Kodak Ultramax is the ultimate colour Beginner's Film: fast, flexible, and forgiving of exposure errors! In Kodak's technical description they discuss that Ultramax 400 gives better results than other entry-level colour films with zoom lenses, it has greater flash range, can take better ‘stop-action’ photos, and will show a reduced impact of camera shake.
All of these are down to the fact the the film needs less light to capture an image - so it takes less time and all the above things are possible.
Kodak Ultramax 400 uses the same T-grain emulsion as T-Max, which are known for producing finer grain and lower contrast than ‘normal’ emulsion, so you know that the chemistry is there to back-up the marketing claims!
Brilliant for holiday snapshots in a variety of lighting situations, and perfect for late-night parties.
Please note: all images used in the video remain (c) of the artist. For the corresponding specific Kodak Ultramax review by the photographer and any further details about their work please head to the product page:

It's my go to film for testing any new camera. particularly toy cameras. It allows me to get a feel of what I can do with them without being too expensive

Yes I think that's really smart - Ultramax gives you the colour check as well, versus testing with Kentmere or similar - great thinking!

I shot my very first roll of color film with the ultramax. I'm still learning. Shooting with film isn't easy for me, and I'm even more intimidated by color film, but I really really loved the colors. Just got a portra from you last week, can't wait to see the differences.

Ooh fantastic! And don't worry - we're all still learning :-) that's one of the joys of film! Would love to see what you think of the results - Kodak Ultramax vs Portra...

@@AnalogueWonderland i don’t have a flash in my manual camera so i wanted to know if it works well indoor without flash 😬

@@beatricev26 ah sorry! Then yes it will - as long as the light is reasonably bright. So in a well-lit lounge or kitchen - great! In a dark bar or restaurant - probably not so much. Does that help?

It’s my go-to everyday film. I much prefer its look to Portra for street and everyday photography. Portra is too pretty.
