    While in London I went to this Shul for about 3 months. I felt welcomed and enjoyed myself. Thank you very much.

    I love the service. My ancestors came from the Sephardic roots. How wonderful to be present even by the Internet. Thank you TH-cam for this and to my dearest Sephardic family. B"H

    I like the concentration and dedication of the congregation. They all seem to be in real prayer. B"H

    Nothing Sephardi here- Lithuanian style clothes, rocking back and forth as is typical in Ashkenazi style prayer. Identification with Haredi culture- another Ashkenazi identity. Sephardi Jews had deep ties to the surrounding culture and secular education including philosophy, science and literature. Even in the comments institutional Ashkenazi words are used to describe Sephardi Judaism such as "shul". There is only one Yeshiba in Israel that teaches Talmud the Sephardi way. This Synagogue is part of the switch from non-denominational Sephardi Judaism to Ashkenazi orthodox. An Israeli movie "The Women's Balcony" shows this transformation very well.

      It doesn’t matter. Many sfaradim are like these people and the hats happen to be an interpretation and custom that the litvaks and chassidim invented. Many Yemenite jews these days for example follow rambam chassidic custom or breslov (Rabi Nachman). The world stands on 3 pillars. Prayer, acts of kindness, and Torah. So if we divide ourselves and look for the differences in prayer and we say “oh this is not Sephardic, sefard, ashkenazi, Yemeni, Moroccan, etc.” ; then us being the Jewish people will destroy this world even...

      What's the big deal? The vast majority of Sephardim outside of Israel live in The West, where the dominant culture/communities are Ashkenazi, so it is only natural that Sephardim will gradually adopt various Ashkenazi characteristics. I can bet you've adopted a mode of dressing/culture different to where your forebears came from. You speak of it like it is a crime. What would you like us to do?..walk around wearing Iraqi turbans and Moroccan fezzes? Move with the times!

      I have suggested to Sephardi Rabbanim that they should have Galabayas and Fez's on hooks as one enters the Synagogue which people can put on for prayers and thereby pray in traditional Arab/Sephardi clothing, but they didn't believe the community would be interested in wearing such clothing.

      In addition, I have testimony from Egyptian Jews that they would rock from side to side in a twisting motion rather than back and forth when praying, so it's not so alien to do for Sephardim.

    • @ArnoldAaron
      @ArnoldAaron  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. Can you prove that on your mother's side (always going through the line of the mother, mother's-mother etc.. and only the mother's line, never the father) that one of your ancestors was Jewish? If that is the case then you are Jewish! Feel free to come back to me if you have more questions.
