Great clips. I was an aircraft mechanic working at Love Field from 1965 to 1968. Home base was Gate 9 on the Yellow Concourse, straight ahead from the terminal and first gate on the right. It was a good place from which to watch the passing parade of BI stewardesses in their colorful collection of uniforms. Outside of the terminal, the noise from the engines of the early jetliners was incredible. In today's quieter environment, that level of noise for a single day would cause Highland Park to secede from the Union and drive the residents along Lemmon Avenue insane. Even the piston-engined aircraft added to the racket--I can remember the weekly departure of the Air Force C-124 from Love on its routine parts distribution flights because its slow climb from takeoff took it right over my apartment on Holland Avenue, rattling my windows as it passed low over the water tower next door.

Terrific vintage home movies of Dallas Love Field in the late 1960s. Thanks for sharing! At least we got one Douglas product in at the end being that Delta DC-8 taking off.

Brought back a memory for me. My late aunt and my cousin lived on W. Amherst and when I'd visit, I always wanted to walk down to Lemmon Ave and watch the planes take of and land from across the fence.

Grew up in park cities in the 60s - minutes from love field. My family flew on BI on a regular basis. Great times.

Grew up not far from DAL in the late 60s early 70s, many fond memories of actually walking around Bachman Lake and occasionally to the terminal it self and watching the parade of multi-hued 707s, 727s and Bac111s as well as L-188 Electras arrive and depart, along with many AA birds

Love that Delta 880 landing so fast because that plane didn't have slats under the leading edge. Very fast aircraft, but five across seating and limited range doomed its future.

Just curious do you have video of the neighborhood next to the airport?
