Nigeria changes its tune and supports the Eco!
A major change of direction is expected during the ECOWAS summit which was held on Sunday 7 July 2024 in Abuja. Indeed, under the presidency of the Nigerian head of state, Bola Tinubu, the country now seems to support the Eco, the community's long-awaited common currency.
This reversal of position by Nigeria, an economic heavyweight in the region, should have a significant impact on the discussions that will take place during the summit. The adoption of Eco is a hot topic that has divided ECOWAS member countries for several years.
The Abuja summit will therefore be an opportunity to see if this change in Nigeria's position will finally make it possible to move the issue forward and realize the dream of a single currency for West Africa.

Nigeria had always proclaimed itself to be a superpower in Africa. During the coup in Niger, Nigeria's ability to take sides was tested. Tinubu refused. With the acceptance of ECOWAS, it means Nigeria has formally handed over its economic sovereignty to France. Nigeria is not a superpower. AES is now the new superpower in West Africa. With time, ECOWAS will disintegrate. And if Nigeria is not careful, it will disintegrate. And it will disintegrate in a very bad way.

The problem in Nigeria is the military has murdered a lot of youth since the Lekky protest. What is trending now for Nigerians is "Japa!" Traveling out of the country.

Yes. AES going to have their own currency. They are NOT going to be part of ECO that is still tied to France.
Now, all the English speaking West African countries going to be paying France as well. SAD!

I think the last hour is coming soon, and GOD displays the truth from those who have been oppressed, from every corner of the earth, and from the oppressor themselves.
Allah is revealing all truths in 2024 and the The truth will always prevail.

The traitors have won for now but the Sahel currency will prevail. AES has already been admitted into the BRICS.Nigeria will regret using ECO and abandon the currency when Tinubu is defeated and leaves office.

While Africa is having a problem discarding undesirable Western influences, the west has a problem embracing desirable outside influences.

The ECO was easy to decline and was a failure before launch.
The whole point was to have an independent currency that was not controlled by external central banks or pegged to external currencies such as the Euro.
If the currency can not stand on its own backed by refional resources, then it is not worth pushing or creating.
Carry on as is, before we fall for yet another trap that is avoidable…

I'm not sure what's "shocking" about this. Nigeria slowly devolved into an outpost of Western neo-colonialism immediately after the end of Nnamdi Azikiwe's Presidency in 1966, its only Pan Africanist leader ever. Nigeria has never recovered since. What else can be expected of Alassane Ouattara? He was literally brought into office by the French military who deposed & kidnapped Laurent Bagbo in 2011. France has kept him in power since & supported his constitutional coup in which he extended his term of office. These are the ECOWAS goons we have to contend with.

As long as Nigeria has the president they have it will always be a puppy state of the West Nigeria could use his power to help other countries but instead they helped the West do their bidding this is the problem this is what the West used to divide Africans too many African leaders are willing to sell us out but the tide is turning in Africa AES is the new Africa.
