Sad how Spain and other "civilized" countries claim all this gold and silver is theirs -- and not belonging to the Indigenous peoples from whom they stole it by force or slave labor.
I thought about that. But an awful lot of effort went into that plundering and conquering. And I suppose that the native tribes would have done the same had they figured out how to make steel and gunpowder first. The inca and Aztec were both conquerors themselves, after all.
Ordinary Filipinos in Philippines from 1565-1898 were called serfs not slaves though Philippines were conquered by Spaniards.King Philip give decree to free the slaves in the spirit of Christianity. In the eyes of Christianity slavery is not good. The decree of King Philip were unenforceable for Filipino families did not give their first born male to the king to become nobles(knighted) at a later time enforcers in the land and protect the kingdom here in Philippines. The idea is to let Philippines be part of the treasures handling, management and showcase exposure to Filipinos and pick King Philip II as our vintage hero and patriot.Today is September 10,2020 at 4:25 p.m(Philippine Daylight Saving Time,Iriga City).
I was stationed at Key West Fla. from 1971-72 and knew Mel Fisher. He was a hell of a guy! He was just one of several colorful guys that were treasure salving at that time I'll say two things about Mel, You could find him at Sloppy Joe's or Captain Tony's Having a few"sociable one's" while in port, and he would give you the shirt off his back. I went down to Key West for Christmas/ New Years 1996/7 for a 25th reunion with several shipmates. I went to the Treasure Museum and Saw his wife Deloris but Mel was out bar hopping and we never connected. He died a year or two later. A shipmate of mine worked for another treasure salvor, (there were several) but I cant remember the salvors name. My buddy got paid $15 a week ,room and a berth on the boat to sleep. I hope he found something big!
Charged with fraud, Brooks told the court he was deceived by two documents that indicated there was a valuable cache of platinum and gold aboard the S.S. Port Nicholson that would be worth more than $3 billion.
