- Full cycle of a recent acquisition: a 1967 Stampco Fluid Drive automatic washing machine. Quite unique in that they were only ever made and sold in Victoria Australia. It was part of an estate sale and had still been sitting in the laundry not used for many years. Apart from a couple of issues (leaking hoses and new water valve), the machine runs well. It is similar to a US Maytag AMP in that it has a perforated inner bowl bolted to a solid bowl to permit the overflow rinses you see in the video.
Specifications: Agitation: 72 OPM on Normal and 600 RPM spin speed.

Why are old washers so better and clean better it looks so cool
Simple, we didn't have the BS ESG.
Very quiet for 1967.
Thank you for allowing me to relive some of my earliest employment memories. I started work believing the A08 and the 1490N were the greatest achievements of mankind. I know, a sheltered childhood. Your postings are amazing. As a child I was taken to the Simpson family Christmas parties at West Ryde then later went on to work at Belmore under George Crawford and Stan Regan, even got to meet Moxam Simpson. Please post more.
Hi Miclott, I'd be interested in chatting to you personally. Check out my website here: leonsclassicappliances.com.au/
I definitely thought there would be more rollover with this agitator also. I've seen some archive pictures of the interior and that agitator certainly looks like no slouch.
It looks good to me.
Oh this is nice .
Very nice. So this is actually a solid tub ? Cool.
Pretty much it is, yes
This washer's agitation action is quite like the old G.E. filter flo. Is your Maytag model number 906 washer up and working? I'd like to see a video of it please. Thank you.
That reminds of a Norge
The first spin was fun
Just a little out of balance, but it handled it pretty well
This washing machine sounds like a maytag dependable care motor
I want one
Very entertaining.
Do you still have the Sears Kenmore washer?
Was this manufactured by any American company such as speed queen?
Possibly.....but couldn't tell you who. Possibly Apex.
Any idea when it would've been taken out of service?
No sorry.
All i know is the place where it was in was like a time warp apparently. I think it had not been used for some years.
What does fluid drive mean
Fluid drive refers to the clutch attached to the motor which transfers power from the motor to the tub during spin. Think of it like the torque converter from an automatic gearbox.
Was this one of the first washers to top up in the rince
Do you mean 'overflow'?
