I love that everyone either had a fun thought out outfit or just the confidence to roll out of bed, throw on a cool coat (meaning a thing they thought about when they got/tailored it) and go out. Life is too short for boring clothes, so if your closet consists of cool stuff and you see people wearing interesting combos with absolut coolness everyday- it's a great influence.
What's boring clothes though? Like that sounds so judgemental LMFAO. Clothes are what a person makes it. I wear clothes like these kids all of the time but I'd never say someone's outfit is boring because they don't dress or look like me. Or because they don't wear wild colors or different patterns over their other patterns. At the end of the day clothes are clothes. You make it what you want. And if they wear it the way it's made it's not boring. No one is ever boring.

Let's be honest here...anything looks good when you're young. Especially when you wear it with confidence. They remind me of me and my friends back in the 70's . We bought our clothes at thrift stores and swap meets. We mixed old with new. Fun times!!
The thing is the majority of old people dont wear much creative and varying outfits. Maybe because they think theyre too old for that or simply dont want to put effort in their fits. But a well thought outfit looks great on everyone.

I went to FIT in 2010s and I feel like it was such a stuck up environment. I love the vibe everyone gave off in this video. It's nice to see what looks like a cultural change and more down to earth people now. Love this video ❤️🔥
I think this stuck up attitude is necessary to survive a hostile fashion industry and/or too strike out on your own afterwards or during school and try to start your own brand. These kids remind me of me when I was younger and I was often told by people that they thought I was stuck up until they got past the surface and got too know me.

Idk if it’s just me but I feel like since the pandemic a lot of people have gotten more stylish due to spending more time on social media platforms. It’s pretty cool seeing everyone having their own style they enjoy and can express themselves~ This is kind of a weird way of putting it but I feel like people are almost becoming like avatars!
I really want to go to FIT and seeing this on my recommended gives me so much joy because of how comforting this school atmosphere looks. Can’t wait for my college tour :)

The majority of the students you will find outside are in some sort of business/marketing degree. They are there to smoke and be seen. The fashion/art students come and go like worker elves. Their degrees are so exhausting to the point that they have no desire to hang around FIT longer than necessary. I remember Illustration majors in the computer lab at 5 am. Still pulling all nighters. Maybe even a full day of work.

I went to fit (class of 2020) and one of the most things I miss is all the fashion inspo and being constantly surrounded by so many creative ambitious people, it was always very motivating!
I wanted to be in fashion when i was in third grade even bought a sewing machine learned how to take measurements and would draw out designs constantly however my mom NEVER bought me fabric or threads or needles so i just had a standing sewing machine and she would constantly tell me that i was tacky that I couldn't be a fashion designer bc i didn't even know how to sew with a machine and laugh when i told her i wanted to go to college for fashion. I gave up on that dream, hating my designs bc they looked stupid and not professional. Wanna know what i ended up doing? Dropping out of hs at a young age and being unemployed. Parents, if your kids have a passion, no matter what that passion is, fucking accept it, cherish it, and help them persue it.
There's a TH-camr, Zoe Hong, who is a fashion designer and teaches a lot of stuff on her channel. She even has advice for how to get into the industry if you didn't go to college, and a lot of people think she actually teaches more/better then their collage professors did. As other people have said, you can still go for it.

Loved them. I just want to say as a woman reaching my 33th birthday: by 2009 most people were not wearing short suede ugg/fur boots or flare jeans or short tops! Skinny jeans and long tees was what people would wear, specially a US sorority girl. People who wouldn't care about clothes or fashion would wear them until around 2014, but i.e. I remember a friend throwing shade to a girl wearing those at that time haha. I'm actually concerned about 2005+ fashion coming back.

Loved them. I just want to say as a woman reaching my 33th birthday: by 2009 most people were not wearing short suede ugg/fur boots or flare jeans or short tops! Skinny jeans and long tees was what people would wear, specially a US sorority girl.
People who wouldn't care about clothes or fashion would wear them until around 2014, but i.e. I remember a friend throwing shade to a girl wearing those at that time haha.
I'm actually concerned about 2005+ fashion coming back.
Found you on my home page and I am obsessed. Seeing all of these videos and the way people express themselves through their outfits has really inspired me to wear something apart from sweatpants and tshirts.
I love how most of them is trifted. I love thrifting, you don’t know what treasure you will find and it excite you like really i can spend the whole day in the trift store and i won’t mind at all. All the styling is on point, love it !

I got into FIT but I decided to go to school in LA - I always wonder how different my life would be if I ended up there.
I'd feel so inspired just by walking around FIT and seeing what everyone was wearing. It will be exciting to see where these folks end up in the fashion world. Best of luck to all of them!

I like how people aren't afraid to express themselves with their clothes in New York. I live in Rio, but my neighborhood is in the countryside. So everyone is basic, i mean.. in Brazil people wear a lot of color and patterns but not in a "trendy" or " fashion" way..

3:12 totally agree with her, fashion is not always about wearing revealing clothes or showing skin, like I saw people berating those who dislike showing too much skin, telling them they are lame, too plain or boring. If wearing crop tops, deep neckline is your choice then dressing full sleeves and covering up stomach/back is about ✨choices✨ too 😘
