I played guitar and banjo for her on that Cavett show. What an elegant and remarkable performer. A true professional! What an honor to be with her then!!
@Rob What a privilege. Thanks for sharing.
23:37 "Robert Tomaro".
Lookin' good!
That's fantastic, sir!!!
@@ksteiger Thanks, Ken!!! She was a wonderful artist!!
@@robtomaro5171 I just viewed her appearance on What's my Line from 1955. What a presence!!!
Liberace tells a story that in 1945 he was to follow her act at the Plaza Hotel and she had all the gimmicks of the gloves the roses and such a class act that he needed a gimmick to be noticed .... so after seeing a movie about Chopin that featured the Candelabra that he went out and got one for his piano and that became his trademark
So charming and elegant
Incredible that Hildegarde was 75 at this time. A very youthful appearance and voice.
We born on February 1st are youthful and childlike, ageless
I'm always writing it , but it's true , he had the best guests of any talk-show in television history , and now there's no one , what a shame ! I wish they'd put him back on television with a new version of his show !
She was a true delight! Well-spoken, polite and impishly charming.
Hildegard lived for another 24 years and died aged 99 in 2005.
nostalgia and why dont we have this talent anymore instead of fake reality stars ??!!
even food was way better than gmo today
She is having so much fun preforming what energy at her age beautiful woman !
A very lovely person who gets me to be a little proud of my name. I always thought it very oldfashoned. But Americans pronounce it so lovely.
She’s a beautiful, amazing lady & talent! So glad to have seen this!!
Wonderful Kind Very Beautiful Person Hildegarde
In Chicago, she used to play at the Empire Room. A beloved character and a very successful entertainer for decades.
When she was singing, she looked 30 again. What a delightful lady
She was so hilarious 😂
SPECTACULAR
Marilyn Monroe imitated her style in the film BUS STOP, and even mentioned her name I wonder if they ever met .
A fascinating person. Television (and crime) killed the night club performer. An interesting take.
I doubt that anyone can help out with this observation - the necklace that Hildegarde is wearing looks like real diamonds. Anyone out in TH-camLand have something to offer?
She reminds me of Debbie Reynolds in her lovely personality and style of speaking.
please don't insult Hildegard with that comparison!
