I've only ever replaced strings on my 3 guitars maybe a dozen times total, but I've only been playing for 2.5 years. WAY easier than whatever the hell I was doing.
I have been so scared to restring my guitars and let me tell you this was one of the most helpful videos ever! It’s like 100x easier to follow than the fender official video.
I have always been terrified to change my strings, but you explain it really well and I can see it's not so complicated if done correctly. I feel brave enough to try it now. Thanks for this video!
thank you so much for the tutorial, because of being paranoid about somehow breaking my guitar i didn't change the strings ever since i bought it 6 months ago! now I changed them no problem and the guitar sounds so much better :) Stay safe! 💫
Thank you so much. My grandpa had always cared for me and do anything for me so not being able to adjust his guitar was like hell for me. We tried to figure it out but couldn’t, but your video really saved us, thanks a lot man
Thank you for this! I'm a beginner with my first used guitar. The strings you showed in your video worked great too. Especially when I screwed up the first attempt and had to order more 😅 I really need to get that tuner wrench. It was tough without it.
We're talking about the same thing - just worded differently! When I say "the excess needs to be under first, then over", it's the same as the first wind of the string itself being over, then under the excess. Apologies for any confusion!
@@ConorRocksYT so basically when i first put the string in the tuner i let the first wind go under then i push the string down and let the other winds go over?
@@rinokurin4837 other way around! The first wind should go over the excess of the string, and the rest should be underneath it, working down the tuning post
Sorry to hear that, Jennica! 🙁 Where abouts did the string snap? If it helps, I've got a video on some common things that can cause strings to snap: th-cam.com/video/C1w_ivCKk2o/w-d-xo.html
Okay. I tried changing my strings myself. For some dumb reason, when I wind to tighten them...they get loose. Is it something I'm doing wrong, or is there something with the tuners? Also, the pencil trick is something I've never seen. That's clever
I’m ngl maybe it’s because I have a squier strat idk but I can only reason turn tie the string around maybe just 1 1/2 rotations before I have to stop or else it’ll just break this like the 3rd time this week I changed my strings first two times because I wound it too much to where it broke off
Sorry to hear that! Can I check - are you giving yourself enough excess by pulling the string back before winding it (like at 1:29). Also, is it snapping in the same place?
For broke guys who have only 1 pack of strings and can’t get more at the moment, don’t cut old strings in half. Remove them by down-tuning. Put new strings : you never know if one will pop at the process
I'm so upset I saw this video and it looked simple enough so I took my old E string out and went to replace it with super slinky's, when I put it through the tuners I don't get what to do, my tuners slipped and bit the end of my string off so now it's too short and no good :( please help me someone, I've ordered replacements just because of that one string. I can't get the original back on either
It could be a couple of things, but they're all easy to fix! I've got a video here explaining what's causing it: th-cam.com/video/QvHlt2qhbzI/w-d-xo.html

I just broke two of my low strings
Just replaced strings on my guitar for the first time. Thank you so much

very off topic but THE GHOST SHIRT IS AMAZING!!
💀🤘
Thank you! I just did my first (long overdue) string change and this really helped
3:11 Your E string should be under the string tree to give the correct break angle, right? 😉
You're right, good eye! 😊
Thanks man
My string broke wrapped around my arm and left red marks and lumps on the 7th step lol
oooh ghost shirt cool
Thank you! Papa bless 💀🤘
You sure the first wind is under and the rest are over?
mostly any other source i’ve seen says the first one is over and the rest are under.

@@ConorRocksYT ooh alright i understand now, basically i just have to follow your video and i’m good to go
@@rinokurin4837 that's the one! 😄
Can you do just one if one is broken or do u have to change them all?
You can just do one! But, I recommend if they've been on there a while and one breaks, then I'd change the set 😊
Thank you.
Haven't changed strings on my guitar for like 20 years or so. Guess the time has come
Tried my best to follow your instructions but ended up snapping the new string :(

Hey Reuben, sorry to hear that - just checking - did the string get cut too short? As a tip, you should be able to buy single string replacements!
I might be doing something wrong but my strings aren’t coming out of the back. Only one came out with ease, I can’t get the others out though
Nevermind I fixed it, thanks for the tutorial though! It really helped
No worries! If it happens again you can try either removing the backplate, or using a whammy bar to jiggle the bridge!
My electric guitar strings are buzzing what do i dl

@@ConorRocksYT I don't think it's that. Because I think it's more of a tuning problem and I don't know how I feel about breaking another strong again
What's your guitar tuned to - and what gauge strings are you using?
Hi, what's the background music?
Pls.. I watched this video 10+ times just cos I love the music even though I don't have a guitar 😂
Hey - it's stock music on the software I use, but it's called "Fly Shroom" by Giants' Nest 😊

@@ConorRocksYT i was watching your video again hahahahaa
@@yj7000 No worries! 😄
String just blew the fuck up on me.
What happens if your guitar has neither of those bridges tho?
Which type of bridge do you have?
I've been playing the guitar for many years now and I still mess up the restringing process every single time. I'm so incapable lol
It happens! I managed to swap my B and E strings round a few weeks back 🤷
Not helping at all
