i saw ur vid last night and did the mod today on mine..........thanks for showing us these mods my friend......truly easy too do.....this was the first mode ive ever did too! on a 400 plus dollar figure i was freaking out a lil but once i finished i couldnt believe how awesome these mods were............good job man
Awesome tutorial mate!! The eye paint is something I wanna do as it makes a BIG difference, tho I'm not sure I'd have the stones!! The black wash is an awesome tip too....cheers for this vid buddy
Hi ric got to say another quality video, imo probably one of your best, has given me the confidence to try these mods after seeing how relatively easy they are. Keep up the excellent work.
I purchased this figure when it first came out many moons ago and I remember being blown away on how great this figure is. Especially when you compare ot to the previous Hot Toys DK figures that came before it! I put the figure back in the box and haven't seen it for a few years. I recently took it back out of the box and is currently on my display and can't help but to see all the issues with the figure... The long neck and the bulky chest is what really stands out for me. After seeing your video, I can't unsee how the gloves look off, in a way where it doesn't look organic and makes it look like a toy. I'm gonna be doing these mods this weekend, I want to see how I feel about the paint around the eyes. I kind of like seeing the flesh around the eyes, as it make them look realistic, but you are right about how they kind of look googly. The wash on the face plates are a nice touch, as well. If I'm gonna do the wash on the faceplate, I might as well paint around the eyes also. Great job on this video, you didn't have to share all your secrets. We appriciate it!
Such a helpful video. The one issue I had that prevented me from buying this figure was the shoulders. Your solution is perfect. Im very excited to get this figure and make pretty much all the mods you've shown. Figures look great! It's been 8 years and this video is still helping folks like me. Cheers, mate.
What a great vid rick , will be trying lot of theses mod, eye painting might pass as not to confident enuff . Thank you for taking time to do this hour + vid , that's commitment !!
Fantastic video with some really cool ideas. You have balls of steel to paint around the eyes like that. It looks amazing, but I don't think I could ever bring myself to even attempt it. That glove and gauntlet mod is really tempting though.
Wow..Standing ovation buddy..I sat and watched the entire vid with great interest..You know I don't kiss ass unless someone deserves it..but this is the best tutorial of a figure to date..and the fact that its the bats makes it even sweeter ..Every mod had its reason to be done and the results speak for themselves..I watched this on a 50 inch flatscreen and it was wonderful without commercials and 100 times better then coronation street..lol. ..massive respect for such a undertaking..Love Bro
Great mods Rick! I think the glove and gauntlet is my favorite! Also I like the eye mod! Thanks for such a detailed video. I hade to watch this in two sittings lol.
I must say these mod were pretty simple! I just bought one used for 300 on ebay w/one listed flaw(no bat pod adapter). Right out of the box I noticed a loose arm. Pulled out the neck to find a broken shoulder. Messaged and got $75 back, and then I decided eh what the hell. The only thing I didn't do was paint the eyes, but otherwise it took about 30 or 45 mins. Considering what I paid/that I can't really sell this later, it was worth it. I will say only to be careful sanding the top of the hands. One of my gauntlets hand holes is slightly more ovular vs circular due to how its forced to overlap the hand.
Thanks for the video. I've just done the shoulder pads/chest, neck and the gauntlets. I already done the glove cuffs but look better now with the gauntlets over lapping. Only thing left to do is the eyes.
Some good tips there love the gauntlet mods and the chest mod too!!! So tell me what sort of price are the tony mai capes at and also the dark spartan cape??
Cool vid rick not gonna do any of it to my batman cos I'm happy as he is but very interesting to watch incase I want to do something like this to other figures. Cool video clipper
You got balls of steel mate. I might risk it too one day, since I have two dx12... I'm gonna wait until their 1:4 batman comes out, if its perfect then I'll keep the two dx as they are. Please leave this video online till then.
Excellent video. How or were did you get the cape? I have never liked the cape that came with it and would love to replace it with one like yours (the straight hanging one).
That's a lot of great mods scary to do on fig sometimes but if u never do yourself then it will never get done-made it thru most of vid but hope to catch rest later
So that's how you use a wash? Every other video just shows you paint it on like you paint a base coat and it just works, no one ever mentions that you first paint it on then wipe it off while it is still wet! However, every time I tried it that way, I ended up with water marks, could never get it neat like you have. Thanks for the massive clip Clipper, also the other you mentioned were good to but that part really stood out!
Since you stretching the gauntlets to fit over the gloves; couldn't one leave the gloves as-is and have the gauntlets cover the glove part you cut off in the first step? Regardless, good stuff!
hi clipper , I love your reviews and such mate & have been listening to them for more than year now , and I have listened to quite a lot of them and downloaded them to my iphone. My favourite review so far is your Classic Predator /P1 Comparrison video. This is just my thoughts but I was hoping you would consider maybe adding in a score system for "balance" - whether or not that falls under posing /articulation I don't know. I just think it would be awesome and also important to add "balance " in as part of your reviews. Cheers Brother PS I really enjoyed this video . I mot not sure ill do the neck mod , but the others seem a good enough reason to do mod the DX12. would you also consider doing a top ten worst figures not to buy type video or times when you had completely ruined a figure if that ever happened.
I really enjoyed your tutorial, I wish I had the skills to do something like this myself
you got another 1+hr. of my life, every time i think 'i'll watch a little'.. you pull me in for the duration. bravo
Epic stuff man. I did the kettle steaming trick after watching this. Nice one!
Awesome custom work. Amazing the things you can do to make them look that much better. !!!! Great job!
Really enjoyed watching your custom work on this Rick, especially as the figure is now mine!!
Cliff, I would like to thank you from across the pond in sharing your video.

Stay in touch and Best Regards,

thanks for the vid! I only did the neck and glove mods, but the neck alone improved the look of the figure. thanks again!
You're a gangster grinding down that neck piece w/ brick. But it looks beeeeauuuuutiful when done. Nice work!
