This is awesome! I'm really glad to see it's not yet another distorted amp sim, but it adds something unique and interesting. I have enough plugins that I have to search for the value add and be a little more selective. Can't wait to test it out.
McRocklin is a shredder beast and a fantastic person. If you want 80s tones with modern approach, he's your guy, but more than that his playing is unreal.
simple, intuitive, powerful and versatile. gain staging with the drives, clarity and warmth with the heatpressor... much easier to use than Axiom, and I can get many usable tones quickly. many presets offer great starting points too. I was waiting for this plugin since Thomas announced, didn't even bother with the demo version, bought it as soon as I heard it was available. That was about two weeks ago, I haven't been disappointed, and still finding great sounds every time I fire it up. Cheers!
I bought this plugin about a month ago and it's all I use. It absolutely kicks ass and there is a lot in there for everyone. If you're on the fence about this one, just do it and thank me later. And... there are tons and tons of good metal possibilities available.
This plugin is awesome! the best I've ever tried.. such an amazing tone without wasting endless time tweaking! that's absolutely a must have, higly recommended 💥🔥
Dude is a beast. I remember seeing him for the first time when I was a kid (and so was he) in the Bad 4 Good "Nineteen" video with the kid from Salute Your Shorts as the singer. And they were pretty good. Happy that he got back into the music scene.
Snälla Ola, se till att rycka tag i Fredrik eller Mårten nu när Meshuggah är på gång till Sverige. En Coffee with Ola med nån av dom hade gjort min dag. Tack du e grym!
You nailed this review! This plugin is FULL of inspiration. The metal tones are all there and once you dial them in, they are just so heavy and sit perfectly in a mix!
I've been using this plugin for a few weeks now as my daily driver. Incredible tonen. I frequeently get lost in the vibes and end up playing all night.
I've been listening to McRocklin ever since his Bad 4 Good Days and of course he was the kid in the Vai Video for The Audience in Listening.. But his solo and McRocklin Hutch stuff is incredible as well. Total virtuoso, one of the cleanest players I've ever heard.
Thanks! Well timed, it pushed me over the edge to get it whilst still on offer. I trust Thomas and I hope it will help me finally get my leads to sit better in a mix, but like you said even if not all the presets with shimmering delays and chorus will provide inspiration for a long old while!!!
The high gain sounds are saturated but still so percussive, been using it for animals as leaders type things and loving it. The upcoming updates are adding a lot of requested features as well.
Thanks for another great video Ola!🤘🏽 I remember Thomas McRocklin from back in the day as a youngster in Vai’s video and his band Bad 4 Good😄 That plug in looks like hours and hours of fun! Thanks for the review and the trip down memory lane. Oh, btw I still practice that same classical bit from Crossroads to this day👍🏼 Take care brotha! 👊🏼
It will do metal very good you can stack those drive pedals and blend gain and level and get awesome metal tones there is the bright and tight switch which will get you in the metal territory - great video Ola as usual - Love your passion
I was actually able to get a great metal tone really fast with just the demo version. It takes a little bit more time to figure out what all of the different sections do, but everything you need is here... including an 808 style pedal to keep the lows in check. This plugin has a really enjoyable sounding tone to it with very little tweaking needed. For the price... it would be nice to have a better user interface, but sound wise... I'd probably save the $20-$50 bucks extra that you would spend on a Neural sim, and go with this one.
Thomas created a monster of a dsp setup! I'm loving this thing! Ola dig in there more. There's a lot of metal tones as well. You'll be pleased like a mo-fo! 🤘🤘
For me this plug-in is all about lead tones. The first couple of presets I tried were legitimately competing with my Axe Fx solo tone I was very attach too. I think the preset design over all is great and Ola is right , you can write a song just flicking through the presets for inspiration. Maybe a random button would be cool but ola is already rather random 😂
Game recognizing game! I have thouroughly enjoyed the McRocklin Suite. Unlike the competiiton where I would just have a couple of presets that were alright, with Polychrome, the entires suite has amazing, useful tones. ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
The clean presets are awesome. I have the problem that with neural dsp the clean sounds are too piezo like, too crisp and acoustic like. It's losing the typical electric guitar sound which I just. This plugin seems to be really cool and special
great demo, that has some amazing tones, cant wait to get stuck into using it myself ! there is a tuner coming in an upcoming update i believe peeps! :)
Ola, you could record through your preferred plugin, and then re-amp through this one! I'll bet a mix of those will sound amazing..... But on its own it already sounds very inspiring indeed! And it's very reasonably priced too... I'm seriously interested 😎👍
The guys got the word Rock in his name, was it ever going to be anything else but awesome? This is the best all around guitar plug-in. Thanks McRocklin!
I spent an entire summer trying to play the karate kids part in the ending of the cross roads. Finally figured out the tab was bs. I was looking like how machio played it 😆
As a kid McRocklin played the majority of Steve Vais passion and warfare song. Steve later gave him the first prototype guitar he received from ibanez. It's an awesome story. @McRocklin is an amazing player and earned his place on my Mount Rushmore of guitarists.
@@chocolatecookie8571 that's what I was saying brother. I wasn't trying to spread any lies. I watched a documentary, of sorts, where mcrocklin talked about the song and Steve gifting him the prototype guitar as a gift. Just got the song name wrong. Again, my bad.
@@donbishop6994 okay bro, we got it cleared out. My mistake was to use the word lies. I better could have chosen the word misinformation. Have a good day 🙏
Ideal for leads, rock, prog, fusion and jazz, I'd like to think. Maybe you could do a Glenn Fricker style blend of some of the metal tones in a recording of metal rhythms to see how that works. That's definitely my favourite of the Solar X guitars. One question. Can you use a wah pedal with it?
You can get great metal tone, you just have to tweak it a bit. One giant thing I noticed about this plugin is the pinch harmonics sound great! Other plugins leave my pinch harmonics sounding very gated even with the noise gate off.
Hmm...probably going to have to check this one out. I have Amplitube, a few Neurals and i think this will be my go-to "Dumb reach" plugin for jamming and riffing for sure.
I see this Plugin and its colors, and I don't know if it exists, but it would be great if something like this would be synchronized with the studio's led lights, and depending on the preset, it would also change the light preset 🤔 I think it would be great
Is it just me or is that Type X really Razer green? Maybe make a collab guitar with em, eh? Could be cool af. I really love your stuff, keep it going. ^^
Nice Video but i always ask myself ... Who needs that kind of spacey tones ? Think there are better Plugins out there... Love nice displays ... THX BRO
Thanks for checking this out Ola, glad you’re enjoying it! Tuner and other features are dropping real soon 🤟🏻
🤘🤘
Great plugin!

So cool to see this in on your desk Ola! Absolutely slays the lead and clean tones!

Everything I hear from the PolyChrome sounds amazing, and it was so cool hearing you play through it Ola! Great video all around 🤘

Had no doubt this wasn’t got to be a top-shelf plugin. Thomas doesn’t half-ass anything. It’s whole ass effort with everything! 🤘🤘
"Thomas McRocklin" he was in Bad4good when he was a kid, the 1st album is killer
Damn!! This plugin sounds amazing!!!! McRocklin Rocks!! 🤘
Best plug-in I’ve ever used
Another banger by Ola :) keep it up!
This amp is GREAT. Right from the start I was like WHAT? I can totally appreciate the look of the GUI too
Mcrocklin Dsp polychrome is the best thing ever. Game changing. Love it and so easy to use

I can see Rabea making an album with this plugin alone
Sounds like the best plugin to me!! Daaaaaamn 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
4:20 ola absolutely NAILING steve vais characters part from the movie!! 10/10 😂
With that plugin you could probably get a great Iron Maiden Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son tone!
3:29 - What song was that? I think i knew this lick. Can someone help pls?
I wanna know too
Always on the Run by Lenny Kravitz

wow actually thinking about buying this one it sounds great i just already have archetype petrucci and henson so idk if i NEED it
Cool tones, man! This could be a useful way to add a new dimension to a song. Also that green type X is my favorite solar guitar to date. Well done! 🤘
Ola.. it's fricking mcRocklin in a box! what more can we ask for? ;) Nice demo here.
Your green guitar is most excellent. ❤
Ola playing “Always On the Run” was so unexpected I fell off my chair.
Got it love it! 🤘😎

I don’t care for metal but however this plug-in is absolutely incredible. Just bought it today
That plugin ist just way too much fun ... Maybe it needs a Ola Englund Suite to fix the "maybe not for metal" aspect 😂
I spent an entire summer trying to play the karate kids part in the ending of the cross roads. Finally figured out the tab was bs. I was looking like how machio played it 😆
Update 1.1 just released. Which includes a tuner. :)
When you use a plug in like this do you just connect the guitar to the PC and use speakers ?
Guitar into interface, interface into computer... out from interface to studio monitors
4:55 sounds pretty freakin metal to me. I’d like to hear that on a 7/8 string.

Except there is no Passion and Warfare song. Thomas also didn’t played the majority of that album if that is what you meant. Stop spreading lies.

Awesome stuff this plugin sounds amazing😀

lots of saturation in this market now.
pun intended?
Waaaay too much. Everyone wants to make the same version of everything that’s already out there
I can say from experience this is nothing like any other guitar plugin
There will be as many tones as stars in the sky
Don't forget, guitar whizz kid, who appeared in Steve Vai's, "the audience is listening" music video
Waiting on the Mesa Boogie mark II C+ from Neural DSP review... I bet it chugs

sounds great! very very flexible.. its as if they wanted to get out of the whole "physical amp emulation" and do something else
Nicely done

Thanks Ola! A clean tone dream at least 🤙🤘🎸🤘

Ola. I've gotta say. That Green X is KILLER.. especially with the Floyd Rose... Wonder if it has 24 frets????
