, and Arc A770 (0I6 GB) will probably not have an issue running this stable, though we'll need some Driver Updates to give it the best possible outcome, and I have yet to confirm if Reshade can be installed at this time. ~ Modding Support: The community is actively finding methods to edit the files and expand '24 beyond what is presently offered, we'll need more analysis to determine a proper roadmap but things truly do seem to be going smoothly so far and it'll be nice to see how this evolves. Over time, I will be working on a Legacy Album Pack that players will be able to use in place of the main soundtrack, delivering Remixes and Mashup Mixes using songs from every EA~based PGA Tour title spanning from the first entry in I990 and going all the way up to '24, wishfully this'll aide the Livestreamer base so copyright isn't an issue and truly allow for players to get a proper glimpse into the musical history of the series with my own personal touch. (:
After learning this game, I freaking love it. You have to readjust the club based on lie, elevation, wind, the game doesn’t just tell you what shot to hit exactly and I have grown to really like that. The graphics are also great for the courses. Once my 10 hour trial is up I’m going to purchase it.

Yeah if you’re not playing online this is a seriously good package
Muirfield Bethpage Carnoustie Palm Gardens Merion Celtic Manor will be awesome editions
Yes this alone has me staying with 2k 23
Nice review.Been playing golf game for 40 years & im loving this game.People judging the game after a few hours of play is a joke, give it time & it’s a grower.A few decent updates & we could have the best golf game we’ve had in quite a few years.
absolutely, but a lot of people are so quick nowadays. you cant deny a lot is missing in the game tho.
@@wout123100 Yeah the game does seem unfinished and rushed in places but hopefully these problems can be patched
Always love that you use the Mass Effect map music for the background of these. It never gets old.
I seriously love it lol
I have been looking forward to getting this game since it was announced but am always skeptical on releases. Watching all your content earlier this week was super helpful. Love what you are doing and I am just pumped EA is back in the game. Competition helps all of us players out!
Not only did i get a new golf game to play that is fun, but i also inadvertently found a dope new content creator to follow!
It's really insane to me that they didn't have a 3click swing at launch. Considering they put a lot into swing mechanics you'd think that you'd appeal to the older audience and at least implement something.
they clearly were rushed to get that deadline, it is incoming.
@@wout123100 hope so .. otherwise I am not buying i'll stick to 2k
@@wout123100 not only that but like thousands of golfers that like that swing method
Yeah it’s definitely optimized for console
I think they maybe need another tougher swing difficulty. I think around the green and the approach shots are tough but sometimes hitting the fairway off the tee feels too easy
Yeah I agree in regards to the fairways... It needs to be more punishing of either not straight swing planes or poor timing
yes, i got rid of all the accuracy skills for driving, better now, still somewhat easy, but better shot spreading.
in what world is hitting off a tee hard for a PROFESSIONAL golfer?
@@SilverKen15 In this world. FIR leaders on the pga tour is in the 70 something percent range at best... Average fairways in regulation normally 60 something percent. You can't miss fairways in this game...
@@SilverKen15 in what world do hit every drive 100% straight?
Honestly watching the masters this week and really looking at the swing I can see why they did the swing mechanics the way they did. I do think it needs to be tweaked to be a little more realistic but overall I really like it
Yeah small tweaks could go a long way, don't think it's that far off
100%. Each golf swing is different and even the smallest little customization will help down the line
I do wish the grid lines would disappear after you hit a putt It would just be nice to see the ball rolling towards the cup without the lines on it, and then reappear if you miss it
Believe that's coming!
I've only watched your career mode and LIV v PGA videos on this game, but from a viewing standpoint, I'm liking how it looks/plays. Not sure when I'll pick it up myself but I'm enjoying all the content and your review on the game. Keep pumping out the EA PGA content Turloch!
Thanks man, Will do!
Biggest thing i dont understand it that there needs to be so much more customization - should be heaps of custom swings to choose from - chips for runners, flops pitches, should all have different stances and ball positions imo, bunker shots should have open clubs open stances, even if theres only a few types this is a must imo
The game doesn't have any of that?
Just wish there was a way to turn off all the screen clutter (icons bottom left etc). Also hope they patch to be able to turn off the green grid lines after the shot
Agreed.
So wait, I can’t play online with my brother? If I’m looking to play both career and also online with my brother which one should I pick? I’ve been so undecided. lol.
You can play online with your brother mate
As soon as EA adds local couch co-op multiplayer with created golfers I'm definitely buying, I really like the game but that's a deal breaker atm. C'mon EA let me buy your game lol.
The fact there is no 2v2 or co op mode is laughable. Cant believe they wouldnt realize that is a core game mode
Yeah that’s fair 👍🏻
They just wanted to meet the timeline of the Masters and they screwed the pooch
Question, I only have the option to play the masters with Scheffler. I’ve played two rounds with him, but dont have a menu to access additional gamemodes. Just allows me to restart the round.
Thoughts?
I love it so far. Definitely some solid graphics. One thing that is annoying is it's so hard to control long irons. I try to go with higher loft and it still runs out forever
Try dropping a club or two depend on wind works for me
@Vincent Saputo I usually do that. I play it short of the green sometimes and it still rolls over even with maximum height/loft on the ball
Yeah long irons and woods are tough to stop on greens for sure
Yup, that's how long irons work. I'm a +3, played D1 golf -- getting a 4 iron to stop is still hard.
Hopefully they will release some patches soon to fix some of the glitches.
its not the ps5. I have it on pc and at 60fps theres serious lag in the swing. its really off putting.
That input lag on swings still is there huh? It's my only gripe and I thought it was just me
A+ presentation.
Some of the golfers are horrendous in this game
Scheffler looks like he is made of wax and been out in the sun too long and started to melt
@@Onemoreday1623probably the best golf game we have ever gotten though. Most athletes in sports games look like wax figures anyways.
"Love the graphics.."
You're EA's demographic.
My last golf game was Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2006. Would you say this is a lot better then that? starting to get back into playing these games again!!!
Sadly there ain't getting back that level of enjoyment hehe golden days
Not really. It's fun to play.
Great review and pretty much agree all round! I might have missed it, but how do you turn off the white swing line around the golfer… I don’t mean the meter with the marker that shows you how far to take the club back (I’ve already turned that off), but even with that off, when I go to swing the swing arc still shows?
Visual settings shot setup feedback off :)
Perfect - thank you
Thanks for the engaging review. I’m looking forward to getting this.
The last golf game I invested hours in was Tiger Woods 2004. I dabbled in the 2K21 game when it was part of PS Plus but wasn’t truly inspired.
Great to see 2 golf games on the market, which is great for us.
Hope you enjoy it mate, Thank you :)
Also, they need a fix for 1 rnd tournaments. 4 is too long. 2 is fine. I played two rnds at Augusta and missed the cut, but was completely exhausted after playing it. Mentally on the mind it’s a puzzle.
Im really struggling to stick the green with my apprroach shots. whenever i hit the green it rolls off, i dont know how to back spin i guess. but it made me turn off after a few hours
thats just because the greens are very hard
that is an issue of not knowing how it works, dont you understand that new things need some learning?
@@wout123100 yeah but it makes 0 sense to hit a flat green at the front with an 8 iron and still roll out 50 yards off the green… it’s just annoying
I keep push my shots right...is there a controller configuration like 2k?
How do you all hit those shots perfectly straight? I hit all of them with huge curves into the rough.
You must not watch golf lol
Couldn’t believe seeing you in the ad for the game on my ps5 home screen! Lets go Apex!
Yeah, I believe they're working on a fix for that. It was causing crashes so they removed it temporarily.
@@TheApexHound yeah they are. Haven't given a timeline but really hope it's in the next week or 2 as it's essential for the lifespan of a career mode.
Is there any way to turn off controller vibration?
I I have a problem with the career. I was not good enough in the first playthrough of US Open Amateur Championship to become one of the first 40 places. So, now I cannot longer join "The Masters" for example. Only Corn ferry tour is still available. Is there an option to play the Masters on a later time or so? Because I'm also not able to make a new playthrough on the US Open.
Yeah the game isn't easy.
Once you get to the PGA Tour you'll be able to qualify for the masters!
couldnt agree more with you, I think its tough to learn at first but surprisingly a very enjoyable game from EA
So it’s weak. Got it
I think this very accurate review , online has tons of potential, I think playing those online daily/ weekly tournaments with your friends would be great addition
Yeah good call, that would be great

@@TheApexHound it’s absolutely amazing! Played the 10hr trial and loved it! Went to Best Buy yesterday for my physical copy!!
Great review mate! We are mostly in agreement. Definitely would love the option of a fully clean screen.
100% man, hope you're enjoying!
I just finished the first 4 rounds at St. Andrews and I noticed that there wasn’t a lot of change in the pin position through the rounds
Cheers
Am playing on PC - 30FPS is poor, and you can notice it. Not a deal breaker but we need 60fps. Cheers
Are all 21 pros playable from the get-go or do you need to unlock some of them through playing challenges?
All available
Hey Mate,
Love the review, quick question.
Does anyone know if its possible to actually turn off the green grid?
I've been swinging slow for every shot, how do i correct that? I do like the game a solid foundation to build on. Just finished my 10 hour trial and i'll probably get full game, i wish they remove it when before every hole the licensed image pops up three times.
Try faster tempo maybe?

Nice review! Would you mind to share your dualsense edge controller settings for pga and 2k23?:)
They both have enough differences that ill probably buy both. Still playing the 10hr trial of the EA golf game and on Xbox 2K23 Tiger Woods edition is only $60 instead of the $120 so i bought 2K first. I just started watching you n i appreciate your review of both games
Cheers lad :)
Let’s us know which game you like better
Real golfers think they hit a shot perfect and miss all the time.
@N0BODY He is correct, a few putts now have showed a break and then it breaks the other way, when you get beyond the hole after missing, the lines are breaking the correct way that your ball broke towards.
And it's just a early game bug, the greens were mapped by helicopter and ground already, they know the exact breaks. A patch or two should help.
Thanks for the review, APH. Been anxiously awaiting your feedback around the game.
Glad you’re liking it mate :)
@TheApexHound like you said it's not perfect but not alot of games are at launch anymore. But I'm sure they will listen to our feedback and make changes accordingly 😌
Would appreciate if you would mention what system you are playing at the beginning.
Should have mentioned that yeah, playing on PS5!
@@TheApexHound thanks enjoyed the review
Noticed lag spikes when putting. I see ball spins in to hole, but spike and ball changed trajectory... Later changed from "Unlimited" to 60fps and it fixed issue
Just wondering - do you or anyone know what the plan is for additional courses down the line? Would we have to pay for new courses (kind of like DLC) or will the courses be added for free?
Since it's EA (!) I assure you that any potential new content will cost money! I remember spending a little fortune for getting all courses in TW 07 back then.
@@MediaMonsta79 Lol...I was afraid that that might be the case! Thank you for the response!

One question. Is it possible to turn off the slow-motion feature when the ball is going in?
Yes, big hit moments off
Fellas you HAVE TO PLAY the spotlights mode that gives you as set of challenges at Augusta, with the final boss being a golfer that you play for 18 holes with high winds.
It's great.. sank a good 6 hours into completing the first spotlight
Yeah need to do that definitely
Been playing video golf since Leaderboard on the Commadore 64 computer. Will have to try this one. Love those Tiger Woods games of old.
How can u speed up shots on private matches
Enjoyed the trial so far. It is difficult to get the yardage right especially on approach shots. Getting better though. Only thing that wasn't mentioned that annoyed me was the constant showing of the hole then the tournament flag then something else then something else between every hole when playing in a tournament. Small thing but annoying to skip those every time. Otherwise great so far.
you can disable that,,i think it is the preview hole.
@@wout123100 thanks, I will definately look into that
Good review apex! 👍
Do you work out the yardage into greens the same as in 2k?? I find myself getting flyers way over greens even off the tee and I can't workout why that's happening! Cheers
Yeah honestly distance control is pretty tough in this game
Yes. Especially approach shots with irons or woods hardly stick on the greens, running for ages! 😄
I can’t find any review that compares game play and performance between Xbox and pc. I play 2k on my PC. I recently got a Xbox series x. Not sure which platform will play best.
I would have thought PC for sure. It just depends on your PC.

Where is the crowd at St Andrews In Quick Play? ⛳
Do you know how you can make a left-handed golfer? Can not find the option.
You go to settings and gameplay and its there
Im struggling with chip shots, I always over hit them. I cant see a way to see how far your club can hit the ball when chipping?
What worked for me so far and let me hole out a couple of times is aiming at about half the distance to the hole, maybe a bit less. Then do a partial backswing of 30 - 50%, depending on if it's a shorter or longer chip. Adding some height with the right stick can also help, if you want to let the ball land and get rolling as soon as possible.
@@MediaMonsta79 ok thanks. Guess its all practice 😁

Welcome aboard! Thanks man
In my opinion, compared to 2k (sorry if you can’t reply to this for sponsor reasons @apex) in pga EA, it seems like you have to THINK your way around courses a lot more than pga 2k. Pga ea almost forces you to hit shots you don’t want to hit sometimes and it can be punishing. That’s why it’s fun. I have both games and i play 2K for the multiplayer aspect(especially for designed courses) and I play EA for the career. 😊
would you recommend 2k over EA for playing a round with the homies?
The graphics look amazing on this game.
I recently bought The Golf Club 2019 really cheap and I've been having loads of fun with that - are the new games really that much better?
I'm same with TGC2019, feels great, properly hard, plus someone made my local golf course in it so I can prep for spring.
2k23 is pretty damn good.
Is there voice chat in an online lobby?
Can you post the sliders you play on?
Well there be a patch for 60 fps on Ps5 or just the pc version?
60Fps coming for consoles
It already has 60+ fps on PC
I was struggling with hitting the ball slow so I switched it to slowest and now hitting the ball very slow isn't a problem anymore.
indeed, it is just the tempo calculation.
Yeah it's just the tempo. Nothing actually changes how slow the actual swing is.
Is there an overall score you had in mind for this? I know 2k got 19/30 on your scale several months back.
I'm done with scoring stuff to be honest, Don't think it really does anything for me
Bro that shirt is badass!
Glad you like it man!
now that I’m used to the swing mechanics and I’ve leveled up my golfer, it’s very enjoyable. playing with a brander new character was rough. love the tournaments, and I’m hooked on challenge mode. also wish there were more customization, clothing options.
That will most likely be the dlc's, clothes and so on for sure.
Player Customization
More customization for the create a player (facial features and body styles - fat, skinny, jacked, long legs, short legs, height, weight, etc).
Events
Option to change the number of rounds in events.
Practice
Driving range. Maybe even a Top Golf partnership…
Night range option.
Golfers
Add legends (Nicklaus, Palmer, Trevino, Sneed, Hogan, etc)
Throwback Mode
Vintage golfers, clubs and balls.
Equipment
Equipment (shaft, head ball) that affects ball flight (height, distance and spin, etc).
Retro Equipment.
Animations
More of them and more accurate to the shot result. No fist pumping when 60ft from the hole.
Bend over and pick up the ball after a made putt. D’on’t just stand there like a psycho.
Camera
Create-A-Cam (control zoom, pitch, wide angle, etc).
Tee Box
Ability to move around in the tee box and position your shot.
Caddies
More caddie customization, or real caddies.
Caddie tips
Caddie yardage book
Hold the pin
Move the bag out of the way
Pull clubs out of bags
Towel off the ball and clubs
Replays
Needed.
Weather/Time of Day
Dynamic weather and time of day (trees swaying, clouds moving, rain).
Course conditions that change with time of day and weather.
Carts/Walking
Would be cool to be able to drive a cart and or walk to your ball.
Range Finder
Ability to use a range finder to pick a target for distance, elevation, etc.
Looks like looking through a range finder in real life.
Lie
More various lie percentages. They’re too good too often.
Fat Shots/Thin Shots
Should be in the game.
On Screen Display
Ability to turn/toggle off for more realism.
Frame-rate
60fps (I know it’s coming)
Driving
Too easy to hit the fairway.
Putting
Putting needs tweaking. Make it more like 2K.
More stances, more grips styles, putter lengths, etc.
Green grid disappears once ball is struck.
Lip-outs.
Swing
Add 3 click swing
Option for a much faster swing.
Way more swing types and animations.
Shot Types
Different stances for shot types
Sound
More driver/putter sounds.
“Ooooooooh” sound when a putt is tracking towards the hole.
“Boooooo” when you miss the green on 16 waste management.
Stances
More stances for driving, putting, bunker, flops, fades, draws, etc.
Fans
Fans track and react to ball more/better.
Thanks for reading. Looking forward to seeing what EA can do with future updates. Cheers.
Totally agree with you on the ea/2k fan boy crap! Great review!
Is the swing timing the same as 2k23?
I have a hard time playing online on 2k lol
it it totally different, try the trail, then you know.
@@wout123100 I didn’t know I could try it !
Thanks.
Actually it is really easy to go crazy off course from the tee shot, especially if you're golfer has a natural Draw, like mine does.
Below are my findings, based on everything I have managed to gather:
~ Development: It is heavily presumed that PGA Tour '24 was built on top of 'I6 (Rory McIlroy), which would explain a lot of the glitches and handicaps that we see but why we also had other uplifts, especially on the front of Graphics and Physics; although Frostbite Engine III does make virtually any game look lovely, it is sadly holding back what EA's developers can do from a Feature and Modularity standpoint that I can only imagine how much longer it'll continue to be used before having to switch to something new.
This sounds like it was written by A.I.
