Kid Blink stood his ground when the barrel of a gun was shoved down his throat. This production made me research the Newsie strike and it’s FASCINATING. Not to mention it makes me feel like I could stand up to anything!!

I just wish that we knew more about it and like I know in same towns in the US they teach about the Scottsboro Boys (not where I live) but what about the 1899 Newsboys strike?Huh??? Do they teach about that? No, they don’t? I mean we can learn about it then watch the movie (preferably the broadway version) . Anyway there is my little Newsies rant over for the day XD! Now that Disney Plus is coming out in like three days I’m getting that newsies hype I had back in like September last year... the sorrow from when they took it off Netflix is fading away... now just to hope it’s actually on Disney Plus XD!!!

This is like the only version of this song that you can hear the click and whirring of the printing press during the song. I will tell you that hearing that live is so cool! And they run that thing in beat with the music. I saw this in a theater near Atlanta, GA and got to sit near the printing press, it is so much louder live and really adds another layer and element to the song. All goosebumps during this song!
We're performing this and the guy we have playing Race is hitting it pretty spot on for a non professional performance. Every rehearsal with him is so lit, he's honestly the life of our show.

This song is really beautiful. Let's just see: Newsies are just poor kids that are made to work to mantain themselves and their families, they have no rights, and instead of thinking about them, they just do it for EVERY kid like them, they are powerful, they are brave, they have the most beautiful heart and the only reason they are doing all that is just for EVERY KIDS' RIGHTS. This is why I love Newsies, not just for the dances, not for the funny moments, but for the real reason why the story delevelope, kids that are seen as nothing for society screaming that every human should have their rights, that EVERY KID SHOULD HAVE THEIR RIGHTS. They are just amazing.

Honestly with everything that’s going on in the world right now I really feel like this song speaks volumes about times like these. If you look closely, you can see the parallels between our generation and the Newsies. We both are fighting for justice and equality. We are both fighting for a place at the table and are not backing down just because our elders say “We’re just kids.” We both will not be stopped just because of some persons ignorance. Like the Newsies, we all came from different backgrounds but when we needed each other, our generation all came together to fight side by side and demanded change. At the end of the day both our fights will be worth it in the end. Sorry for this essay I’ve just had a lot on my mind. Stay strong guys!

We also do a musical at the west end every few years but I don't think I'll ever be able to cause we were supposed to do it at the end of 2020 and its only till your 18 and I'm 16 now

I feel like this song, and this musical as a whole, is like super relevant right now. It’s all about stepping up and demanding change and not letting someone tell you that you can’t do something just because you’re a kid or you’re poor or any other excuse. It’s about seeing a wrong and fighting to right it. There’s so much going on in our world right now and this whole musical’s message just really resonates with me these days. Newsies so deserves a revival. It’s honestly powerful and so relevant

So I auditioned for a local production of Newsies and didn’t get it. However, Im fortunate enough to be able to be a part of tech crew! This is my favorite song, so whenever this song came on (and it wasn’t tech week yet), I would JAM OUT and apparently pump some of the cast up. Because of that, one of my friends in the cast wants to sneak me onstage for this song at the last performance. I’m SO gonna so it, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity! I was devastated when I didn’t get in, and this is practically a dream role, so being able to even have a taste of being a Newsie is something I’m so excited and grateful for.
For most of my life I was never able to pick a single favorite song in general out of all the music i love. I think i finally can since this one has both a history for me and is just really damn awesome.

So I auditioned for a local production of Newsies and didn’t get it. However, Im fortunate enough to be able to be a part of tech crew! This is my favorite song, so whenever this song came on (and it wasn’t tech week yet), I would JAM OUT and apparently pump some of the cast up. Because of that, one of my friends in the cast wants to sneak me onstage for this song at the last performance. I’m SO gonna so it, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity! I was devastated when I didn’t get in, and this is practically a dream role, so being able to even have a taste of being a Newsie is something I’m so excited and grateful for.
For most of my life I was never able to pick a single favorite song in general out of all the music i love. I think i finally can since this one has both a history for me and is just really damn awesome.

I love playing this song, except for the part where the ensemble says “once and for all there’ll be blood on the walls.” Doing that on cello is tough, especially because of a weird clef change.
the little guitar solo is so underrated. yes, it's only a small little twiddle, but my god, does it does make this song that much better

Well, I was a Newsie. I delivered papes, I got crappy pay, and I would fall asleep in class due to the hours, but it gave me a work ethic, it was my first job, it put cash in my pocket for when I was unemployed. I know that's ranting, but my point is when I make my resume, I always put my experiences as a Newsie, because I truly am grateful for having a job when others were screwed by the pandemic
