I think that would be possible, but it would take larger cores, or electromagnets with a primary magnetic flux axis exposed. These cores are relatively easy to saturate, and the magnetic field is essentially fully contained in the core itself.
exactly what toroid did you use, i would like to make a turing machine using these so i can write directly to it with magnets. (for synthesizer purposes) have been binge watching ferrite core memory videos, ferrite cores are fucking dope.
The cores are from eBay, 50mil size. eBay search term "MAGNETIC FERRITE CORES 5221.3-2113.35" should give you some good options to buy in a qty of 1000. Make sure you order the ones that are slightly larger than 1.2mm OD with the specific numbers in the search string. They also sell a smaller size that is far more difficult to work with.
Thank you Ricardo! The project has expanded to a dedicated 8x8 core design. It is in the beta test stage now, with a few kits still available through www.Core64.io/
Very cool project, great way to put a lost technology to use again!
I'm visiting from the Element 14 project page. This is a really neat idea! Well done. I hope you win.
Thanks! I had a lot of fun turning that idea into reality.
Now this,
this is epic😎
Brilliant!
Very cool project! Thanks for sharing.
core melory is neat
That’s really cool.
The game of snake has been expanded to 8x8 bits and is much more playable now: th-cam.com/video/442IAOkhoIE/w-d-xo.html

hey, i was just wandering. wat will happen you reverse this system. can you make magnetic images with it ? if you use a magnetic flux indicator strip.

How is this?
It is amazing.

Sell Thgis Like Gameboy For Tinkerels And Kids
I am definitely going in that direction. Beta kits are being assembled and I am gathering feedback to shape this into viable product.
