If I was a rich classic car buff I would have one of these in an instant. Bang on the miles in style and don't worry about depreciating one of your million quid Ferrari, Astons or indeed Jags. It is truly stunning and will be a LOT more reliable, faster and better to drive than the original version. Also, I don't think that this carries the stigma of a 'kit car'. It's WAY more than that and is probably much better built than the original ever was.
Doubt it on the later part. 50s cars were a proper built ones. Hell any original 3.4 jaguar engine won't be so wonky to start as this one was. Always on the button.
Lovely video, thanks Harry! Looks like the sort of car you'd go out of your way to plan special trips and adventures with. Thought you captured the spirit perfectly
God sake, it's so beautifull and so great, I love this kind of brand that remake good cars like that, fun, simple... and not so expensive. Reaaaaly nice
I know that road well - the B4560 between Garnlydan (above Ebbw Vale) across to Llangynidr, or take a sharp right down to Crickhowell. It gets used quite frequently by all the motoring shows, and on a fine day it's got brilliant views and there's no finer place to be in a quickish soft-top car. Drive carefully though - there have sadly been fatalities in the recent past.
The car is gorgeous. But surely they could have given the engine a set of polished cam covers? The late model grooved ones spoil the under-bonnet appearance
xkss for me pls! Henry is a great presenter - He would be perfect as a James May replacement for the New Top Gear - I suggest: Chris Harris, Henry Catchpole, Jethro Bov. and Rory whatsit who is doing fine, with guest appearances by the German woman.
One small problem. Jaguar made hundreds of thousands of XK engines for road cars, almost the same as the '50s race engines. Ferrari didn't make the 3 litre V12 after 1964
I watched this company grow from 1982 when they was called copycats, they later changed their name to Proteus in 1987. These were not your flimsy fibreglass kits cars, they were handmade and handbuilt. The owner and creator of the company was called Jim Marland, and they were based in Little Lever just outside of Bolton in Lancashire,in Albert street. I was born at 5&7 Albert st in 1964 so was 18 when they started up. My late father spent many hours with Jim,and they used to go over to Belmont for the test drives when each vehicle was finished and ready to be sold. Now exactly 50 years on they have grown in value and rightly so,as they are 100% quality vehicles from the ground up.
very beautiful car...i wish cars like that are in the $20-25k range only.....i dont mind if the body is fiberglass or the engine is toyota....i just like the shape to be like that :D
Lovely car, but can't get over the stigma of a replica. Not that this is a problem for me now as this car is well beyond my means! Still, I get the impression that this is either bought by people who have the original but don't want to risk it on the public road or by those who want the original but can't afford it and don't care about it being a replica. Either way it's a lovely thing.
Just curious - how do cars like these get around modern safety regulations, are they still considered to be the original car in the eyes of the law or are they exempt for some reason?
Head over to my channel to see my C type and my trip collecting it from Hofmann's after having some work carried out. Plus many more adventures including track days!
Quite nice, but I wouldn't buy. This is an homage at best, part of the c type experience, I imagine, is it's faults, the totally different way it has to be driven vs the more modern stuff. For 130k I would prefer a 620r or a morgan or even a carbed lotus 7, at least they are what they are.
@@nickamarit I wouldn’t know I’m not a race car engineer but I’ve seen GM talking about the fact that wide super car tires are for marketing and show and actually make their performance worse. Admittedly there is a jump between these and wide super care tires but the point being that bigger doesn’t always mean better
@@eddiel7635 I said wider, not widest. You can clearly see how the car cannot put down power properly. For its 1 ton weight, even a normal Summer road tire would be plenty. Perhaps a 225-45-17 or something like that; not the skinny motorcycle tires it has on now.

It's no kit car its factory built! Head over to my channel where we 'bang' endless miles onto our C type!
Fully agreed!!!
Totally agree

Beautiful car! I love these "modern" recreated oldschool sports cars.
Now that's a proper sports car. 50 years from now, it will still be a timeless piece of art.
Lovely video, thanks Harry! Looks like the sort of car you'd go out of your way to plan special trips and adventures with. Thought you captured the spirit perfectly
What a beauty!
The roar of that Straight-Six.........make me feel many pant feels!
beautiful. i love theese modern recreations of old masterpieces.
Cool type of videos! Love that you show this car! I was waiting for it! What a sound makes that 4.2! Thanks

WOW! How cool is this ? This is what cars are suppose to be. Love to have one when I win the lottery. Outstanding Proteus!!!
What a beautiful car don't need a radio you got the soundtrack from that lovely engine I would have this than a modern car

This is an object of beauty. I hope to see one on the road some day.

True retro wheels right there, everyone needs a Jaguar...!
Please recreate a 250 California like this.
yes please
One small problem. Jaguar made hundreds of thousands of XK engines for road cars, almost the same as the '50s race engines. Ferrari didn't make the 3 litre V12 after 1964
A little more tire! Sounds wicked!
Imagine, an A/C Ace, from Proteus?

Glorious. Glorious car and glorious report. This is why I don't need Top Gear...
My favourite Jaguar sports car, and yes that includes the E-Type....
One billion thumbs up to my opinion ! Amazing car in an amazing landscape
Hand built beautiful looking Classic cars what we do best '
Best of British ' pride
Stunning!

Absolute Beauty!
Nice old Jag, but if this kind of car flips over...
Tip is don't roll it! Check out my channel!
think iv gone a bit moist in the trouser area.
that proteus is stunning.
Alf speeder.
Magnificent.
So sensuous. A dream.

Is it available with left side steering?
My favourite of theirs is the Mercedes 300 SLR
They make other models too?
1:25 you'll see a pontoon fender Testarossa
Great video.
Perfect.
The rear of the car is the best part

I believe companies that makes less than a certain quantity of vehicles per year, they can get away with it
This, a singer, and a Alfaholics gta r, with maybe a huracan perf as the daily 👌🏻
nice!
Can you do more on the company
YES!!! why dond comapnoes make old fashioned cars?
so it's about as quick and as fast as a modern sports car.
Head over to my channel to see my C type and my trip collecting it from Hofmann's after having some work carried out. Plus many more adventures including track days!
Another few years and they'll be able to print them off!
Why is there a door on the left side? My C-Type has only one door on the right side.
because it has 2 seats...
I would have to have a cage for the way I plan on driving it.
what about the d type though?
Name still trademarked by Jaguar I believe
Tanner Pat idk but a replica/restomod would be cool either way
+Bart Van Riel yeah, I'd drive that
Tanner Pat me too if I had the money
+Bart Van Riel If I had my drivers license :/
In want of more, felt too short. Could you make a separate vid, just the onboard without voice, only sound and view ahead, please?
Head over to my channel if you want to see more on C types, I have endless C type content already posted and coming!

Testarossa shell!
I understand the need for heritage, but this car could use wider tires!!!
Not according to Gordon Murray who knows a few things
@@eddiel7635 How would wider tires be any worse tho?

Good point but maybe they want the car to feel very similar to the original cars.
I WHAT ONE
What feline sexy car!
Nasty wannabe. 130 grand would buy so much better than this kit car.
lol...lol.... feeling a wee bit jealous maybe..... ?????
Too bad it looks hideous. You should recreate a Porsche
You must be in the 'market' for a '53 Corvetti?
'Hideous'... Really? I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong 😉
