One of the Elders that taught me the gospel in 1997 is from Pocatello, Idaho!
(Congratulations, Elder Snyder!!! I'm so happy for you! ❤❤❤)

I felt good watching this... the support from different faith is amazing. Indeed though there are differences in doctrines, they are not nearly as important as those common things that unit us.

God lives outside of time, so he's probably smiling forever, but that's besides the point. 😀 ps - you're really a ninja? gasp face.

The Pocatello area saints have been waiting a very long time for a Temple. That community certainly needs it.

I was fortunate enough to attend the groundbreaking service for my hometown Temple. The Spirit and Unity felt that day is something I’ll cherish forever.

I was in this video 👍, I was having a spiritual nap in seminary while they were watching this video, and they woke me up to see that I was in the video. It was a fantastic groundbreaking. The first time I’ve been to one. 😁

I love that they even showed an image of a lady passing out anti-Mormon propaganda. But that was followed by a minister praising God and wanting to thank god we could all come together for this wonderful event InThe lives of Latter-day Saints.

Founded in 1889, Pocatello was known as the "Gateway to the Northwest" to pioneers, gold miners and settlers traveling the Oregon Trail. The name "Pocatello" is named after the Shoshone Tribe chief of the same name who granted the Union Pacific railroad a right-of-way through the Fort Hall Indian Reservation.

sixth temple in the state, 15th in the Pacific Northwest, and the 270th temple in the world. When it is finished the saints in the area known as Pocatello Yards will use it for their daily worship. This temple is needed Pocatello's mission district is the largest in Idaho but they don't have a temple until now. Before Pocatello broke ground saints had a choice of over four temples in the area and right now those temples are overloaded and one is undergoing maintenance, one is being reactivated after it was rebuilt, one just got dedicated and is now overloaded, and one has been in operation for a decade and is now overloaded because students use it every day. Before Pocatello broke ground in the 1950s the closest temple was Idaho Falls now Idaho Falls has been reactivated but it is now overloaded we will need another one. Before Idaho Falls Logan was the closest Logan has had its final session and in March it will be deactivated to begin four years of construction. Afton is a new one but quickly it became full with Idaho Falls overflow and the drive is too long saints need a better alternative to Afton. Rexburg is on a collage campus but since Idaho Falls reopened Rexburg is loaded with collage students who go here each day for worship and getting a slot is next to impossible. This is why Pocatello is needed it fills the gap and allows the mission district to manage its own temple ordinances instead of making the long trip to the other four temples in the area.

Looks like a great day but why are we so concerned with the approval from people of other faiths?! I couldn't care less if they agree or support what we do

Its always very nice for those of other faiths to approve or appreciate what we do. But no matter what, Temple building will continue and the gospel will roll forth.

It's not about approval, it's about love. We love our fellow brothers and sisters of all faiths and want to include them in our lives. As we hope they will include us in theirs.

I think we are seeking approval from the Lord. He has asked us to do good, to love our neighbors, and to prepare for His coming. There are good people in every faith that will meet the Lord with joy. So glad we can have a taste of that joy now, break down those walls now.

@@meganriley3814 What walls? This was about why we are so concerned with the approval of others. Doing good and loving our neighbors and preparing for His coming is exactly what we are doing...however... by having zero interest in what ours think is far from putting walls up.
