My father was also a carpenter, amongst a few other trades, like he built the kitchen’s table set, cabinets, lockers. And he had some of these tools, so it’s good memories coming to my mind.

That sizable piece of bloodwood is very expensive! While your pen project turned out beautifully, you could have been more careful as to how you utilized it (not a criticism) by cutting the stock into smaller yet lathe-able pieces. Best wishes and good health my friend.
Looked to me that Mr Z cut it in such a way as to have 2 attempts at the complete set. Meaning four pieces, but that may be just my impression. I could totally be wrong.
Not that I am a fountain pen fan, but good ones can be passed down through generations. Plastic disposable biros, not so much. Also, while I don't want any more tropical forest cut to support my crafts, I have various pieces of wood that were acquired twenty years ago and expect others have similar or greater stashes which should be used for special projects at some point.
That wood is gorgeous! The blocks look like ingots from Skyrim. I like it.
That red sandalwood per kilogram goes for 1000 dollar or more depending on tge quality, origin india

This pen is suitable for signature, not suitable for a large number of writing, ornamental than practical
