i could be wrong about this, but i think leather will outlive any other wrap material. it could dry out, but then it's a simple matter of treating it with mink oil. if it's neglected then it would have to be removed and submerged in water for a while, but you won't let it come to that. NICE BLADES, THO!
Wow, they've really improved their fit and finish, l had one when they were still known as Byzer, blade was solid but it was very poorly put together lol. Also yeah, for katana iron fittings are always better because the extra weight just makes the overall balance much better.
Just because it’s sporting a hamon doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to preform “less” than a through hardened blade. If it’s a well made sword then the “beating” it would sustain would be negligible to the through hardened blade. A bigger concern would be bad welds on pattern welded blades and small cracks or wrong temp in the heat treat on “diff hardened “. My opinion of course lol
Yeah I Still Got Some Learnin To Do I Appreciate The Info Soi🙏🏽 I Hear Most Cases It Just Depends On How Well The Metal Is Forged Yeah Some Steel May Be Better Though It Doesn’t Mean Much When A Blade Is Poorly Made
@@XVIINFINITE You are correct, the steel being used, is it oil or water quench. Ya buddy there is a lot to it , but the journey is rewarding. I have been studying martial arts since 1984 and I learn everyday. And I forge my own blades from top to bottom and still don’t feel comfortable calling myself a swordsmith . I have seen it so many times that the sword you like the best in theory, is not the one you choose as your fave!
@aaronmatheson9730 That’s A Lot Of Time For Studying For Sure And It’s Pretty Cool That You Can Make Your Own Blades As Well You’re More Of A Swordsmith Than Most People Smithing Seems Like There’s More To It Than It Looks On The Outside
That's definitely a quality katana. The same way people use lacquer on cloth ito, you can use Resolene to treat leather ito. It protects from water and UV. I actually have a Cloudhammer and have used Resolene on it and it worked great. It'll just make the tsuka wrap a little firmer, the same as lacquer does.
I Hear It’s Pretty Much Legal Everywhere In The US But All States Have Different Laws On Carrying It In Public In Texas I’m Able To Carry It In Public Since I’m Older Than 18 I Can’t Carry It In All Places Of Course But When I Can Then I Would
What is bro doing outside with a sword 💀🙏 Oh yeah also it’s not worth buying mini katana swords, Recently there has been a lot of poor quality and un checked quality control swords. A lot of people get their swords ( both display and high carbon steel blades ) bent or even chipped. The reason for this issue is poor quality control and the blades are extremely mass produced Which leads to some fittings not fitting on the blade causing damage to it. And the containers That they ship with hundreds of blades causes some scabbards to get damaged and have indents.
I Pretty Much Stopped Buying From Them Now I’d Like To Stay Away From Mass Produced Katanas Because Yeah Their Quality Is Basic At Most And Possibly Come With Issues I’d Use The Extra Cash For Quality
