Writing is tough, but the best advice every writer ever will tell you is: do the work. Just sit down and write every day, even if it's garbage. If you spend all your time just thinking like a writer and thinking about being a writer, you're already dead as a writer. Sit down and do the work, end of story.
Stephen King doesn't believe in writer's block; neither should you. For many would-be writers, this is merely something they tell themselves exists as an easy way out for not writing, and so they can play the tortured writer cliche. Don't be this person. Get a routine, and just do the work.
"I only write when inspiration strikes. Fortunately it strikes at nine every morning.”

Writer’s block IS real. I was writing a non-fiction piece about myself once, and it was personal, full of things I had only told my closest friends. Each time I went back to it, the harder it got to write, so the wordcount stagnated.
One day, when I forced myself to write, I started feeling a panic attack coming on, the first I had ever had.
I downed a large glass of gin and just kept writing until it was finished and the words began to blur.
Writer’s block is real. It’s like the demon-version of your muse that you have to constantly battle. It makes you doubt yourself, tries to convince you to hate your own writing-anything to get you to stop working. But if you’re passionate enough about your story (or have enough gin), the demon can’t stop you

For example, if you want to be a writer as your primary job it may be hard, but George Orwell didn't succed the first time he wrote a book either. I've been working on my novel for six years. I worked out it through alcohol and pill recovery. And, though I haven't completely kicked alcohol, I am now 7 years clean of abusing pills.
My novel is now done. 119k words. 320 pages.
I never thought it would end, but it did. Because I kept moving those keys. Rewriting. Smoothing. Digging deeper until I thought it was bedrock, and even then, beneath, it was only infinite stars.
I am grateful for this video. I now begin book 2 of my duology.

I am going to write a published novel and it'll be on the bookshelves of many libraries, they might even need two copies so they don't run out. I could go to bookstores that sell my books and secretly autograph them. I'll know when I get there, but until then, I'll just keep writing.

I think the video above is great! I'm rebuilding mine now and am adding caveats about how to write, intvws w/great novelists, how to stuff, writer compulsion, plus philosophical thought related to the themes of my novels, human behavioral idiocy, conscious evolution, more and more. I would like to people who visit my site to be convinced to purchase one of my novels, yes, but I've decided to include my 'stuff' in a mental writer/philosophe/thinker 'museum' where many may leave without one of my novels, but it they look at a few pictures or open a video or two, that I will have contributed something that they were not prepared to get. Could we exchange emails? I think you could certainly help me in my mission. If I new how, perhaps I could contribute to you. Lem.

The notion that writer’s block doesn’t exist is misleading and potentially damaging.
Trust me, it DOES exist. The greatest artists in history have all suffered it at some point in their careers.
Writer’s block is a product of your inner critic. She is a total asshole. But she is the part of you who wants to be a GREAT writer. Problem is, she is too quick to judge.
First, you need to let your wild, creative, unrestrained imagination unleash itself on the page. Write everything and anything. Only once that is done, should you allow your inner critic in. And even then, she can only be allowed to critique progressively. With each new draft, she can be allowed slowly into the room, and closer, and closer to the page, until its done.
It’s a balance. Wild first, disciplined last. But one rule above all else:
    ALWAYS BE WRITING.

As a writer who has been going through a pretty grouch time sitting down at the machine to bleed, I thank you for making this video. It came to me when I needed it most. I watch it whenever I feel I have lost my way and I then sit down to my typewriter, or my computer to bleed. Because that is what writing is, as Hemingway said: "There's nothing to writing...all you do is sit at your typewriter and bleed." I've had a rough time of creativity since I wrote my last book and have struggled with what to do next but I have a clear idea of what to do now. So thank you; thank you very much

As a male I'm inclined to read from the male perspective, not taking anything from the contributions of female authors though. You should make a video of your favourite writers.

We've all heard the advice of just write. I think we all know that's the key, but how? Well, I've used a reward system where even my most embarrasing vices become my reward after hitting 2000 words for the day. You just have to literally hit those keys and not worry if the words are good. Just dump it all out, reward yourself, rinse and repeat
