Whoa! That was a really hard crosswind, and landing! It would also be very scary to be inside that aircraft considering that it banked to the left after flaring! Brilliant camera work, my friend!
crazy, and it would be hard to tell without this video how much stress on the body it would have been, i guess at that point they would only check the outside of the body and gear
Looking from my arm chair. It's looked like a normal cross wind approach. He just got an unlucky in the last few feet, which you can not do much about it. Job well done anyway.
The stress on that fuselage must've been enormous. I wonder how much stress the planes can take before cracks appear or worse, before the fuselage splits.
Unfortunately, the airframe did suffer the consequences of this hard landing and is now out of service for quite a few weeks. At least one set of the undercarriage has been damaged and will have to be replaced. Wings and engine pylons are being checked for cracks. Easy to say, but maybe a go around was prudent.
Where is no way for heavy plane to such significant reduce its angle of attack by natural reasons (In case of windshear it will fall down with the same angle). Looks like intended push down of sidestick (to avoid long landing distance). So, it seems like a PF's serious mistake.
airbus normal law states that during landing mode the flight controls will automatically pitch down the aircraft for landing. So inevitably the FC itself could had caused hard landings? In heavy crosswind condition when the pilots are busy following centerline the computers had to throw in a troll?
What a sweeping and unthought argument. Pat is right; it is very obvious that it was a downwind and strong series of gusts. How can you do a "go round" thingy in that situation?
Nope, no way. It is clearly visible that there was a very strong and unpredictable wind gust from the right side of the aircraft. Trying a go-around in those conditions could have ended in a potential crash (due to inertia, the aircraft would still have come down but some meters later, which could have meant that the touchdown could have took place near the runway, on soft earth. At that speed, the landing gear would have collapsed, the engines would have hit the ground and the risk of fire and explosion would have become tremendously great.
pdmmdk slow speed, he received a wind gust, the airplane slows down even more, after the gust he would be on a stall, going full throttle even if work would take few seconds till he could gain speed (turbine take time to develop thrust), and at stall and close to ground its not a good idea! the pilot just take the correct action for the situation.
Ok someone help me out here, look at the first landing, the entire body of the plane flexes, no not just the wing, but the fusalage! This plane must have been damaged? Did they do an entire C, D check with x-rays??
Yes, it can get a little tricky. On an average, every 4th airplane crashes, you only need to plan that you are not in that one. Just kidding, of course :-) I have landed there last year, I can assure you that you have 99% chances to not even feel that you have landed. :-) Have a safe flight and enjoy the sakura! :-)
All this people who critic the pilot ^^ the lh Crews are perfect trained they know what they are doing and if they need to goaround they would do it.. I dont think some hobby mircosoft pilots are able to know what really happend and how to handle it ^^
its not landing of D-AIHT (which is grounded for weeks due to gear damage) as given in the information, you clearly see the registration number D-AIHR on the aircraft fuselage at 1:05. Wrong landing, friend.
The accident report stated that the right main gear is going to be replaced and the entire aircraft structure gonna be check for cracks. It was reported as the second hardest landing of the A346, +2.8G on landing avherald.com/h?article=471e70e9&opt=0
Ryan air pilot : This is one of the butter landing I've ever seen!!!
Impressive airmanship from LH crew inbound from München! Well captured Kusu!! Arigato .. congrats your footage has gone viral!!
Whoa! That was a really hard crosswind, and landing! It would also be very scary to be inside that aircraft considering that it banked to the left after flaring! Brilliant camera work, my friend!
Fantastic capture! May I feature this hard landing in my next video? Of course I'll provide a link back to your original video. All the best to you!
My favorite type of videos when the skills of the pilots are put to good use! Good film work Kusu.
Excellent! You might have captured this jets last revenue flight for awhile.
OUCH! Amazing hard landing! Good vid!
Absolutely insane! Great video!
That looked hard! Luckily (at least it seems) they didn't burst any tyres and the plane didn't bounce as the Fed Ex MD-11.
That was amazing. Thanks for sharing.
I love the black smoke at 0:45 and then the roar of the engines. gr8t!
Iti is a real miracle how the landing gears are strong, not just on this video... What a hit on the ground and nothing... Great!!
Dat plane's fuselage also bent a little...
At 0:43 i thought the crew initiated a go around
crazy, and it would be hard to tell without this video how much stress on the body it would have been, i guess at that point they would only check the outside of the body and gear
inside would prolly be damaged too :\
According to Avherald, the aircraft is grounded due to overstress landing gear damage and waiting for repairs, that was really hard!
Thanks Calin :-)
OMG the second LH landing was a tough one! Well handled throughout.
ohh lord, super hard landings, u can see the huge wing flex. but it was a really strong crosswind.
Wow. Thank you kusu.....
Woah!! the entire fuselage had a flex!!!
+kusu yama No problem, keep it up
Saw this aircraft in the NCA hanger yesterday.
Impressive !!! Scary !
Looking from my arm chair. It's looked like a normal cross wind approach. He just got an unlucky in the last few feet, which you can not do much about it. Job well done anyway.
I can only imagine how the passengers felt after a long journey + the hard landing Thank God no tragedy....Awesome video man
The positive effect: After that landing everybody is woke up :)
By the way, registration was D-AIHR
The stress on that fuselage must've been enormous. I wonder how much stress the planes can take before cracks appear or worse, before the fuselage splits.
landing gear check after hard set down. but some times there isn´t another way
The aircraft arrived at MUC and gets inspected by LH and Airbus there.
The g-load was 2.8 !
ewoollen yes that was a windshere. aircraft is after repair now back in service.
the fuselage wasn't damaged.
this was actually recorded as the 2nd hardest landing ever recorded on an a340-600 and is still out of service being inspected
Then WFT was the hardest???!!!!
@@elliotwhitworth8239 Google for the Iberia a340 landing in Quito 2007, that's the one
これは、すごいですね。ドスンと着地してますね。
didn't see the CW coming right before TD !!!
Respect an die Piloten
Respect on the flight crew
am I the only one that noticed the flexing of the rear part of the fuselage, this was hard!
Could that final drop onto the runway have been windsheer?
Was that the noise at 1.13 come from the flex of fuselage??
Wow! That was really hard. Look at the wing flex
+kusu yama where exactly?
Might just be me imagining it but I think I can see the fuselage actually bending at touchdown under the stress.
You are right, it did bend.
Nice !
Woow!
those wings..
...it looks like pushing down sidestick to avoid long landing distance.
This was not D-AIHT, it was D-AIHR
You can kinda guess what the conversation in the cockpit was seconds after this....
"Nice! Nailed it!"
I am travelling at the end of April and I hope not having any problem. I do hate flying.

ナイス!エアバス A340 すげえ!
I also know how to land with that style...
Surprising how the tower controller says the wind is 18 gusting 26, that isn't even that windy!
how can u hear that??
Listen carefully when the aircraft is on final!
これはギリギリだね
あとちょっと負荷大きかったら事故
Hi! The Pilot should of made a go around. Now the Aircraft is stressed and the Passengers could of been hurt, They were Lucky. Have a nice day!
chrmanlovhumv, are u a pilot? if there is a downwind u can't do anything..
What a sweeping and unthought argument. Pat is right; it is very obvious that it was a downwind and strong series of gusts. How can you do a "go round" thingy in that situation?

Calin Pirlog I don't get it...why couldn't the pilot not have gone full throttle and pulled back on the stick?
pdmmdk slow speed, he received a wind gust, the airplane slows down even more, after the gust he would be on a stall, going full throttle even if work would take few seconds till he could gain speed (turbine take time to develop thrust), and at stall and close to ground its not a good idea! the pilot just take the correct action for the situation.
Lol bounce bounce. 6 in total on the wings though.
did anybody get hurt? The airplane hit the ground so hard
Ok someone help me out here, look at the first landing, the entire body of the plane flexes, no not just the wing, but the fusalage! This plane must have been damaged? Did they do an entire C, D check with x-rays??
Yes the fuse did flex, and yes it had an service before it went back in the sky, now she's up in the air again.

It seens to me that Narita is a pretty windy airport. Isn't it?
NRT and HND are difficult to fly due to tropical storms
Yes, it can get a little tricky. On an average, every 4th airplane crashes, you only need to plan that you are not in that one. Just kidding, of course :-) I have landed there last year, I can assure you that you have 99% chances to not even feel that you have landed. :-)

Flying in a month and I expect not having problems. I hate flying.

If I was sitting port side in any of those waiting planes to take off and saw this - I'd order a stiff scotch with a valium chaser!

Looks like he was losing the center line and decided to force the plane down.

Wrong label; it is D-AIHR, not D-AIHT. Use highest resolution and look and pause at th-cam.com/video/UK5Nm_rKu50/w-d-xo.htmlm5s
