Nexus 7 2013 Storage upgrade (128GB)

  • I upgraded storage to 128GB. The old chip is eMMC ver 4.X, new chip is eMMC 5.1 so it needs kernel that supports it. Also TWRP needs to support eMMC 5.1. The files can be found from xda.

    Did this improve I/O access times at all? Does it feel "snappier" now? I don't need the extra space, but the feel of the device (with the last Lineage and F2FS, too, if I remember correctly) is really getting on my nerves these days.

      Emmc 5.1 improved speed compared to the 4.0. I didn't do tests but it feels a bit snappier. Is it worth it to upgrade 5.1? I feel that the processor and ram are too old and something with newer processor and ram would be better. It is after all 10 years old device.

      @@kaarelkaine6410 Tahnk you for the reply! I feared as much, I guess it was wishful thinking to begin with. But at least it would be good soldering excercise when I decide that I am fully done with my Nexus 7. Still nice to see that an upgrade can be done! Thank you for the video!
