I have no doubt that the writers and the audience are well read / informed about the Vedas, Upanishads etc etc but I feel we have a Sampradaya running down from Guru Adi Shankaracharya and many of the current Guruji’s from any one of the institutions eg Ramankrishna mission, Chinmayanand mission, Swami Dayanand Saraswatiji’s Arsh vidhya etc can explain all these. And I think it is those Guru’s who should be confirming these kind of issues.

Caste system was invented and solidified by the British. We had the varna system based on the profession of the people.
In India it was possible to change
      the varnas.
Majority of the kings including Chatrapati Sivaji and kings of Travancore were dalits. They became Kshatriya by a process known as HIRANYA GARBHA.
In 1921 people involved in adultery SMARTHA VICHARAM were changed to other Varna's by the kings of Cochin.
The Diwan Ramayyan Dalawa the minister of Marthanda Varma of Travancore downgraded Brahmins to other Varna's .
No caste is superior or inferior.
The BRAHMINS learned and propagated the Veda's,
      KSHATRIYAS fought against enemies,
VISWAKARMAS made magnificent temples like Kailasa temple, Madhura Meenakshi Temple, Puri Jagannath Temple, beautiful palaces, Damascus steel, iron pillor of Delhi,
      VAISHYAS did the trade,
      SHUDRAS did the farming

It's a very helpful clarity by Pandit Shatish ji Sharma by differentiating birth base and hereditary base ( social right).

32:06 Soul taking birth in a particular family is previous karma but current gunas are formed due to previous karmas only.
So birthbased and hereditary are complementary when Karma comes as the basis... Then Sri Krishna's words have the traditional meaning
The alternative meaning given by Pandit ji on birthbased and hereditary based on gunas might fail at the time "weighing Shastric pramana"

But previous life's Karmas are of one's on not of the family unit. But one is born in a family according to now distorted system of Jati and Varna . Your point is moot since even though the Gunas may be hereditary but hence Varna is also but only to the individual level not the family unit . So it's clear that a boy can be born in a Brahmin family but he may not have Gunas of Brahmin due to his deeds of past life.

  • @navintrader-wd6uz

We need to do away with the varna and jati system entirely. Some people say the Mughals or the British used it to divide and rule, but the truth is, this system was flawed at its core, making it easy to exploit. To truly move forward, we should remove all mentions of varna and jati from our religious texts and work towards building a united and equal Hindu society. If we don’t address this now, there’s a real risk that the same divisions could be exploited again 400-500 years from now.

We are doing the same through these intellectual discussions, what Islamic intellectuals do to defend problematic aspects of Sharia. Go on and go on about 4 witnesses, how hard it is to prove, etc., etc., but never directly say, the punishment itself is problematic. It is the same thing we are doing. trying to prove what it was meant to be, after the oppression has already happened and damage is done. We need to own our mistakes, otherwise be ready for total dissolution of your beloved Sanatan (mine too, but I'll choose the sanest path ultimately).
We cannot run from the fact that Varna is meant to be both birth based , and guna and Karma based. Because of your past life's karma, you are born in the jaati of a Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, or Shudra. Now (as per staunch Sanatani principles), after birth, you need to diligently perform your varna duties as per your jaati, and strictly stay within that to avoid those stupidly feared outcomes of varna sankranti and karma sankranti.
Basically, because of your past karma, you are born as a shudra. Then you are expected to take up jobs assigned for your types, say garbage cleaning. So a garbage cleaner is needed to striclty stay a garbage cleaner, and perform his duties diligently to attain moksha.
Notice, his condition is already considered justified, and his birth is already judged on the basis of the concept of past life's karma. However true this phenomenon can be (assuming consciousness indeed passes from one life to the next), you cannot deny that it lacks empathy. We can do better than leaving it as it is. We can think about creating a system to give shudras equal shot at both enlightenment and glory. It is because of this birth based judgement, supported by our fragile male ego, we found it extremely audacious on the part of a shudra to dream about marrying a higher caste girl. Then there's the even more problematic pratilom/anumlom child concept.
If you guys (my fellow countrymen) don't want a total dissolution of Hinduism, just discard these, or try building a better system. Otherwise get ready for extinction.

Caste maybe a Portuguese word which is naturalised in English which describes the jati pratha. Varna was changeable in Vedic era but with the coming of Kali Yuga, the stratified Varna is jati. But in practice untouchability is based on birth. You cannot run away from the truth. Now don't tell me the British started caste system.

Vedic education is a study of UNITY CONSCIOUSNESS
Varna sirf manush jaati ko seemit karna galat hai
Varna cheta aur achetana /jadapadardh mei bhi hota hai..Deva manush rakshasa aur samasta jaation mei hota hai
even among humans many/98% ko selfdetermination aur choice ka laxury nahi hai..kuch jantu/vriksha jaation mei bhi choice ho sakta ha
    CHATURVARNAS, CHATURASHRAMAS,CHATURVIDHA PURUSHARDHAS,PUNARJANMA
is a complex and single system and none of them can be studied/understood in isolation
VARANA is a bogus creation...Varna is a proper Vedic term
For all practical purposes, JAATHI is correct in the context of human society
varna is possible only in a society of vedic educated society.
In the absence of Vedic education human society will degenerate into subhuman/animal society
Varna when linked with Dharma a series of Vamshas can and were crated and maintained in all social jaatis .Raghu Vamsham is a tretise on Dynasyic engineering..
Puranas explain Vamshas of all Varnas ... and this dynastic engineering is the ultimate achievement of self determination and choice
Jaati,Bhoga aur aayu karm ke phal roop mei punarjanma ka kaaran banta hai

Varna is both birth (like astrology) and choice.
It wasn't the British that corrupted the meaning of Varna. The main culprit for the corruption that created Caste was done by the Vaishnitites to create a class war and grow the cult. Farm workers come from the lower Varnas while cattlemen were mostly Kshatriya. So to hurt the Kshatriya in this class war Vaishnavism promoted vegetarianism.

It is the British who outlawed, cheated many honest indigenous people by various means, forcing them out of community land, forest land, agricultural lands for their own benefit. They classied people into SCs and STs. They looted natural and forest wealth and ruined indigenous industries. There was no such list before European colonists set their filthy foot across the world and particularly India. This is a fact.

@@Soham216 purusha suktham in Vedas contain the details of Varna system and this has become a base for origin of many castes subsqurntly.
The Manu sastram not only talks on caste and also various discriminatory practices between men and between men and women.
Many of us made to believe that Britishers divided our people into castes. Britishers invaded and ruled almost all parts of the world but they have not introduced castes in other countries. They looted the wealth ,they discriminated against people and they suppressed them under their colonial rule. The caste system badly divided our people , developed hierarchy, oppression& suppression , created disunity and mistrust among nationals which are the main reasons for our backwardness.

Culture of surnames came during invasions and colonization otherwise we would have shri Ram Singh, Krishna yadav raven chaturvedi, sabri adivasi, valmiki nisat etc. So Bharat culture was totally free of political narrative. It was colonial tactic to divide and enjoy cock fight.. Baba sahib and congress association gave constitution stamped colonial intrests in Bharat..
