'Cart Day' on 20th January 2018 welcomed Paul Mario Day back to the East London venue that many call 'the birthplace of Iron Maiden', as it was where the first full gigs of Maiden took place in early 1976.
This special sold-out event was originally organised as a farewell party for the very first singer with Iron Maiden (Jan - Sep 1976), at the conclusion of what may be his final visit to the UK, having emigrated to Australia in 1986.
The event included appearances from other Maiden alumni from the early years (1972-1979), Q&A, merch and memorabilia sale and live performances from two bands featuring fellow ex-Maiden men: Buffalo Fish (with Terry Wapram (1977-1978)) and Airforce (with Doug Sampson(1978-1979)).
Paul joined both bands, performing covers of early Maiden classics, 'Iron Maiden' and 'Wrathchild', covers including Priest's 'Breaking the law' and SAHB's 'Faith healer' as well as fronting Airforce for a series of fine original songs. This included the newly recorded 'Band of brothers', featuring Paul's vocals and also 'Sniper' a 2017 Airforce track, that features Paul Di'Anno (1978-81)

It's more than obvious that Paul Mario Day LOVES this song and Iron Maiden and he is an important part of their history. Steve must take this man back at least for some guesr performances.

I like Paul Day, top dollar!! He really does have a great voice!!!
And I was there when he sang it. He even bellowed out my name in the pub. Let me explain. First off my name isn't "Wrath Child". I went into the Cart and Horses Stratford in the 70s. Can't remember the actual year sorry. This rather loud, rather good, metal band was playing in the corner. I ordered my shandy ( don't drink and drive kids) and suddenly the singer, Paul Day shouted out my name. He recognised me from our school day's. He was a great lad a real pleasure to know. It's great seeing him now too, especially as I haven't seen him since that day in the Cart and Horses.
I wish I was alive back then. How similar were Terry Rance and David Sullivan at guitar to Dave Murray and Dennis/Adrian? I do know the song Iron Maiden had a similar predecessor in Gypsys Kiss called Influence because it was rerecorded
@@jimmyneut2702 I have no idea. The only band member I knew was Paul Mario Day. Nobody knew back then just how big Maiden were to become. NOBODY. They were just another random pub band earning 15 quid a night.

@@jimmyneut2702 I belive so. "Metal" by 1976 was about 6 or 7 years old. Started by Deep purple and Black Sabbath, and such like. I never actually went to my first gig till around the 80s. Deep Purple. Saw Maiden at Wembley in 1988. Then over the years, more Purple. White Snake. Rainbow. Alice Cooper. Magnum. Then as I got older I started worrying about my hearing so stopped going😔
@@jimmyneut2702 LOL no. I only went around with Paul Dianno and Steve (loopy) Newhouse. He became Maidens drum tech up until 1984. In1990 Clive Burr came to my uncles funeraI. My uncle also had a pub band. They knew each other. I knew Paul Day from school only. We lost touch when we left school. I only saw Maiden twice. Cart and Horses and Wembley Arena.
3 iron maiden singers have Paul in the name. Bruce's first name is also Paul

If Bruce Dickinson ever decides to leave Maiden again, Paul Day should be a strong replacement.

Sings a lot better than I expected .(No offence), but I wonder if he sang it thus way back in the day? It sounds influenced by latter versions, v vocally.
He sound exactly like back in the day with his band like More and Wildfire.
Should Dickinson ever quit Maiden for whatever reason they should consider rehiring this guy. He's still got quite the pipes.

Just found out about this dude. Been an Iron Maiden fan since my Dad bought "Number of the Beast" when I was 4, but always thought Paul D'Anno was original singer. Very glad this is out there. I would love to here his take on other Maiden songs. This guy kicks ass.

And his name isn't actually "Dianno". It's Paul Taylor. I knew him from way back when in Leyton East London. Paul Mario Day too and Steve Loopy Newhouse. All great lads!!

I'm surprised; I always thought that Paul Di'Anno was Maiden's first vocalist. Paul Mario Day sings even better than Paul Di'Anno and just as well as Bruce 😮✨👍
