Joel Salatin on Thomas Jefferson

Joel Salatin, author and third generation alternative farmer of Polyface, Inc., attended the Dialogue Project on Food and Agriculture at Monticello on September 5, 2013. Salatin sat down with Monticello and shared his thoughts on Thomas Jefferson, modern agrarian lifestyles, and the history of agriculture in America.

I Believe many of his methods were developed in his mind based on his early visits to France and other European countries and witnessing the age old tried and true methods of Farming and animal husbandry. He came back with those memories mixed with his own adaptation thoughts to his farm.
