    You can also make a matching bandeau out of the leftover fabric for more coverage! Hope this video helps some of you out! The possibilities are endless and I can spend hours thinking of new ways to tie this dress :)

    • @ElizabethJones-pv3sj
      @ElizabethJones-pv3sj 5 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      I was just about to suggest this for those of us who can't get away without a bra. You can also make the bandeau longer so it comes down to the waist (maybe it should be called a strapless camisole?) into the seam attaching the straps and around the back of the skirt so it can't get lost (given that if you lose it there's about 3 ways you can drape it without showing your bra).

    • @thatsillysmithgirlakateres3399

      Will you please explain how to make one with a bandeau top?

    • @isabelleblanchet3694
      @isabelleblanchet3694 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@ElizabethJones-pv3sj I did a dress like that for my sister-in-law's wedding a few years back. For my personal comfort I sew the tube top to the skirt at the back, but not at the front so I could breastfeed my baby without undressing myself too much.

    • @ElizabethJones-pv3sj

      April, I was just going to ask you about more coverage options for the back!! I was thinking similar straps as in the front, a bandeau is an excellent option!! This dress looks great on you in all the ways you showed it. I think you have given people getting married a super great option for their Bridesmaids!!!!!!! Great work!

    Based only on my infinity dress wearing experience, since the spandex/jersey tends to cling on your body, if the fabric is too thin a lot of unflattering parts will show up. A simple solution is to have a tulle overlay over the infinity dress or make sure that it’s made from good quality jersey/spandex. Hope this helps.

    • @coolirpa
      @coolirpa  5 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      Rachel Chua great tip! Thanks

    • @rachelnation2021
      @rachelnation2021 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I wonder if adding pleats in the skirt could also help prevent this. 🤔

    • @creativecheersoffashionlau7364
      @creativecheersoffashionlau7364 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Rachel Chua Yes you are totally right! I wanted to make this dress on my channel but just coukdnt find a really good fabric for it and indeed thst is very important. Or you should wear a strapless shapewear dress inderneath. But thst takes away tge comfort of the dress

    • @iBurgie
      @iBurgie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Good point. In addition to a thicker fabric, a darker color may help to mask unflattering traits.

    $30 and 30 minutes of sewing? 🙀Y’all, this is a game changer. I wish I was still a wedding coordinator so I could tell all my budget brides about this tutorial! These dresses always go for at least $90 retail

    • @jlbeeen
      @jlbeeen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yeah. Sadly in Canada, fabric like that is more like $20/y (after converting to USD and yards from CAD/metric), but I guess it all depends on how close you are to a fashion district. Like Vancouver or Toronto in Canada, and LA and New York in the US since those places often sell for less than retail. But what's nice about making something is there are more options. Like having two fabrics, custom sizes, and the ability to add any details you may want like lace, embroidery, or even gluing on sequins.

    • @panda5122
      @panda5122 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was a bridesmaid in a wedding 10 years ago and we wore these dresses. Yes it was $80 or $90, but it was made by someone with years of sewing and tailoring experience. There was no way I could DIY this. So the $90 included that.

  • @edgesamantha

    I actually picked up an infinity dress in basically the same colour as yours from my local op shop for $15. Didn't have a particular event in mind, but knowing how beautiful and versatile they are I figured I would find something to wear it to! Love seeing that these can be made easily enough too! Would be a great way to save money on bridesmaids dresses for people getting married. As usual your video has highlighted a couple of things I'm not acquainted with, so I will look into them and expand my knowledge. Thanks for the video!

    April you look lovely as always! I especially like the fluid movement of the skirt.
    I remember how 10 or more years ago Victoria's Secret website used to sell infinity dresses for like 80 or 90 dollars. if not more. insane price for a simplest cut and a bit of stretchy fabric that doesn't even require hemming and any other finishing. other online stores had similar dresses too, as mentioned in the video they were selling them as bridesmaids dresses. their emphasis was that every bridesmaid could style the straps her own way, depending on how much skin she was willing to show. and still as a group they will look somewhat uniformed.

    This is really a simple, easy tutorial I love it! I might try a chiffon or satin because I’ve been having issues with 4 way stretch fabrics. Idk what it is, but I’ll changed the needles, use different types of stitches, but my machine just can’t handle them so I don’t even bother to work with the material anymore. As plan on getting a serger one day cause I can’t do an overlock stitch anymore (that’s the most troubling honestly). Hopefully a less stretchy material will still turn out nicely, maybe I’ll add elastic in the back of the skirt for easy removal
