I upgraded storage to 128GB. The old chip is eMMC ver 4.X, new chip is eMMC 5.1 so it needs kernel that supports it. Also TWRP needs to support eMMC 5.1. The files can be found from xda.
Did this improve I/O access times at all? Does it feel "snappier" now? I don't need the extra space, but the feel of the device (with the last Lineage and F2FS, too, if I remember correctly) is really getting on my nerves these days.
Emmc 5.1 improved speed compared to the 4.0. I didn't do tests but it feels a bit snappier. Is it worth it to upgrade 5.1? I feel that the processor and ram are too old and something with newer processor and ram would be better. It is after all 10 years old device.
