When I joined the Army in the early 90s I was issued a set of mess tins that were date stamped 1942. They served me for 10 years. I regret not keeping them and swapping them for a cheap set when it was time to turn in my issued gear.
Got the same ground sheet from home bargains about 3 years ago still going albeit with some pin holes in it. Use it the same way to put my rucksack in the middle and empty gear on to it. Do the reverse in the morning by emptying contents of tent on to it and then in to rucksack, saves me losing anything as i also like my camping gear to be dark in colour. It also doubbles as a canopy over the door of my porchless tent when it's raining so i can cooke or enjoy the view.

Just got back from camping in Wales and have a new found hatred of walking though ferns! Great to see you back. The mat looks good, the built in pump is useful and the poppers definitely a good idea. Ditch the bag, seems like it'll be fine just with the elastic.
Your new TH-cam name should be ROD RAMBLES...because its a play on semantics rambles as in walking outdoors and rambles as in talking I.e your rants about the state of things 😁
I might actually use that name for a separate video series of me walking and talking so I can keep my comments on the modern western world separate from my camping videos so they can remain more chilled.
Its definitely been cooler in UK this year than last, only a few very hot days, last year was no joke, aprox 1000 people a day in the UK dying of heat related complications on the few extreme days...i know quite a few people who were phyically affected, some hospitalised. bought an aircon ready for this summer...only used a few nights so far, but compared to years ago, have noticed far more days when out working when its just to hot to do anything, the heat lethargy is dangerous. my motehr was killed by a van driver asleep at the wheel on a hot day because of heat drowsiness....
Im gonna try for the second time since last October. Not made it all the way yet. I got to Stone henge which was definatly worth it. @@rodster6campingprepper

Can i suggest breaking up your noodles before you pop them in the pan. If you break them up in the packet they don't fly everywhere
