- Gen 3 US General w/Hutch from Harbor Freight announced today at SEMA! I finally get to talk about this , Harbor Freight is launching a US general generation three cabinets with hutch and all the skittles colors plus gray and white. This is just your first taste, I’ll have more details to follow.
I have a ton of more information on this and a bunch other tools from Harbor Freight. Stay tuned I’m still on the show floor right now so it’s gonna take a while to edit them and get them uploaded but I wanted to get this to you first.
I would be interested in seeing under the top drawers and what type of supports they have for your "main socket draw"

Things we want to know:
1) How deep are the drawers front to back
2) will the lockers and work center be able to fit series 2 models
3) are the drawer slides made so that the drawer fully opens to the point that the back of the drawer comes flush with the front of the cabinet.
4) overall weight and storage capacity compared to series 2
5) prices at launch
What's the depth?
I'm glad to see harbor freight is really listening and giving the consumer what we want. First was the 5 year warranty on hercules and now a hutch for the US general and the Grey and white in all the US general boxes. Can't wait to see what they do next.
If it's 24" deep, I'm in.
Harbour Freight has became my go to place for quality affordable tools and they continue to get more impressive with every new product release. I have the Vulcan omnipro 220 welder and have been nothing but impressed with it and I have stick welded a lot of thick tubing and plate with 5/32" 7018 at 150 to 160 amps and have never hit the duty cycle. It is exciting to watch harbour freight as they transition to premium tools. I no longer feel that I am making a compromise by buying tools from harbour freight. I don't buy 100% of my tools from harbour freight but a large portion comes from there.
I hope they clearance out the series 2 stuff when this stuff drops.
Curious to see pricing to compare with the Icon. Really like the updated locked and the hutch.
This has been greatly anticipated.
I was looking at the Icon strictly because of the hutch upgrade/addition.
My only wish list if it comes with a Stainless top. 😊
Give it some time im sure Us Gen will give more variation on the hutch set up

Gonna be prefect for me as an auto mechanic cause the husky stuff just doesn't last long enough for me. Way to thin of metal in craftsman ship is poor. Looking forward to this in see what price they will have it at
They mentioned the 72” hutch but also alluded to other dimensions for the hutch. Curious to see how many hutch sizes there might be.
On the left shadow of the sign where it says coming soon, it looks like there's a smaller hutch being released.
Well guess I'm going to be able to replace my Husky 72" with home-made Hutch soon :-) Can't wait to get the Gen3 72 w/new Slide Lockers and Hutch.😃

Interesting I wonder how they are going to work this. It seems US general is going toe to toe with ICON as far as storage. I have always liked US General really good build quality.
After seeing what Husky has to offer and at the price point of the US General, I have to go with Husky. No offense to Harbor Freight, but they are really pricing themselves out of the budget tool storage game.
Exactly... they have lost sight of their place in the market.
One thing to consider is that the US general boxes are FAR superior to the husky products at the same price in build quality
yup.. they keep raising prices on everything to the point where i may have to go back to brand name tools. there are no more deals at HFT.. even their black friday email looks like regular prices. not one actual price drop for black friday!.. so sad to see them shooting themselves in the foot over and over again. i rarely ever go there anymore cuz its cheaper at the big box stores where im there to get materials anyway.
@@cjhowell6406 I recently checked out the Husky line for my channel and I have to say that they seem to have upped their game compared to their old stuff. Give them a second look. At $700 cheaper for the 72 inch Tool chest, I'm willing to roll the dice on Husky.

Hey Den of Tools.... any inside info on the Gen 3 pre-order date. I am ready to pull the trigger on an ICON setup with the 10% this week, but if this is coming in a couple weeks I may wait to touchy / feel it. Much appreciated with everything you do!
Wonder if they will have a top chest for a 44 and the series 3 will be compatible with the series 2

Will these newer cabinets work with the General 2? I'd like to be able to add side cabinets to my US2 box on down the road when I need the storage.

So In this video he says deeper drawers so I assumed a deeper toolbox but he must of meant to say wider, hf on their instagram post replied to a commenter and said Gen 3 is same depth as Gen 2. Bummer.
At SEMA myself actually seen you there talking to them. Love the hutch, love the locker. That being said do not like the way the plastic feels when u try to open the drawers. Seems flimsy and too much give. This is the same reason I have not purchased the tool cart. Don’t think it is selling very well as the price has gone from $799 down to $499 at times.
That’s normal harbor freight marketing strategy. They normally adjust the price downward in the months following a new release. Has no bearing on sales volume.
When is the 56inch hutch being realeased?

I'm sitting with a 56" top and bottom cabinet with 2 side lockers. Any word on if they are designing to allow direct tie in to the Gen2 cabinets?

Lol, Considering SO has a MSRP of 16000 or so on a basic 72" box, I seriously doubt it.
How much deeper are the drawers than the current 22 inches?
What's the difference between this and there current offerings. I'm not a huge tool box guy. I just got one of the big stainless ones you used to get from Sam's club about 10 years ago.

The hooks being left out side the side lockers kills the looks makes it look cheap.

I was wondering if they'd work with my original US General (no series). Probably not, as I think the Series 2 is about 2" deeper. Correct?
