Oh wow haha, that’s very interesting. Yes I wonder if it’s just overlooked for you all 😂 Thanks Calby, Paul and Ian! And yes Paul, use the Platinum as a tag 😂
You have an interesting take on it. I've been thinking about adding the Delta Reserve to my setup and cancelling my platinum card. I only use my platinum card to book flights. Since I normally fly Delta, it kinda makes sense to get the Delta Reserve card. I'll wait around for an elevated sign up bonus and see what I think.
It seems to be a real possibility right?? I kept thinking about it and just said, let me just make a video on it haha. Let me know if you ever do, I’d love to see if it seamlessly replaces your Platinum in the future! Thanks Musical Aspie!
I have the reserve and platinum and with $1k in annual fees I still get more real value from it that I think I would get from just the Platinum. Permanent silver status, the lounge access and the two companion passes are so much more worthwhile than the Platinum coupon book. Delta is probably the best airline to be loyal to. It has the fewest delays and most on time flights out of any airline and has the best in flight experience of any domestic airline. Plus they are very generous with upgrades, if they can upgrade you they will, all you have to do is request it when you buy the ticket or ask before they start boarding.
This is good to know. I currently have the Amex Plat, Amex gold, and Delta plat but have been considering switching to just the delta duo. Some things like hotel status are perks I feel like I would miss, but then again I don’t use them that often to begin with. I also like booking flights with my Amex platinum cause I get 5x back in MR (which I transfer to delta) and then 5x via sky miles so essentially it’s like 10x back. But I know with the Reserve I’d get 3x and then get silver status so I think it goes up to 6x miles in delta right? Ugh, decisions decisions!!
Booked a few award flights before just getting the Reserve. I forgot your need to actually book the flight with the card; hopefully that’s not for skyclub too
I believe not for the Skyclub, I believe you just need to show your boarding pass and Reserve card and youll have access, just like the Platinum. Thanks for being here What’s The Points!
I have used Delta stays before. It wasn’t fancy but it was in our budget and we had a good time in Maui. I like to balance a vacation with luxury and affordable. We spent the first 3 nights at the Royal Hawaiian with free night certificates then what I believe was a time share in Maui. This was before the cards gave you a credit. Unfortunately i had already booked and paid for this years Hawaii trip when all the changes took place. Looked at canceling and rebooking but the prices had gone up. I have two Delta cards with credits to figure out this year. May have to take a staycation
That’s how I’ve felt too, can be fancy, but usually right down the middle to use the credit effectively really. That still seems like an awesome vacation, even if the credits could help then, that sucks. Absolutely! Check around your area, I bet you can find some eclectic middle of the road stays to use the credit on for sure! Thanks Liene for being here!!
Great video. I live in Miami so AA hub. Delta is my backup. Would only consider Delta Business Platinum to stay under 5/24 and free companion certificate for Caribbean and Central America. However doesn't replace Amex Platinum and Gold as duo
Ahh makes sense. Yes I think for folks like yourself, that companion on the Platinum can be very valuable amongst other things. But yep, just that alone probably can’t replace the traditional setup for sure! Thank you sir Juan from the MIA!
Im considering adding Delta card sometime in the near future as I'll be near a hub and I typically fly domestic with them anyways. I still prefer MR points for the value and flexibility over Skymiles though, but for a loyalist they can def be a plus.
At least the Delta Gold Business I think is a decently easy keeper, but like you said, a lot of this setup, in fact most of this setup depends on if you like delta and I guess are near hubs for sure. Thanks Darius, agreed on flexible currency too!
Silver status isn’t bad at all. I’m silver and I fly monthly. Several times from DTW to PHX and to SEA I get upgraded to first class several times a year and to comfort plus each month I fly. If my Amex Platinum goes up to 1k per year I’m switching over to the Delta setup. I already have the Delta Plat.
Seems like so many people get upgraded with silver, is actually crazy how often it happens it seems. Now I want silver 😂 Yep I’m with you on if it goes to $1k, I’d probably cancel and got for the Delta route. Thanks IBdam, I’m with you!
I like Delta and have a Delta biz card. but even with credits or perks being potentially lopsided to Delta would be the flexibility Amex points provides
I personally still love the flexibility that comes with flexible MR Points with the Platty & Gold. With that said though, I'm also biased because I don't live near a Delta Hub & don't fly Delta often, but can definitely see why if your a Delta loyalist, the benefits on the Reserve & Platinum with Delta just make a lot of sense. The Delta BIZ cards may be a bit of a sweet spot as well like you mentioned, especially if you are being conscious about your Credit Profile & 5/24 Status. Great video as always Anthony!
For sure! And I think a lot of people prefer that flexibility too. Yeah I see that, I personally live next to a hub so it works, but that’s a major point to folks to consider first. Yeahhh man, those Business cards are interesting for sure! Thank you sir Matt for being here!

Ohhh very nice, so wait, corporate status match gives you 7500 MQDs? So then the Personal Platinum gets you to Platinum or how does that work? Thanks Zenichiro!
Delta just got revamped - be on the lookout for non co-branded refreshes this year. As someone who flies in/out of DTW 2x a month, the delta cards would be keepers IF the bogo wasnt so hard to use. I give my producer a BOGO credit and its hard to find eligible flights if you dont book super early - you can’t wait for a sale cause they’re gone before sale hits. So no full value credit to the bogo. I use to have to spend 25k to get status waiver - now its like Amex Plat - only spend to burn credits. I’d gladly pay an extra $350 for a second bogo and not have to spend 25k on a delta card to get silver.
Yep that’s exactly what I’m thinking too, who knows what’s to come on the traditional side 😬 But seems like easy value for you, and for sure you know you have a couple of years before another refresh is due etc. Same can’t be said on the Platinum and Gold. Thanks Chad for being here man, good points all around!
Also, Amex just announced that one can get a Delta Reserve card with a limited-edition Boeing 747 design made from two retired Delta Air Lines Boeing 747 aircraft.
If your a Hub? Other Amex cards yet to be refreshed . Where I live, the most flights would be United and American. Why I added the United cards. Amex doesn't have the anti portal people that chase has
Very true, having Delta as a hub is huge. Nice Bill! Oh interesting, so you think the Amex people don’t rag on the portal as much as Chase folks? Thanks Bill for being here man!
I fly out of Detroit a Delta hub. I get a lot of value out of the Delta platinum. I multiply my value by using the skymiles dining and skymiles shopping platforms. Would you do a video about those platforms?
That’s awesome! Yes absolutely I will, I just started familiarizing myself with those shopping portals, problem is I never need to use them since I literally buy nothing but groceries 99% of the time. Otherwise I’d already have experience probably, but as I get more info, I can add that in for sure, they are super valuable! Thank you for mentioning this as well Magical Day! Thanks for being here!
you can actually stack both peronal and business versions of Amex Delta Platinum and Reserve, but you need to spend $2k on AF. However this is an another way to access lounges. Basically, those MQD headstarts can be stacked up so you end up having 10k MQD at the beginning of every year which also automatically gives you Delta Medallion Gold status. The Gold status also gives you SkyTeam Elite Plus status and you can access to any participated SkyTeam lounges other than Delta's own Sky Club when flying a SkyTeam member flight. Not all SkyTeam lounges are priority pass lounges which makes these lounges less likely crowded.
Yes very very true. But I just wonder, why go through all of that when just 1 Delta Reserve can get you access to these lounges + centurion? Just in the amounts of times maybe? Thanks Zsm!!
@@AnthonyVenture only the Reserve cards wont get you that far apart from Sky Clubs and Centurion Lounges, its the additonal lounge access from airlines within Skyteam that the Delta Gold status brings when you can stack all four cards
@@AnthonyVenture SkyTeam member airline lounges like Air France, KLM, Korean Air etc. This is SkyTeam Elite Plus status offers which you can get it from the Delta Gold status
I would argue that you'd get more value at some of the lower-tier Medallion statuses being AWAY from a Delta hub, because you would be more likely to get D1 or FC upgrades
I'd probably pursue this trifecta if Skymiles had higher upside for flights to/from the US. With that said, very compelling, especially for Delta loyalists. Great stuff Anthony!
Gawd damn Gemini haha, see they always come in and say they are military, why not just have a 5 Platinum, 4 Aspire, 3 Ritz, 2 Reserves and 1 Venture X setup 😂😂😂 But for sure, that’s a good setup nonetheless. Thanks Gemini and Calby ha!
Nope! Doesn't make sense, at least not for me. I almost never take a rideshare unless I'm on a trip. There are not Resy restaurants near my home, so that won't work. I like the companion certificates, but you can't book a flight on points and add the companion (you have to pay cash to use your companion certificate). Which makes me think that I might end up paying more for the flight just so I can use the companion pass than I otherwise might have. The Delta Stays credit is the only one I can confidently say I'd use every year, but that means I'd be paying too much to have this card. I might get the Delta Gold. I think the Delta Stays credit helps to justify that card. It totally pays for itself with 1 free bag and 1 Delta stays night. The Amex Gold makes sense for us because we enjoy eating out and can use its credits consistently each month. We also spend the most on groceries out of our normal spending categories. The Amex Platinum doesn't make sense to us, either. It's too expensive and we wouldn't use the credits. We have the Capital One Venture X, which gives us much more flexibility, base 2x earnings, and airport lounges. I loved the Capital One lounge in DEN! It was way less crowded than the Delta Skyclubs or Centurion Lounges I've been to ( I used to have the Business Platinum).
Absolutely all amazing points and totally agreed on all fronts, some places don’t have cheap, or even Resy places at all. I bet people overspend a bit on the companion certificate too. I think the Gold is an easy keeper honestly, especially the business version since you get $150 delta stays, and it’s just a $150 annual fee the second year. Great points all around on delta + traditional gold/platinum, completely agreed Dallin! That’s interesting on the Capital One lounge, I hope it stays that way haha. Thanks for being here Dallin!

Yep that’s exactly what I’m thinking too, who knows what’s to come on the traditional side 😬
But seems like easy value for you, and for sure you know you have a couple of years before another refresh is due etc. Same can’t be said on the Platinum and Gold.
Thanks Chad for being here man, good points all around!
Also, Amex just announced that one can get a Delta Reserve card with a limited-edition Boeing 747 design made from two retired Delta Air Lines Boeing 747 aircraft.
Yep I heard that! I like the black version better haha, what do you think?
Thanks Bruce for that!
I fly Delta but not up to this point, my skymiles gold works just fine 🤙🏼
SkyMiles gold seems to be an easy keeper for sure Bryan! Agreed, and thanks for being here!
@@AnthonyVentureI'd love to see this video as well 🙏
you can actually stack both peronal and business versions of Amex Delta Platinum and Reserve, but you need to spend $2k on AF.
Ahh I see, so wait, what other lounges do you have access to? You mentioned skyteam lounges but do they have their own names?
@@AnthonyVenture SkyTeam member airline lounges like Air France, KLM, Korean Air etc. This is SkyTeam Elite Plus status offers which you can get it from the Delta Gold status
Gotcha gotcha. Good to know, I’d like to see how those are because you’re right, high annual fees but if the lounges are powerful, could be worth it.
Gold card killer?! I’m in!
Hahaha Key 🔑 is always looking for a way to destroy that Gold 😂
Another content idea, is the Delta card even more valuable if you fly out of a Delta hub as your home airport
Yes good idea for sure! And short answer is absolutely hahaha, good point thought. Thanks It’s a Magical Day!
I would argue that you'd get more value at some of the lower-tier Medallion statuses being AWAY from a Delta hub, because you would be more likely to get D1 or FC upgrades
@jkpfmt exactly. Because near a delta hub, more people have that same status as you.

@@AnthonyVenturelet me know if you’re ever in upstate New York! Rochester, Buffalo, etc 😅
Nah. Priority Pass is very helpful in many of my airports and abroad.
Yeah I hear that, and for sure agreed, more plentiful for sure.
Thanks Ronnie!
I'd probably pursue this trifecta if Skymiles had higher upside for flights to/from the US. With that said, very compelling, especially for Delta loyalists. Great stuff Anthony!
Yeahhhh I hear that, international has never been great for redemptions w/ Delta for sure, that’s a good differentiator.
Thanks Monty man!!
Not an Amex Trifecta killer in my opinion but interesting.
For sure! I kept thinking about it and was wondering what the people thought haha.
Thanks John!

Thank you sir Calby!! 🫡
Naw bro this ain’t it.
Platinum, Aspire, CSR, BOA PRE and US Bank, best set up available
Oh my; that’s all the fees 😅
@@CalbyNg i joined the military JUSTTT to get my fees waived 😂
@@DCGEMINI202 Ohhhh that’s a pro gamer move right there; that’s awesome!
@@CalbyNg 😂😂😂
Gawd damn Gemini haha, see they always come in and say they are military, why not just have a 5 Platinum, 4 Aspire, 3 Ritz, 2 Reserves and 1 Venture X setup 😂😂😂
But for sure, that’s a good setup nonetheless.
I don't even have to watch the video to know that the answer is no.
Is your answer any different now Matt?
I don’t fly Delta enough but interesting setup and strategy Anthony! Thanks for the info!🫵
Thank you sir Cesar! I actually was wondering what you’d say about this before uploading haha.
