Officers are trained to de-escalate, they are trained to respond with appropriate strategies and protocols for traffic stops, arresting people and so on and so on. This was ego based terrorization and completely inhumane treatment of an innocent young man. These cops were high tempered going into the traffic stop. They didn't give Tyre the opportunity to speak and when Tyre spoke, they ignored him and didn't listen. Active listening skills and communication skills are critical to producing positive outcomes. We can't even say this was reckless negligence causing death, it was a blatant non-stop attack. They kept assaulting Tyre even when this young man couldn't hold himself up. And then, a multitude of them are just standing there staring at Tyre, walking around, talking and doing nothing to help him after their vicious attack. Those in policing who stand by and watch a human being assaulted or mistreated by another police officer and say or do nothing are just as guilty. There is, and never will be any justification for this horrific unconscionable behaviour on the part of all these officers, those that did the crime and those that watched or those that did nothing. This poor kid died because of this and THEY (all of them, including judges, prosecutors, police chiefs, cops, etc.) are responsible for his death.
