Suzanne Dowling talks to David on Australian TV show Rock Arena This is part 2. You can watch part 1 here: • Rock Arena interview D... Broadcast on November 22nd 1988.
Thank you , endlessly, for posting this historic and important piece of footage. This interviewer is incredible! The amount of terrible interviews I've seen such a lovely man endure and clearly suffer through is gutwrenching. This glorious lady asks questions that you can see and hear him truly enjoy answering. It's utterly magical to me personally, and I'm sure a lot of lovers of his fine music have gained immense joy from it. It's answered such a lot of questions that I've wanted to know the answers to on a very enigmatic , ellusive and solem soul. ❤❤❤
Great interview. Suzanne is definitely a fan :-) Good to hear him talk about his collaborations. I've been hooked since Japan. David's desire for people to experience his music within their own lives has certainly been fulfilled, with me anyway, and I'm sure lots of others... He remains at the forefront of my life's soundtrack for over 30 years and for that I am truly grateful.
I like his use of the term "personalized" in the phrase "it's very important that music be personalized", so different from the 2018 use of the term. Been watching & thoroughly enjoying a lot of Eno, Bowie & Jarvis Cocker interviews lately. I'll gladly add him to my list. Actually, imagine a round table with those 4 guests!
These interviews must have been carried out in 1986 (rather than the published date of 1988 written here) because of the Gone to Earth references. It's a great interview actually.
It was 1988, he was in Australia looking into doing some recordings with the Aboriginals that never eventuated, this is mentioned in 'On The Periphery'
he makes a fantastic point right at the end - unusual music when put into song form sections becomes much more palatable as people realise their is a resolve - rather than a continuous longevity of an unusual sounding pattern.
Guessing he must have been around mid 20,s here. Why is it it seems the majority of people of the same age these days sound like toddlers in comparison and can barely string a cohesive sentence together?
Extremely engaging interview with one of the most profound musically accomplished cultured artists of the late 20th Century! From Adrian Browne @1965.Com

What a superb interviewer - never forgets its about them, not her!
Mark Hollis, David Bowie and David Sylvian...similarities abound in style and intellect

Great eyebrows...
Ugh so true, the lighting is absolutely doing him justice too👀👀
His lips and his skin. Good heavens, it looks like creamy silk.
Hard to recognise him as the same performer who sang Adolescent Sex.

Reuze bedankt, Gerrit! Moodyb heeft ook wat leuke radioclips geplaatst, heel bekend!
Did he say Steve Nieve? when talking about BJ Cole. I assume the earlier album mentioned would have been Almost Blue by Elvis Costello.
Steve Nye.
Ah, Thank you.
Gerrit, what was the song at the end?
silver moon from gone to earth
